- Avatar Legend of Korra is out on Netflix, and after watching and reacting to Avatar The Last Airbender, I have to see it,
This is part 9 of my Avatar Legend of Korra reaction and commentary.
In this video I will be reacting to Legend of Korra season 1 episode 10 Turning the Sides.
In Legend of Korra episode 10, Amon begins his "endgame" as Team Avatar, Lin Beifong, and Tenzin (and Tenzin's kids?) do their best to keep Republic City from falling into Amon's hands.

Avatar Legend of Korra synopsis:
Avatar Korra fights to keep Republic City safe from the evil forces of both the physical and spiritual worlds.
#avatar #korra
Not gonna lie, Goodwin looks like he is slowly going insane in quarantine when he starts talking to melon lord and cabbage dude
LMFAO, at first i thought he replaced Melon lord with cabbage dude, but NOOO!!! Long live Melon Lord!!!!!
All he needs is a volleyball named 'Wilson'
I SWEAR TO GOD, I THOUGHT THAT WAS ME
@erika from that movie when that guys on the island
@@bensquires8625 that's the one LOL
The reveal that you weren't eating melon lord legit made me gasp
He will have to eventually, sooner or later that watermelon is going to rot. XD but who's to say he can't just keep buying watermelons and drawing different faces on them? XD
Lmao I thought he is eating melon lord and replaced it with cabbage guy 😂😂
@@OverTheMoon891 He can also buy some fake fruits xD
Melon lord always has the most insightful comments. The comments he makes are so accurate and descriptive. Take notes❤️
I agree
Excited to see cabbage lord's insight on the show in future reactions as well.
Melon lord has seen the war.
Cabbage Carl was always with the merchant traveling and selling.
So he has logic but no wisdom.
While Melon Lord has wisdom even if logic is difficult to find.
Nearly as wise as uncle Iroh... nearly.
Back in the day when this first aired, Lin’s sacrifice was (and still is) the most bad ass thing ever.
And her losing her bending was a stab in the heart and made you loathe Amon, but still respect him as a villain.
I love how Aang taught tenzin offensive airbending moves due to Aang experiencing that he can’t always be on defense
these are actually waterbending-based airbending moves, as indicated by the air spout.
he is katara's son too after all.
General Iroh: *"Tell her we will be arriving in 3 days time,* and that I look forward to retaking Republic City, *together."*
Us: 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
Me: "Like grandfather, *like grandson."*
The happiest part of this episode is definitely the sound of Dante Basco's voice and the name General Iroh. It's the refreshing breath after going through the darkness of what came before.
I think the thing with Tenzin, his wife and Lin is a great juxtaposition against tho Asami, Korra, Mako thing. In the sense of adults being mature about it, there is no tension or drama . But teenagers are different. That being said I do realize it is a very different situation but it is a still somewhat interesting reflection
Was I the only one who cried when Lin lost her bending?
I'm with you here 😭
No you were not. Lol
Jinora: Stay away from my dad's ex girlfriend!
Ikki: Get off our island!
Meelo: Taste my fury!
These kids are amazing:)
Fart bending to the rescue!
Meelo should have said
"Smell my fury" 😂
Meelo may be a little shit, but he is most certainly one of my favorites among the new airbenders.
TLOK Episode 1: Lin Beifong is a grumpy old woman who I probably will never like.
This episode comes out: *(Amon takes away Lin's bending)*
Me: 😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨
Ive seen people complain about Pemma going into labor as the island is under attack as being too plot device-y, but it makes sense with her stress levels at the time that it would induce preterm labor. Poor gal, I can imagine just how worried she must’ve been for her family
Physiologically, adrenaline, the fear hormone, is an agonist of oxytocin which is the hormone involved in childbirth. So fear would tend to stop (or slow down) a childbirth rather than trigger it.
Also this is her FOURTH birth, at that point labor goes really fast
@@Pioupiou92 I know this comment is 11 months old, but I just have to say, that is not always the case. Chemicals released due to certain events are different in how a person feels during stress. It does not mean she felt fear alone, but a combination, so you can’t really be so analytical when talking about emotion and the balance of chemicals released, as we all react and feel differently during a given high stress moment. Intense feeling of love could also be triggered, an instinct to protect or save those you love. It’s not a cut and dry phenomenon.
The intro for this video is peak comedy. We, as a society, can only go down from here.
This episode really solidified Lin’s place in my heart.
