LP is a national treasure Jack. Complete legend
And my face hurts from smiling so much!!
Thanks for sharing such fabulous moments.
Hmm lets see. How many CAMS violations can I count? King Gee shorts and shirt - no fireproof race suit. Ear muffs - no helmet. Roll bar - no race cage. Open window - no driver head arrest net. Solo drive - no navigator. Lap sash seatbelt - no quick release safety harness. Cracked glass windscreen - no plexiglass. Petrol tank behind driver - no barrier between driver and fuel cell. Old split tyres - not new with sufficient grip. I could go on.
And another thing - I FREAKIN LOVED THIS!!!!
The old boy hasn't lost any of his tenacity behind the wheel. The VW motor sure is sweet now, and the setup looks pretty stable for the rough stuff. Screw the 8 seconds - THIS ROCKED!!
Thanks LP & Jack you are legends!!
Hey! No CAMS out here. Oh! He rolled it. Huh! Just a formality.
OMG, he's frigging flying, goes to show once you've got it ya never lose it.
It's not that quick!!!! Cheers!
You can’t beat driving flat out in the bush 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 Love it 👍👍👍👍👍
The look on his LP's face when he launched...there's 30 years gone back in time right there.
Beside the fact that Larry is driving that track, just pause & appreciate that Scenery! Gold! Aussie Bush Life! Thank you Jack for sharing! Would love to see what Automation Solutions will let us see. Cheers!
That’s how I grew up. Having fun in the bush with a cut down VW beatle. 👍
How good!
How good was that, absolutely fantastic. You’re right Jack, the smile says it all. Thanks 👍🏻🇦🇺
That kid is going to have great memories of tearing around that track.
LP says 8 seconds slower so the original 1979 tyres might need to be replaced?
I think 8 seconds slower when the driver is 40 years older means LP is still a bloody legend on the dirt just as he was back then. That's awesome.
LP was certainately giving it a red hot go! The smile on his face says everything 😁 Did you have a drive Jack?
Absolutely love the Volks,Plenty of wheel work LP,
That's it!! Cheers!
Get those Perkins glasses out fucking awesome family of drivers hats off!!! And brock legacy too!!! Go Larry and of course Jack!!!!! Go the Perkins family 🎉let’s go for succession Jack!!!!
Cheers!
Aah … the Perkins rally car (and GoPro mount) testing and development circuit. Who needs You Yangs? 🙂 Great video. Thank you.
Haha exactly!
Fang it LP. You're my _HERO_
I was doing this kind of stuff at my parents Lang Lang Honey Farm in the mid '80s till my father put a stop to the 'fanging'😢
Always good fun going for a fang!!
Jack, Elvis’s song ‘all shook up’ came to mind as I watched LP fang around the track 😊. He loved it , I loved it. LP wasn’t going to concede 8 seconds to his age, it was the age of the tires!!!
Excellent this is what real motorsport should be . Great special stage .
loved it, plenty of understeer & power oversteer & everything else in between, funny watching the gopro leaping off & LP kept going.
It makes me so happy to see LP fanging the beetle and have fun.
Cheers!!!
Go LP ,gotta love the Mallee Country.
LP a LEGEND!
Cheers!!
So rad! What a legend. No roll cage, seat looks pretty bouncy, stirring wheel massive. Fanging around the farm, what a joy
What a ripper!! I was going through one of my Australian Motoring Yearbooks a little while ago and there is a pic of Larry taking off his dirty white overalls behind this car at a checkpoint.
He's still got race driver like reflexes with thesteering i reckon
Cheers!
It’s Larry on the Wynn’s safari again, fantastic! Love it Jack.
Larry is still there fanging around, Jack went home when it got dark.
Imagine what a dream that engine would in the VW community a "Perkins herby motor"
Absolutely beautiful loved every minute of this video, love hearing Larrys Stories, and now why racing the bug hes grinning ear to ear, even when he rolled it 🤫🤣😎🇦🇺♥️♥️ Got love these guys True Aussie living legands, always watching cheers KC Cradle Mountain Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🤝🇦🇺🇦🇺😎🙂👍🏁🏁🏁🏆🏆🏆🥇🥇🥇
Glad you enjoyed it
Nothing wrong with the springs in the front seat having a good jump around there well done .
8 seconds of the pace in a car and on a track you haven't run in nearly 40 years! couldn't be upset with that.
Awesome watching him fang it through the bush collecting the odd tree branch on the way, 😁 she looks to understeer a little I gather it’s a beetle thing
Great to see the old man still has the skill.
