Free practice at Imola is over on Friday and the Tifosi will be sent into delight as Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari was the fastest driver of the day and Ferrari are looking very strong and like they are in a position to take the fight to Red Bull and potentially beat Max Verstappen and make it two races in a row where Red Bull don’t win. Closely matching Ferrari’s pace was Mclaren as Lando Norris would have been the fastest driver and Oscar Piastri were looking very strong once again in practice. In this video we will be taking a look at the data from practice and comparing the fastest laps to see who is looking strong where and who has work to do. We will also be looking at how Sergio Perez was almost a lot faster than Verstappen today as well as Mercedes as their new upgrades have unlocked some pace for Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
We will also be looking at Aston Martin as Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll also have upgraded cars but they look like they have moved backwards and now will be facing pressure from Yuki Tsunoda in the VCARB. What else did we learn well lets find out.

What an interesting weekend, I hope Red Bull are not just playing everyone. This could turn into an incredible season
You and me both
They aren't if you look at how he struggles with grip. FP3 could show us if they solved it, especially in their long runs. Pole and P1 are up for grabs it seems.
I kinda see a pattern here. If you look at last year, Redbull struggled at Singapore a bit because of the bumpy nature of the track. Imola's middle sector has bumps in it and Max has been dropping 0.350s - 0.400s there all Friday
1. Leclerc
2. Norris
3. Verstappen
4. Piastry
5. Sainz
6. Yuki
7. Russel
8. Hamilton
9. Hulkenberg
10. Alonso
Sounds good to me for the race
Mate. First time I've seen these videos and absolutely love them. Great work. Thank you.
Thank you so much, I appreciate that, I hope to see you around more ☺️
First to this video, practice was so good we actually have a season on our hands this year
I really hope so, it's going to be fun
Good work
First time I see you
I worked a lot in telemetry 20 years ago playing F1 2000-2002
Thanks.
Thank you so much, I used to play that game a lot 🤣
BBC’s Andrew Benson reporting that Piastri fastest on race simulation runs ahead of Leclerc then Norris. Haven’t seen the data for this. George Russell also commenting that McLaren look favourites and quickest again. Interesting to see how it shakes out tomorrow. Piastri seems very upbeat in his media interviews.
Absolutely it's going to be very exciting, I actually hope the race is dry now as opposed to wet
@@MrPulseF1 Can’t upload the image here, but Albert Fabrega via X has produced some interesting analysis of the long runs in FP2 for each compound. Piastri (hard compound) averaged faster than Leclerc and Norris (medium compound). Everything could turn on its head today with the changing wind conditions. No idea on fuel loads either. Very excited for today’s sessions!
Very good video
Lot of useful info
Thank you so much for that ☺️
It's interesting that part of Merc's improvement is removing the "Y-250" vortex generator from the front wing
AHH I hadn't noticed that. Well it was a good idea just didn't execute as hoped
Very interesting practice sessions. The one Norris lap he bailed on looked a good half second faster than LeClerc before he jacked it up and bailed. Going to be an interesting Saturday.
Mclaren topspeed was way higher than Ferrari
@@amineelb6863 yep. Will be interesting how everyone narrows setups tomorrow as it seems everything hinges on that for once rather than the car itself and luck levels.
He was 0.5 up before Leclerc improved on his softs. I think in the end it would have been a tenth max or so, either way it's super close and it is going to be exciting
Amazing video. Great analysis. May I ask where I can get the telemetry?
F1 Tempo
I would expect Tsunoda to be good on this track since Imola is home turf. He has test drive on this track for his team more than any of his competitors. His rhythm in the practice run is evident. Hopefully, his car has robust pace on race day so that things can be interesting for us fans.
Craaaazy practice! Ferrari and McLaren look genuinely quicker than Red Bull, unless they can solve their problems.
My qualifying predictions:
P1 Leclerc
P2 Norris
P3 Sainz
P4 Verstappen
P5 Piastri
The Red Bulls might both make up a position or two in the race.
So far they are quicker. Red Bull have work to do but I wouldn't be surprised if they find a better balance for qualifying and the race. It's going to be exciting
@@MrPulseF1 Yes, very exciting! I know we sometimes complain about Verstappen dominating and all that, but we're getting treated to some great weekends every now and then!
My prediction for tomorrow:
1- Leclerc
2- Norris
3- Verstappen
4- Sainz
5- Piastri
Yep I am seeing a lot of that for a top 5 from others ☺️
Norris
Piastri
Leclerc
Verstappen
Stroll
@@DekarNL stroll?
Of course Charles will be P1 and win the race. The Ferrari will do the biggest come back ever seen in formula 1. Max will need to watch his back.
We can hope so, McLaren and Ferrari are definitely in the mix now
As the RB team has recently, clearly proved, just how complicated the F1car setup can be, the boring ‘Sprint race’ side show should be dropped asap to restore the F1unique edge over all other car racing categories. As proof, in 2 races, the RB car has gone from being virtually invincible to a problem setup car.
