On the subject of kids nowadays trying to wear styles that are more adult I though this was a gorgeous balance of letting her curls have a bit of volume and texture she wanted, but still looking the way a normal 14 kid does, not too adult style of volume, which is lovely to see❤

This was so helpful because my 11 year old wears box braids in the summer and when it comes to taking it out and caring for it properly I be lost lol I would shampoo then detangle once the conditioner is in and be wondering why it’s so tangled smh 🤦🏿♀️. Thanks again!

I am so glad that you explained to the ladies that the hair that comes out after being in braids for many weeks is just the natural hair loss that would have happened if the hair were not braided. I tried explaining that to a friend but I don't think she believed what I told her.

I always used moisturizer on my hair and braids before taking them down to protect my hair from breakage. Then I moved on to the next steps. The type of hair you're working with makes a difference.
I get the whole shedding process, but that was quite a bit of hair. I always leave my braids up for 3 to 4 months and I never lose that much hair. I also never comb my hair buildup out while my hair is dry either though. I always use a detangling cream or conditioner to break the buildup down first. However..... I'm glad she didn't lose more than she did and her hair came out nice. ❤

Where have you been all my life? I have hair just like your daughter & have gone decades without finding the correct way to manage it. It's soft, fine & unlike my sisters 4C hair, it reverts quickly. Love this! I have always had very think, wavy hair. I have always shed lots of hair all the time. I wash it and I'm raking hair out of the bath bc it's all over me. I finger comb it out and have a handfull of hair, I add leave-in conditioner and have a handful of hair. Then, I comb it and get out another handful of hair. I can run my fingers through my hair at anytime and get lots of hair out. Been this way my whole life. I'm 56 and still have ver thick hair. I guess with thick hair, we are going to lose a lot of we'd be bald! I too use a flat iron to curl or just shape my hair and not really straighten it. Love it!