Would love to see Perkins / Perkins on the side of a race, next year's 6hr??
I bet LP kidneys and back really enjoyed the drive and I like the Armstrong power steering
I was crying here watching my hero driver at the wheel again. 😢 His facial concentration and expressions are just like the shots we got from the Bathurst era. Well done to a true champion for showing and reminding us all over again. 👏
how dam cool! anyone else want to see svg have a fang in this thing!
That motor sounds solid. As expected.
Onya Larry grouse to see an old school beast with some added juice to the mix :-)
That look of concentration and determination again. Better hit up O'BRIEN GLASS for some sponsorship. The view off the roof looks way faster than other angles and seeing the master at work enjoying himself is priceless. An inch or two of line out there is a tiny bit more forgiving than most tracks he's mastered. Loved the footage from every angle and every aspect. Always happy to see you guys behind the wheel
Haha yeah roof cam didn’t last long 😂
If it's got robots it's got to be cool. Love to see a collaboration between both of you for a video.
Yep good idea
The Sounds of a VW run is just magic , Thanks Jack and LP love these vidoes, Learning a lot more about racing in Australia
Bloody brilliant 👍
Cheers!!
wish you guys made figurines of you both now thats a cool idea, Wifes asking is the hat and ear muffs Cams approved 🤫🤣😎🇦🇺♥️🏁🥇🏆
Not quite sure who was doing the most work there , LP or VW. Fun to watch . All the sounds and footage were awesome, just imagine spending a few hours racing in that cockpit . Be a long hard day. Great content thanks for sharing guys.
Go Larry! No holds barred. Looks like you need a 3 Footed Monster ;)
That Australia (and NZ) produce truly epic individuals like Larry Perkins, Jack Brabham, and Bruce McLaren is a testament to the greatness of these nations and their people. Absolutely love it, LP and Jack! Keep it up!
This is so good, so awesome to see LP throwing it around. Rip to the go pro off the roof.
It survived
A true legend!
Wow Jack this has to be one of the best episodes yet….. to see the smile on LPs face is absolutely awesome👍. Thank you for taking the time to film and edit these videos and thanks to Automation Solutions for sponsoring the channel,
I can only speak for myself but I’m sure many will agree that LP is an Australian Legend and these videos are absolutely awesome.
Thank you 🙏.
This is fast becoming my favourite CZcams Chanel. That was awesome Larry didn’t hold back. What a fantastic track you have there to be able to rip around on. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻👍🏻🙃🙃
Yep, the old fella’s still got it.
In case you hadn’t already realised Jack, your Dad is one cool dude.
Jack tell him to put his helmet on 😂🤣 and nice to see him in the driver's seat 🙂
They're both old ( LP & Beetle) but no where near rusty, loved how it gets off the line
Great to see the Cowangie area on this video. I grew up at Linga, just down the road. This brings back so many memories of the area. Great video. Kevin Lewis
LP goes bananas! :P
love how the race face came on instantly!... gotta hold that tounge at the right angle to get it around some of the corners!
Love to see about the robots jack as it would be good to see what goes into making them.
Like sure I'm in New Zealand, But always good to learn new things.
Absolutely, check out their CZcams channel in the meantime, but we will try and make this happen later in the season for sure!!
Our family (6 of us} traveled half of Australia in my old mans beetle but it never sounded quite that sporty.
Good to see Larry having some fun.
great to witness the great man running around there!!! made my weekend. Great job Jack and LP. Thanks for your time for a chat!
When the Beatle was first designed, I bet they had this fun in mind.
Good to see the old bloke reliving his childhood
WOW ... how good was that! Like 70XU1 my face aches from grinning at having nearly as much fun as LP. Took me back to my rally days. LP & Jack ... you went over & above with this video!
That in car footage of LP needs to go viral.
That was awesome Jack!🇦🇺
The old man still has a crack I see 👍 I bet he felt a few new muscle's the next morning though.
Love the channel
🇦🇺🦘🇦🇺❤️
Finally the day has arrived. Larry crossed up is gold.
Looks like fun doesnt it!
looks like LP thoroughly loved that!...those skills haven't left him at all.
AWESOME LP having a ball giving the old VW heaps!!
That video is the best so far, Your old man LIVIN it UP behind the wheel enjoying it still!!!!!!!!!!!! KOOL>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.
The smile on Larry's face said it all and a video on Automation Solutions would good I'd watch that.
