I agree with you regarding the thinnest of the canvas and how they have changed the way they make the bag, I was going to buy the cognac but I watched your video and that was confirmation for me to not buy a new bag. I bought the pink one last year and I will not buy another new mcm bag. I bought a large preloved one a few years ago on eBay from Japan and yes that canvas and handles are quality. I’m looking for another one on eBay. I hope you find what you’re looking for and have a safe trip. TFS!

The night I filmed this video was very hard for me. I had a lot of stress at the thought of returning it. I also realized that it bag is as thin and lightweight as my Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM. Hello Ilene, I am sure you will find beautiful clothes and shoes to attend your granddaughters sweet 16. So exciting! I believe mcm is completely not consequent there are liz with Napa and some with polyethylene. I recently also ordered one and made sure it shows napa. I am still waiting for it to ship! I have the old versiond of all my liz and love them. I am excited to see how the newer version is. I love the black liz I first thought years back it's to understated but now I love exactly that! Hi Ilene!! It’s a beautiful bag, but if you have any doubts about it and feel that it’s just not your thing then if me I would return it. I think you and I are so very use to the GFG’S bags that not much else compares to them. I know I placed 6 orders and have gotten 2 so far since April 22nd. Got notice another shipped today. It’s hard to compare leather to theirs as it is just so thick and delicious, lol. You do what you feel in your heart and mind is right. If I have any doubts about a bag I normally will send it back. Those bags are not cheap to buy either, lol, and imo don’t compare to GFG’S, but maybe a little dressier as GFG is more of your everyday rough and tumble workhorse bag. Hope this helps!! What a loverly woman. We spoke for at least a half hour. I didn't buy shoes but I left the store feeling I had made a friend. I ordered a couple of jumpsuits online. If they work I will probably need sandles. I decided to keep this bag. I had a stressful night thinking of returning the bag. I recently ordered the Liz shopper in cognac from neimans and it was the old style I wanted. Initially, I thought the canvas was thin and was going to return it. Looked on Poshmark, found a lot of fakes. Was going to buy on eBay, but for a used bag in excellent to new condition without the pouch the price was around $500. It didn't make sense to me, when I could get brand new and know it was authentic for $200 more. Also, I realized the thinner canvas was fine because I really didn't want the bag too heavy and compared to my neverfull from 2017, the thickness was about the same. After I took the plunge, went back and purchased the black liz and I'm in MCM heaven. Good luck with your decision. I had the same dilemma.
@@BagHound That's great, I hope you get it and do an unboxing because it's beautiful. Also, you spoke about the lines in the canvas. I have a Mcm Vintage Visetos Tote (the one with the 26" handle drop , you see it frequently for sale online) and the canvas has lines it it as well. I wiped both bags down with non achohol baby wipes, let them dry and conditioned both bags with apple conditioner and the lines are not as pronounced and the cognac color really pops now. I am a bag lover as well and they have accumulated over the years and some require the care i provide to keep them at their best. I hope this helps. Best wishes with your upcoming purchase. Sorry your MCM is not working out I agree the older styles are of better Napa leather quality I believe too. I’ve had mine for 5 years and definitely a lot different companies to the current ones. I love the straps on the older ones. They should be making them of great quality leather for the increased price. I did pay $590 or so for mine back then. I hope you get the right one you will enjoy. Hi Ilene--I know this video is several months old, but thanks so much for posting. I just received my medium Liz (cognac) in the mail from Bloomingdale's, and although I was bracing myself for disappointment, I'm both happily surprised and a little confused...the Liz I've received (in December 2022) appears to be a different version from yours, with the gold studs on the base of the handles and the non-cubic interior print (a dark brown/white pattern with the blue MCM logo). The canvas also doesn't seem to be as thin as yours and has quite a bit of nice pebbled texture. I still don't think it's the same thickness as the original version of the canvas from several years ago, but it doesn't seem as papery thin and flopsy as the one you're showing here. I might be mistaken. But I just double-checked the Bloomingdale's listing vs. the MCM website listing, and the two sites seem to be selling two slightly different versions of this bag in the cognac. The MCM site has the version you're showing in cognac (cubic print and no handle studs) whereas Bloomingdale's has one with the studs and the older interior print. Why must they make this so confusing! 😅 I'm sorry this comment is so long-winded, but anyway, if you're still looking for an old(er?) version of this bag in cognac, Bloomingdale's might be the way to go...although I'm not 100% sure if they're still stocking the version I received. Hi Alexandra! Thank you so much for sharing this information with me. I might be wrong but I know Bloomingdale’s recently had a collaboration with MCM to celebrate their birthdays. I know they created a new Liz for the occasion which was made of black and white squares. Some people thought the new bag might contain the classic material they once used. My State doesn’t have a Bloomingdales. I have no way to feel the Liz without buying it first. In WA all Nordstrom stores, except their flagship location, no longer carry MCM so I can’t shop for that bag in person at all. I hope you enjoy your Liz Shopper!! It’s a great bag!! You can tell by the quality of the bags that they're not as substantial, so you're getting less. For the price, I'd return it and get one you really like. I'm sure you'll come across one you love and in fantastic condition. There is definitely a BIG change in the newer version. I have the same black one and I love it! I ordered the cognac one this week, and was extremely disappointed! The newer version is like paper compared to the old one. I’ll definitely be returning it!

