Wow-Wow-Wow. Just watched 2019 documentary (Gordon Lightfoot: If You Could Read My Mind) and was totally intrigued by this version of the song that was sung in its intro. I did not know who the vocalists were and my internet search landed me here. As a long time fan of Lightfoot, both Diana & Sarah probably do one of the best interpretation of it, and that's saying a lot considering how many other great artists have covered this masterpiece. Bravo!
🌹🕊️🌠🕯️🗽🙏🇨🇦 I once heard Gordon sing, this song, Once long, ago in New York City, It's Ghostly Sounds Still Reverberates Hauntingly, In my Mind, and still Touches My soul. Rest in Peace, Sundown, From the Crew Of Edmund Fitzgerald, And your, Many Fans🇨🇦 🌹🕊️🌠🕯️🙏
A lot of Canadian talent here! Diana Krall from Nanaimo, BC on the west coast and Sarah McLachlan from Halifax, NS on the east coast singing a song by Gordon Lightfoot from Ontario. 🇨🇦
Last night i was scrolling through documentary features of singers that I could watch. I never knew the original singer (Gordon Lightfoot) but I heard the song when I was young in the 70s. I got curious about the title "If You Could Read My Mind" so I went on to watch it. Then I heard this version/cover at the beginning and I told myself to search. Diana Krall and Sarah McLachlan were one of those interviewed in the documentary so I thought maybe it's them. Then this morning, the first thing I did was look for this version and voila! I love it as much as Mr. Lightfoot's. And the lyrics, beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Omg! Just found this version by accident. I’d never heard it before and it’s just drop dead spectacular. I am for ever in love with Gordon’s original but this is definitely my favorite cover of all times.
This version is played early on in the recent Canadian-produced documentary on Lightfoot's life --- If You Could Read My Mind is the title of the film. Available for viewing on Amazon Prime and other streaming sources, even CZcams, I think. It's quite a stunning cover by two immensely talented (Canadian) ladies.
It's so amazing how a lyric can reach our soul and explain exactly what is inside. Beauty and strong, hard and painful at the same time. (And with those two great singers)
Jesus....I must be going thru manopaus !!I'm sitting here getting all teary eyed. This is the 4th cover I listened to. Cash, from the sound track of 54 and Neil. The others didn't make me cry...dammit !!
Just discovered this listening to a Sarah playlist on Spotify. Always been a fan of the original so this was a very lovely surprise. I know of Diana but never really followed her music. I think I have to now. Would appreciate some pointers as to where would be a good place to start (as far as her catalog)
Diana, come on! Try again, I still think you are gorgeous! This song with your fellow Canadian singer I find very beatiful. I understand your feelings, but I’m still with you!
This can be found on Wallflower: The Complete Sessions (be sure you get the complete sessions). I don't think music gets better than a duet with Diana Krall and Sara McLachlan.

Beautiful Brace of Canadian talent.
She's a rare person who can bring the right feel to this Lightfoot classic, other than the master Gordon.