Mean as episode jack seeing the old boy throwing the vw around track
Awesome stuff Jack with Larry fanging around in the Mallee Scrub I was over there a couple of years ago I was at Berri for a few days then went to Pinnaroo and on to Walpeup and down to Patchewollock to check out the Silo art around that area I also carted a lot of grain and livestock out of that country back in the 70s
That was bloody awesome!!
Happy as Larry,Still the Cowangie kid..
Great stuff Jack! Keep on smiling Larrikin 👍😎🇦🇺
Awesome, almost as good as being strapped in the co-pilots seat until the go-pro got scared and bailed out! Fantastic, what a ride!
Fucking mint!
Keep it up Jack, this series of videos on the cars and the restorations rivals anything we’ve seen on the subject of Aussie touring car racing.
But these vids you’re doing with LP will be with you and your family as well as all us Motorsport fans forever. What a great legacy you’re recording.
Great vid. Larry looks to have lost none of his driving skills and looked like he was having an absolute blast. The smile said it all. Thanks for sharing with us.👍
Cheers for sharing. So very cool.
LP true Aussie icon and in a VW tops it off.
I had a smile from ear to ear watching Larry giving it all the beans. My 17yo watched with me (after I gave him a run down of Larry's accomplishments) and he said he'd love to try that one day. Might have to investigate learn to rally courses for him, should be fun. Thanks for all of the entertainment Jack, Larry and team.
Good to see the ol fella back at it great footage Jack oh the memories
Nice one! Great to see LP letting his hair down before getting stuck into some farm work. It can't be long until this season's seeding starts in that neck of the woods.
The old boy has still got it.
Larry Perkins - what a skilled driver ! I wonder what the German design team would think of the performance of their masterpiece of engineering ?
World domination, perhaps? 🙂
I always say this but seeing Larry,s smile is just the best thing, what another great vid guys.
Great to see a true legend enjoying himself, as others have mentioned the smile tells the story. Steering technique ............. love it, a true master. On ya LP, live long and prosper. awaiting the next episode :)
Great seeing Larry having fun.
The first inboard video looked like he was just cruising around, then the external videos show otherwise. Looked like a real blast.
Larry looked like he was getting since around a bit in the drivers seat, but the smile said it all.
Looking forward to more of this kind of stuff, and Larry with his tongue out having a go.
Ole Lp, like a kid in a lolly shop, loves it....left nothing on the table, good to see him enjoying it...I'd imagine SVG will be doing the same thing at the same age!!!
Need to get SVG on the Cowangie Race Track!
I’d love to see a video on the Perkins family history in Cowangie and Motorsport. Eddy , Larry and Jack.
Cowangie is the Mallee version of ‘Radiator Springs’ from
the animated Cars Movie, A lot of history in that little town that needs to be retold so it ain’t lost.
Love the videos🤙
No cameras were harmed in the making of this vid.....oh, wait 😂
Haha it lives on!
Herbie goes bananas
Born a Mallee Boy, always a Mallee Boy and still a bloody Blue Tongue...
G'day Jack,
Well that was awesome seeing Larry go around the track it certainly gave me an insight to what it would've been like all those years ago.
But one things for certain you'll never see my 63 beetle on the tracks she'd get all dirty. 🤪
Anyhoo thanks for sharing.
✌️ Peace .
Edit: I'd love to see inside Automation Solutions
Brilliant I have a headache from laughing so hard, camera 3 awesome in car footage, camera 2 bit the dust from a wayward branch missed by the track officials in the pre-lap sweep and to be only 8 seconds off lap record after 40yrs is a testament to driver and race car engineering! Thanks Jack best clip ever
Great fun, cant keep a racer down! Volksie sounds brilliant.
The LP Dak Dak sounds sweet Jack, thankyou for sharing with us these really cool videos. Give my regards to Larry. K
man he was flying. the race driver in him wants new tyres now haha
great to see the bug out and about LP certainly gave it a good push, cheers for that video jack
Loved it… what an experience. Thanks LP and Jack
seeing all the extra tracks going left and right maybe LP took a wrong turn somewhere and drove a bit further around the circuit to be 8 seconds slower compared to back in the day 😀 ...
Good to see the blown out windmill mechanic having a bit of a fang. I can see a 10’ Southern Cross mill through the trees as I write this. Jeff
Haha cheers Jeff
Magic!
Yep, a bonus Automation Solutions ep would be great 👍🏼
That was absolutely awesome, great to see in so many viewpoints. Gee, the old drivers seat got a bit bouncy at times didn’t it?