I have had my eye on this bag and I am disappointed too. I saw these bags at Neiman Marcus about a year ago, in the Cognac and black, and they were pebbled and thick. Hi Ilene... I'm speaking from a purely personal( no judgments) and economic viewpoint when I say that 695$ is not an acceptable price for me for a "vegan" bag. I agree that it is very nice looking, but I totally understand your reticence in keeping it, especially because you have such doubts. I agree that you should look on the pre-loved market for the cognac version. You deserve to love what you have bought. I feel that color is such a classic! Hi Susan, Thank you 🥰 After this video I scoured the pre-loved market. I even spoke with two personal shoppers on each coast. I have decided to keep the bag in the video and am in the process of ordering a Cognac MCM tote too. Then I am going to slow down and enjoy my bags. After this video I had a very stressful night because of my decision to return the bag. I know it is not as I remember the precious version but there are a lot of new norms I have adapted to as of late. I rather have it thinner than not have it at all. I think this will be the perfect bag for the plane and my NY trip. One thing I do not miss is the hot summers of the eastern seaboard. We are still heating our house. I am still wearing a thick puffer coat. It will get hot, especially in July and early August, but by mid August we usually begin to get hints of Fall-like weather. From your video, I can see why you wouldn't like it, I wouldn't like it either. It's definitely not worth the price, imo. I remember a video you did a while ago about bags you had but never had the occasion to use them where you live. I have the card case in the new style and I hate it, it has a strange odor to it, thankfully I have several other pieces made from the old formula, but I've since stopped buying MCM because of this...and i wouldn't keep this bag, i know it's not politically correct but I can care less about going green and I wish companies would offer both and let the consumer make the choice and then to have the gall to raise prices to pay for their calling is unacceptable to me....Coach went green with some pieces last year and this year has featured fewer green pieces so maybe it didn't sell like they thought it would

I agree with you regarding the thinnest of the canvas and how they have changed the way they make the bag, I was going to buy the cognac but I watched your video and that was confirmation for me to not buy a new bag. I bought the pink one last year and I will not buy another new mcm bag. I bought a large preloved one a few years ago on eBay from Japan and yes that canvas and handles are quality. I’m looking for another one on eBay. I hope you find what you’re looking for and have a safe trip. TFS!