YESSSS Charles is showing everyone why he is number 1 at Ferrari
He is doing well so far this weekend. Let's see how qualifying goes
thats track dependent tho.
I am so happy with Albon's contract extension with Williams. ❤. He is happy there, they like him so thats nice. My dad and several other people say so he is not going to a big team then. I am like, no but thats fine because he feels committed to Williams and there is nothing wrong with that if you know you are comfortable there despite the teams struggles. I rather see Alex long term at Williams where they support him than being thrusted into a big team and then to be dropped out of F1 like what happened in 2020. No need to when he is ver loyal to Williams ❤
Yeah both Albon and Williams are perfect for each other, it's a more relaxed environment than say a works manufactured team so it is a great combo, I am happy for him too
@@MrPulseF1 Alex feels loyal to Williams for giving him a second chance in F1. You can see James Vowles really rates him and wants to build the team around him and when you are a driver with the full team support, you are so committed to stay with them and thats exactly the case with Alex ♥️
I know it has been a tough start to the season for Williams but hoping so soon thry can havee some luck. I know Alex was unlucky in fp1 with the mechanical failure but managed to get back out for FP2 so hoping they can build up this weekend
Bad British Teeth aside, another excellent recap!
Our prediction for qualifying: Max; Checo; Lando; Charles; Fernando; Carlos. P2 to P6 could easily change as they are evenly matched. Ha-ha Even
No qualifying video bud?
I didn't have any power for most of Saturday evening or Sunday morning so couldn't really do much 😕
Predictions 1.leclerc 2. Piastri 3.Norris 4.Perez 5.verstappen 6.sainz 7.Russell 8.Hamilton 9.tsunoda 10.Riccardo
Perez ahead of Verstappen would be good to see 👀
Not gonna happen lol
@@DekarNL well this went well piasrti and Norris true tho and Riccardo and Hamilton
1. Norris
2. Leclerc
3. Piastri
4.Hamilton
5. Russel
6. Tsunoda
7. Sainz
8.Verstappen
9. Perez
What a grid lineup that would be for the race 😀
Ferrari are show boating in front of their home crowd (with a turned up engine). The car does look like it’s working nicely though with the upgraded. McLaren look dangerous especially when you look at Norris aborted FP2 lap on softs. Red Bull have a bit of work to do but I think they will win on Sunday
So far this weekend, the FIA has been given irrefutable proof that the 'Sprint race' side show should be dropped ASAP as all teams need to be given the opportunity to provide optimum set up, on race day, to be what F1 is all about 'being the best of the best against the best of the best' on race day.
no it shakes it up more. which is what the sport needs and very welcome
@@michaelhelbrow7906 Why bother watching F1 at all when you prefer a 'fake' 'Netflix' modified side show
Why do you think F1 teams should spend big bucks to give all F1 fans the ultimate, 'best of the best' motor racing experience when you want the FIA & F1 management to lose competitiveness & possibly car safety by forcing boring 'sprint race' side shows that undermine the essence of what F1 racing has always been. "the best of the best at their best, again all the other teams" !!!
it all seems to me like a real REDBULL SAND BAGGING
saturday
pole position vestappen
sunday
winner vestappen
He sounded a bit elated from his usual self for sandbagging
He did win but I wouldn't say sandbagging 😅
Leclerc
Norris
Sainz
Piastry
Yuki
Max
Sounds like a good Grid for the race to me 😀
Who you guys got your money on for championship??
If this continues then I have no idea. I think it's going to be between Lando Leclerc and Verstappen
@@MrPulseF1 🫣 I put all my money on Hamilton
Ha-ha!!! It's scary to see how quickly you write max off. Gentle reminder with a question: Who has taken pole in every race this year???? Knowing that the RB team still has the best car 'on track', with your expertise & research back ground, how can you even imagine that Max will be P4 and Checo lost in the pack?
On race day, all the other teams may have an outside chance to beat Max as Max is doing a 24 hr simulation race, on line, and may be not up to his best. ha-ha ..... but ......... knowing Max, he will win the race despite the negative effect the 24 hr simulation race will have on his attention span.
McLaren are faster than ferrari
Its close but no. Both are definitely faster than Red Bull
You could be right, I do think Norris would have been fastest
Max has his old tricks. If he sees Leclerc n Norris faster than him, he will take them out in a first corner incident so he can keep his lead.
I mean he has to qualify close enough for that to happen first
You should stop saying top 5 teams and instead say top 4 teams and Alonso!
True true, 🤣 although at this rate it might be Top 4 teams and Tsunoda
RB20 is a complete fiasco , all of this huge performance loss is because of that ungrateful old man traitor adrian , who thought that he could make the zerosidepod design work , because of adrian newey redbull are finding major issues to find the correct setup , the RB 20 is oversteery , understeery , unbalanced , inconsistent performance , undrivable tractor , less powerful and has no triple drs , and so much worse than the RB 19 , they should go back to the design of the RB 19 asap
wtf
I can assure you that Newey leaving will have zero to do with the struggles so far. F1 just doesn't work that way, these parts will have months of lead time before coming to the car