Edit: I totally forgot that General Iroh is also voiced by Dante Basco and everyone has the same reaction every time
Gotta love him
4:01
Tenzin: the general of the United Forces
Goodwin: is it someone we know?
Me: yes, but no
I saw this one insta and thought it was pretty accurate:
ATLA is about a human learning to be the avatar.
LOK is about an avatar learning to be human.
nah LoK is still about a human learning to be the Avatar. For 16 years, Korra never did any Avatar duty besides learning the elements. When she left the Southern Water Tribe, she started to learn what it meant to be the Avatar.
InfiniteZodiac facts
@@taelongx It's worth noting that Korra's entire identity is built around being the Avatar. A reason why she's uber afraid of losing her bending to Amon since that strikes out at her whole identity: "If she's not the Avatar, who is she?" A big side product to her learning her status at 4 or 5 when you're supposed to learn at 16
InfiniteZodiac Yes but she always knew and accepted she was the avatar. She embraced learning the elements from a very young age. Aang never wanted to be the avatar; he ran away from it. For 16 years korra did nothing but train to be the avatar, even if it was just the elemental side, with very little interaction with the outside world. Korra has to learn to interact with the outside world, while Aang must accept that he is the avatar.
InfiniteZodiac True, but it's more than that. Korra's arc is that she is more than just the Avatar, and that being the Avatar doesn't define her
They had us in the first half of the intro not gonna lie
Thank you for using the word "they."
Amon taking lin's bending away is so sad. Like meelo said "that lady is my hero"
same here, Meelo 😭
" I believe in Lin Beifong"
Don't we all 😍
Lin’s character was done so well in season 1. You went from being so frustrated by her attitude to being absolutely devastated when Amon took her bending.
General iroh is actually zuko's grandson.
He said that
If you would have let him watch the next episode where general iroh says that, he would have figured it out like those of us who have seen it...first did...
@@Bacontats yes, but they never directly mention that he's grandson.
gay ninja Iroh mentions Zuko as his grandfather in season 1
@@Bacontats He never directly said his grandfather was zuko
Fire has lightning, earth has metal bending, water has blood bending, and air... Fart bending 😂

Yeah, I can't wait to see his reaction to zaheer!
For those who are confused, general iroh is zuko’s grandson, and he’s only a few years older than korra. Iroh also voiced by zuko’s voice actor.
Edit: my bad he’s 36 😂
Connor are you sure He’s 36? Wow
My guy, why you gotta spoil?? And no, he's not "a few years older than korra" he's 36. Also, *izumi
I can't believe it took just 10 episodes until someone spoil something :(
Hope Goodwin didn't catch it :(
wdym spoiler? It was mentioned in one of the first episodes. I was just clarifying
Connor ohhhh I read 19 as his age, not h8e much old he is than korra. fair enough that’s my bad
Mr. Goodwin: "Uh hello Alex. Sorry to interrupt your playtime with your fruit and vegetable friends, but you got a Cease and Desist from a... Cabbage Corp. ?"
Great, first Sony and now Cabbage Corp.
Poor melon lord, he had to witness the death of his (brother?) right in front of him... #StopMelonAbuse

General Iroh is definitely a fav of mine and I actually wished he would’ve gotten more screen time in the series, and he’s actually Zuko’s grandson :) love these reactions and really look forward to more.
90% here for LOK reactions, 10% here for the Sweater Lord soap opera.
Why am I learning more about life and discovering myself more by watching a man react to a cartoon than I have from 20 years of life on this Earth. I swear Goodwin is some guru in disguise. Just so good at articulating such great thoughts and ideas.
seriously. Dude's basically giving out life lessons and advice like he was iroh in every video. It's crazy
Best reaction youtuber ever
He hearted meeeeeeeeeeee no wayyyy
Couldn’t agree more
The PumpkinMan facts
I’ve been noticing that almost all his thumbnails while watching ATLA and TLOK are shocked reactions. It leads me to a conclusion that The Avatar universe really takes you by surprise every time with it’s twists and revelations❤️
So can we all agree that Fartbending is a sub genre of Air bending and that Meelo is the greatest airbender of all time?
He should get his air bending tattoos for inventing fart bending.
Goodwin is creating an army
The writers were really like let’s give them emotional whiplash with Lin losing her bending and then seeing General Iroh immediately after
This is one of the BEST episode of the season!!!
Btw, I love that you gave Melon Lord a friend...
He has a friend for now...
