  • The Sony WH1000XM3's are incredible, but how good is the noise cancellation? Today, I test that feature onboard one of the loudest passenger planes you can fly in - the Dehavilland Dash 8.

What I really like about the ANC on these headphones, is that you barely need any volume to totally block out any ambient noise. I tested this on an airplane a few weeks back, and at 20% volume, all noise was completely gone. With regular headphones or cheaper models with ANC, you really need to bump up the volume in order to block it out!

Completely true! I do air travel every month and use a pair of these exact same headphones for the last 3 years, and it works perfectly. The loud noise of the airplane engines are completely obliterated by the ANC, especially on take off when the engines are on full blast. The comfort provided by these headphones after a few hours inside an airplane is simply amazing. I could not imagine air travel without them. That said i know there are other alternatives, but i never tested them, so no opinion on that. Another plus, they sound amazing. Thanks for the video!

Hello these headphone's are really really good in a lot of ways. I've had them for a few week's now and I can now give a honest review on them. I've have the Bowers and Wilken's Px's,Sennheiser px 550's and the parrot zik's and now these here. The build quality of them has gotten better from the last model mainly the fit. The noise cancelling is simply outstanding. The call quality isn't the best either. The sound signature on them is really good! My ear's did slightly sweat after a few hour's of wearing them though. These are The only headphone's I've ever owned that didn't cut out when I stepped into best buy! The touchpad you have to be precise with the gestures on it or you'll skip a song quite frequently. I also don't like the double tap to answer or pause you have to get that right to do either one of those. And other gripes are the long press of the power button on or off and that dang short ass charging cable they come with. It's like 2 or 3inches....

Too bad you didn’t compare with the prior version, the XM2. The noise cancelling on the XM3 is noticeably worse. So much so I returned mine and kept the 2s.

Like someone else says on here that the Wh1000xm2’s noise cancelling is better than the Mk’s .Android Andy another CZcams reviewer says 5he same thing to.Gym Caddy another CZcams reviewer says there’s not much difference either.I have the Wh1000xm2 and I used them on a trip to Jamaica and admittedly it cancelled out the engine noise. But to me a true test is how these headphones can do against car engines droning and ambulance sirens. And the car engines and ambulance sirens still get through the noise cancelling even with my music playing..So much hype and over exaggerating concerning the Wh1000xm3.Been thinking to upgrade to it from my MK2,but another £330 is not money to be sniffed at.

Why don't you all test these with human surroundings? Do you live in a world where human voices don't exist? I taken these headphone and these are not cancelling voices at all! Too much irritating!