This is only part one of my Eco MCM experience. After much research and thought I decided to keep the bag. Yes, it is thinner..that is undeniable. The night I filmed this video was very hard for me. I had a lot of stress at the thought of returning it. I also realized that it bag is as thin and lightweight as my Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM. Although thinner than the previous version It is still a beauty. Please give it a try and decide based on your experience. You have 30 days to return the bag. Hello Ilene, I am sure you will find beautiful clothes and shoes to attend your granddaughters sweet 16. So exciting! I believe mcm is completely not consequent there are liz with Napa and some with polyethylene. I recently also ordered one and made sure it shows napa. I am still waiting for it to ship! I have the old versiond of all my liz and love them. I am excited to see how the newer version is. I love the black liz I first thought years back it's to understated but now I love exactly that! Hi Ilene!! It’s a beautiful bag, but if you have any doubts about it and feel that it’s just not your thing then if me I would return it. I think you and I are so very use to the GFG’S bags that not much else compares to them. I know I placed 6 orders and have gotten 2 so far since April 22nd. Got notice another shipped today. It’s hard to compare leather to theirs as it is just so thick and delicious, lol.
You do what you feel in your heart and mind is right. If I have any doubts about a bag I normally will send it back. Those bags are not cheap to buy either, lol, and imo don’t compare to GFG’S, but maybe a little dressier as GFG is more of your everyday rough and tumble workhorse bag. Hope this helps!!

I was initially shocked by the thinness of the canvas. I compared it to my Neverfull and the canvas is similar in thickness. This is MCM's new product. They are Eco friendly as are other fashion houses. I decided to keep the bag. I think I will get a lot of use out of it because it is so lightweight. It might be the perfect bag to take on the plane..

I recently ordered the Liz shopper in cognac from neimans and it was the old style I wanted. Initially, I thought the canvas was thin and was going to return it. Looked on Poshmark, found a lot of fakes. Was going to buy on eBay, but for a used bag in excellent to new condition without the pouch the price was around $500. It didn't make sense to me, when I could get brand new and know it was authentic for $200 more. Also, I realized the thinner canvas was fine because I really didn't want the bag too heavy and compared to my neverfull from 2017, the thickness was about the same. After I took the plunge, went back and purchased the black liz and I'm in MCM heaven. Good luck with your decision. I had the same dilemma.

@@BagHound That's great, I hope you get it and do an unboxing because it's beautiful. Also, you spoke about the lines in the canvas. I have a Mcm Vintage Visetos Tote (the one with the 26" handle drop , you see it frequently for sale online) and the canvas has lines it it as well. I wiped both bags down with non achohol baby wipes, let them dry and conditioned both bags with apple conditioner and the lines are not as pronounced and the cognac color really pops now. I am a bag lover as well and they have accumulated over the years and some require the care i provide to keep them at their best. I hope this helps. Best wishes with your upcoming purchase. Sorry your MCM is not working out I agree the older styles are of better Napa leather quality I believe too. I’ve had mine for 5 years and definitely a lot different companies to the current ones. I love the straps on the older ones. They should be making them of great quality leather for the increased price. I did pay $590 or so for mine back then. I hope you get the right one you will enjoy. Hi Ilene--I know this video is several months old, but thanks so much for posting. I just received my medium Liz (cognac) in the mail from Bloomingdale's, and although I was bracing myself for disappointment, I'm both happily surprised and a little confused...the Liz I've received (in December 2022) appears to be a different version from yours, with the gold studs on the base of the handles and the non-cubic interior print (a dark brown/white pattern with the blue MCM logo). The canvas also doesn't seem to be as thin as yours and has quite a bit of nice pebbled texture. I still don't think it's the same thickness as the original version of the canvas from several years ago, but it doesn't seem as papery thin and flopsy as the one you're showing here. I might be mistaken. But I just double-checked the Bloomingdale's listing vs. the MCM website listing, and the two sites seem to be selling two slightly different versions of this bag in the cognac. The MCM site has the version you're showing in cognac (cubic print and no handle studs) whereas Bloomingdale's has one with the studs and the older interior print. Why must they make this so confusing! 😅 I'm sorry this comment is so long-winded, but anyway, if you're still looking for an old(er?) version of this bag in cognac, Bloomingdale's might be the way to go...although I'm not 100% sure if they're still stocking the version I received. Hi Alexandra! Thank you so much for sharing this information with me. I might be wrong but I know Bloomingdale’s recently had a collaboration with MCM to celebrate their birthdays. I know they created a new Liz for the occasion which was made of black and white squares. Some people thought the new bag might contain the classic material they once used. My State doesn’t have a Bloomingdales. I have no way to feel the Liz without buying it first. In WA all Nordstrom stores, except their flagship location, no longer carry MCM so I can’t shop for that bag in person at all.

