The cage is is the prison fear has built him. In intro 3 he says "what you don't like the prison i built you" and in the end of intro 3 he says "its funny, I thought you had me in prison this whole time, but I'm the one holding the keys". Then the very next song, "outcast" starts with him sitting in a cell jingling keys in his hand.
I can say this song 10x better hearing it live. Yall gotta go to an NF concert

The third verse in Mansion speaks of his safe room, where no one goes in. He hasn’t let anyone in because “Fear” lives there with him. In outro (Intro 2.5) Nate finds the keys. In Intro 3 he finally has the courage to kick “Fear” out and bury him. Now, in Outcast, he is letting people see in his cage and he’s exposing it, now that he is no longer ruled by Fear.
His emotions laugh at him and tell him he’ll never get out.
Yes, agree and in The Search you see the cage in the background and he is out but has the shopping cart with him which is also a cage on wheels, his security blanket of sorts, so he can get back in side when he feels he needs too. Like at the end of the video

Thanks for the shoutout love u guys sooooo much and btw Nate says in an interview that the cage means that we can all escape our problems (keys means that u have the ability to open ur heart but u don’t wanna) so we can all escape our problems but u don’t wanna do it so that’s what he has said in an interview
It can be interpreted in a lot of ways but for him I think it's because his mom and dad divorced when he was a kid and his mom had an abusive boyfriend referred to as Johnny in intro 3 that's my opinion
You two totally forgot, that’s the cage Fear “built for him” that was referenced in Intro 3
They laugh at me, that I'll never get out. Is his emotions and feelings that he personified like fear, anger, doubt and anxiety just name a few
So in Intro 3 Fear says "you dont like the prison i built you" and at the end of the song he says im the one "holding the keys " he pretty much issaying on the concept that he has the keys to open up on his emotions from the prison that fear controlled however when he says in this song "they tell me ill never get out " he's talking about all his emotions telling him that he'll never be able to get out of his head you have to think about it as the mansion was a perception filter of a prison of emotions and he was seeing it from a view of a real life house where as the whole time he had to bury the fear to take control of the "keys". Hope this clears things up but if you need anymore things let me know.
The “I’ve never been married but I’ve felt divorce” line he is referring to himself because right after he says “Hi, I’m Nate have we met before?” He’s talking about feeling separated from himself.
i love watching you guys try to figure out what he means in the lyrics. keep in mind he has a lot of double meanings in his songs too.
The cage is representation of him being trapped in his own thoughts that he can let himself but he doesnt want to come out of it. The fans are real fans in the video. They are all staring at him and reaching for him but he lets the true fans in. It also does portray the way he feels bout being in his cage because he's the outcast of the rap industry. CHH doesn't think he's Christian enough and mainstream thinks he's to chridtian. Do instead of conforming he created his own lane but the industry just tries to ignore him because they can not own him or make money off him. One thing I never thought of the many times I have heard this song, until now watching the reaction, is when he says,
"they laugh when they tell me I'll never get out" it could be seen as him addressing the fact that some people criticize and claim NF has sorta trapped himself in this lane of making only dark and sad/deep music.
And if he wants to make different types of music in the future it will no longer be the music he has catered to his fanbase.
So then he says "I'm just tryna be me i am nobody else."
Meaning, as he has said, he is just making Real music, whatever he is feeling he will put into the music.
Also divorced from his ow self. He always has multiple meanings in his lyrics because he layered with relatability in all aspects of life! He's so good. I'm not sure he even knows how good he is lol
cage is his safety zone... the people are the fans he allows some in at first. Than he let the fans into the cage with him. Now he is with the fans.... Also the music industry is the ones that will laugh at him because he is the outcast.
Divorce= he is also feeling divorced from the rest of the world because of his anxiety and not feeling comfortable in crowds
He “felt divorce” when his parents divorced when he was a kid

Thirdeyedreamer we have mentioned in multiple videos that I have seen/heard these songs, the “brunette” (because we’re calling out hair colors) has not.