An upload before midnight! What a pleasant surprise
P.S. Just got 5 seconds in. Y-you ate Melon/Sweater Lord!? I knew it was coming soon but I didn't expect it to be on camera :_:
P.S.S. You got me XD
Please keep making these intros more and more intricate. I'm here for it
LIN FREAKING BEIFONG MAN, my fav character of LoK
General iroh in lok is zukos grandson btw, zukos daughter is the current firelord and her name is azumi
So Iroh did end up becoming the Firelord in the future, who would've thought
@@joelchrono iroh didnt become firelord, after ozai it was zuko, and in lok its zukos daughter izumi
Colin Hartl yeah but after Izumi it’ll be Iroh
@@callmejulia96 i thought u were tslking about uncle iroh
i thought izumi wasnt revealed until season 3 or 4
MY THEORY is that Goodwin TV ate the original sweater lord and that’s just an imposter!
"What am I doing? What is going on?" are the most important questions to start healing ourselves. 😅
The look on Pema’s face when she leaves the room is great. After all, she’s the one who told Korra to confess her feelings! 😬
The eating Sweater Lord fake-out with that watermelon was one of the most gut wrenching things I've ever watched. Oh yeah, this episode is pretty sad too I guess idk.
Zuko is apparently the most successful and wise parent of all the team Avatar
Chills every fucking time. Lin is a boss. An absolute legend. And one of the most gorgeous animated characters I’ve ever seen (especially paired with Su, I can’t get over them.)
Meelo is truly our lord and savior, he invited fart bending...what a lad
“that lady is my hero.” me too, Meelo 😭
We get it you're Attractive Af and you have a great personality with tons of wisdom for some reason
😂
And so continues this Sweater Lord gag, except made even better. That intro was solid gold, man, got me so good 😂
As I'm sure you've noticed, people still have trouble fighting Airbenders 70 years after ATLA. That's Sozin's mark on the world for you. Tenzin is a beast, throwing around those mecha-tanks like they were just toys. It's actually kinda funny that the most OP element was given to a bunch of pacifists. Maybe it was the universe's way to balance it? 😛
The thing is, people forgot how to defend against airbending since there were no airbender for 100 years.
How’s quarantine been treating you lol. I see you’ve made some interesting friends. I think the isolation might be getting to you lol. Loved the video!❤️
I'm doing well, talking to fruits aside 😂
also these intros and heavier editing style are great lol
lin went out stone fucking cold. she's easily my favorite character.
I genuinely love watching you react to LOK (and ATLA before you finished it); I’ve watched both shows in their entirety but seeing your reaction as a first time watcher kind of makes me feel like I’m rewatching it for the first time too. And your commentary really makes me reflect on the lessons and philosophy from the show(s) more than I would otherwise
“Deus ex machina! Deus ex machina!”
lol that’s one way to hope for something not to happen
6:58 what he said there just reminded me of one thing...
"He became a legend because of who he was not for what he has"
The live action remake of that Spongebob episode where he stays inside and his friends are a napkin, a penny, and a chip.
I remember seeing this somewhere how Air is considered most broken bending form because of several reasons. It literally omnipresent on earth, its everywhere so it readily available to bend probably second only to fire which can be produced. Second its invisible, we only see it for visual cues. Third its radically different to the other styles and very versatile.
Its strong enough to lunch those mecha high into the air. It can be used both offensively and defensively and it can used easily for mobility.
SPOILER FOR SEASON 2 OF LOK

I thinks that's the reason the Lion Turtle gave the air element to monks. They knew about the potential of the element and tried their best to choose spiritual pacifists to have it.
This is probably my favorite episode from the first 2 seasons. It's just so loaded with meaning - and almost all of it in the second half too. Really amazing writing imo.
One of my favorite episodes. So emotional so powerful 😭
I get more emotional with age I swear😭😭
Same here. I like to think it's a good sign, that we just understand things better.
edit: without resorting to total cynicism
When this aired on TV I was SCREAMING. The sad end but then also Dante Basco coming in. A Rollercoaster.
“Real honor”.... ATLA FLASHBACKS
Sweater lord is pretty swag ngl
one of the best intros to any youtube video I've ever seen. that plost twist with melon lord still being alive? brilliant
That scene with Lin losing her bending always makes me cry. TT
*"Man gets trapped on deserted island, goes crazy and makes friends with cabbage and melon"*
Another thing that makes losing bending such a big deal, a lot of people have careers based around their bending. We saw Mako working in a factory with his lightning bending, thats high-skill labor, taking away somebodys bending can ruin their entire life's stability. Not every bender has these kinds of jobs, but a lot do.