It's a beautiful bag, I like that it's all black!🖤😍 I love the lining too.😊 It's great that MCM is trying to be more "eco-friendly" but I suspect there's also an expense component to this new process.🤔 Many bag brands are doing it too. You can tell by the quality of the bags that they're not as substantial, so you're getting less. For the price, I'd return it and get one you really like. There is definitely a BIG change in the newer version. I have the same black one and I love it! I ordered the cognac one this week, and was extremely disappointed! The newer version is like paper compared to the old one. I’ll definitely be returning it!

I have had my eye on this bag and I am disappointed too. I saw these bags at Neiman Marcus about a year ago, in the Cognac and black, and they were pebbled and thick. Hi..This bag feels practically weightless. I don't recall the heaviness of the older version. The new version is super thin but worth giving it a try if you are interested in it. I love the old Visetos pebble. That is the reason I was looking to by this bag at this time. If I didn't have expectations I might have felt differently.

Hi Ilene... I'm speaking from a purely personal( no judgments) and economic viewpoint when I say that 695$ is not an acceptable price for me for a "vegan" bag. I agree that it is very nice looking, but I totally understand your reticence in keeping it, especially because you have such doubts. I agree that you should look on the pre-loved market for the cognac version. You deserve to love what you have bought. I feel that color is such a classic! Hi Susan, Thank you 🥰 After this video I scoured the pre-loved market. I even spoke with two personal shoppers on each coast. I have decided to keep the bag in the video and am in the process of ordering a Cognac MCM tote too. Then I am going to slow down and enjoy my bags. After this video I had a very stressful night because of my decision to return the bag. I know it is not as I remember the precious version but there are a lot of new norms I have adapted to as of late. I rather have it thinner than not have it at all. I think this will be the perfect bag for the plane and my NY trip.
One thing I do not miss is the hot summers of the eastern seaboard. We are still heating our house. I am still wearing a thick puffer coat. It will get hot, especially in July and early August, but by mid August we usually begin to get hints of Fall-like weather.

This bag does nothing for me. Too expensive for a vegan bag.
Hi..It turns out it is not Vegan.. That was mis-information I received. The handles, feet and center strip are Napa leather. I was initially shocked at the thinness off the canvas. I compared it to my Neverfull and the canvas is similar in thickness. This is MCM's new product. They are Eco friendly as are other fashion houses.

From your video, I can see why you wouldn't like it, I wouldn't like it either. It's definitely not worth the price, imo. I remember a video you did a while ago about bags you had but never had the occasion to use them where you live. I'd suggest "shopping" in your closet and use a bag you haven't used yet and enjoy it at your granddaughter's Sweet 16. I hope you have a wonderful time. Let us know what bag you decide to carry!

The night I filmed this video was a hard one for me. I was wrought with indecision and stress. I realized I would regret returning it. I decided to keep this bag. The difference in thickness is glaring compared to the MCM I had a few years ago but there are other things I love about this bag that make it something I really want to keep. I will do an updated video.

I have the card case in the new style and I hate it, it has a strange odor to it, thankfully I have several other pieces made from the old formula, but I've since stopped buying MCM because of this...and i wouldn't keep this bag, i know it's not politically correct but I can care less about going green and I wish companies would offer both and let the consumer make the choice and then to have the gall to raise prices to pay for their calling is unacceptable to me....Coach went green with some pieces last year and this year has featured fewer green pieces so maybe it didn't sell like they thought it would

Yes. It did come with a dust bag. I returned it because the bag is much thinner than the previous mode. It is now an Eco bag. MCM has changed this bag for how I remember the previous version to be. Thank you so much for watching 💕