I gasped when I saw the watermelon in your hand. Not gonna lie, I love the sweater lord and cabbage lord (?) as company. Those two are still better reactors than some channels out there!
i want cabbage man to disrespect lin again just to see goodwin bite his face
I always knew LOK could make anyone lose their minds... but this was too quick
General iroh the second is zukos grandson zuko had a daughter azumi and that’s her son
The contemplation of life at the end of this video is too real! LMAO 😂
Anyone else anxiously waiting for the next episode? It's been two days!
I know he said in the community post that Sony has been annoying with copyright strikes but he still said that the next episode would be up in an hour after that post, and that has definitely not happened. Hope everything is alright, copyright can be a bitch.
Yeah. I'm trying to wait patiently as well. i just enjoy these reactions too much.
I love that you've gone full wilson castaway
Best opening ever. Great plot twist leading with the cabbage lord 😂
I gotta say out of all the people reacting to this you consistently blow me away with your views and thoughts on this and it's what keeps me coming back every time. Keep up the good work, man.
Lin getting her bending taken away is one of the darkest moments of the entire show for me. I remember begging for someone to save her.
i love the parallel of lin destroying the airship and toph destroying the fire nation airships
I wasn’t ready to loose Melon/Sweater Lord. Glad to see he’s still doing well 🤣
"It's the cabbage and watermelon for me" Love these additions. Making your videos even better!
By the way I’m not sure you’ll get claimed for books 2 and 3-4. I think they only officially released the soundtrack for book 1? Not totally sure, worth looking into. The rest of the books might be from fans that managed to silence dialogue and sound effects. Again, not sure though
😯 That would be excellent if true. Thanks for the info!
I didn't get a chance to answer last episode, but for me, there's an element of such intense desire to be able to do what benders do that the loss feels even more crushing than a death would be. Most people who watch Avatar and Korra have a strong desire to be able to bend too, and since it's just not possible in our world (as far as I know, anyway) that desire will never be realized.
I weirdly get the same kind of loss when I learn that a rare kind of fruit has become extinct, like the 'old version' of bananas. The idea that I will never be able to personally taste that fruit is somehow upsetting, even if I've never tasted it before so there's no true sense of 'loss'. I can conceptualize that there is a thing I can never have, even without the full context of what having it would mean.
When Amon asked “TeLL m3 wh3re ThEy ArE? Lin could’ve just told a random incorrect location
I haven't rewatched Korra since it first came out. Its been interesting kindof rewatching it through you. I do remember screaming when General Iroh spoke with Zuko's voice. Hahahahaha
Imagine someone eating your brother in front of you and they still expect you to film a video with them.
Another thing with Amon's bending removal is that it is always framed the same way execution scenes usually are. Victim on their knees, gun to the back of their head.
In ATLA it is used as mercy for Ozai, but here it is shown to be almost worse than death.
I cut it from the video, but after I mentioned that she lost her bending for a worthy cause, I said that I hate it when characters in shows die for no reason. I think that was my mind making the connection between that scene and death.
the music track around 8:12 in this episode is one of my favourites ahhhh WHY SONY LET ME ENJOY
People need to subscribe to you,you look deeply into details and give great input and really look into things, probably my favorite reactor I have seen
When I watched this episode my anxiety hit the ceiling LOL
According to Katara, Rohan is a bender, so I trust her gut instinct.
Lin is a badass and will continue to be one throughout the whole show. 💙💙💙
One thing I think needs to be pointed out is that when Aang went to take away someone's bending, he uses both hands- a thumb on their heart and the other on their forehead. Amon only puts his thumb on the victims forehead. What's the significance of that, I wonder?
Lin gets the short end of the stick for the entire series and she deserves so much better. The way she gets treated in season 3 is particularly egregious. I'm still mad about it all these years later.
Amon taking Lin's bending is the most heartbreaking scene in this season.
Asami "don't blame your brother for something that you did"
mako: sorry Korra but I am confused
Korra: o boy smooching time
I love reaction videos with multiple reactors.
I know everyone rolls their eyes at the fact that pema goes into labour right now,
but stress can bring on early labour and she was already about to pop anyway xD
I felt the anxiety and the joy to see you react to the end!!! Especially the voice and the nameeee
