  • An autopsy of Nigeria's foray at the 2023 Nations Cup evaluating the teams formation, strategy and key performances. We also delve into what the ideal formation and strategy of the Super Eagles should be moving forward as recommendations for the incoming manager. A shot is also made at recommending how the team should be improved towards qualification and excelling at the next World Cup in the USA/ Mexico in 2026 which includes blending the trio of Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface and possibly Michael Olise into a potent attacking trio in a 3-5-2 formation.

    The new super eagle coach in person of Finidi George must do everything possible to convince Michael Olise to play for Nigeria. We are seriously lacking a creative midfielder

      Agreed. It will be easier if Nigeria qualifies for the World Cup though. Its not likely going to happen before then

    We have good midfielders but I don’t understand why the federation won’t call them..we have Tom dele bashiru and his brother in hataspor, we have Kelechi nwakali,we have akin Eben,we have too many blessed midfielders but the federation is to blame

  • @LawrenceEkoro
    @LawrenceEkoro Před 26 dny +4

    3 5 3 is the best formation for the super eagle, Nigeria super eagle needs a blend of both foreign and local players to make the team formidable. The new coach coming to occupy the hot sea should capitalise on this...the home base players should be given a chance only then you will see the super eagles doing wonders in football.

      Home based aren’t good enough and it’s obvious but we all are reluctant about it
      The home based couldn’t even qualify for caf champions league or reach semi finals in confederations cup and you want them to play and afcon or World Cup 🤦😂

    • @GreaterNationSports
      @GreaterNationSports  Před 24 dny

      The really good players dont stay long in the Nigerian league so there are probably not many really good players left. Like @emmzshinny said the poor performance in the CAF champions league says it all

    Peseiro made mistakes in every game but was unfortunate only in the Finals. What is wrong in using attackers like Iheanacho and Moffi to play your defensive/Counter- attack style

    • @GreaterNationSports
      @GreaterNationSports  Před 24 dny

      At least Moffi should have had more playing time

      You don't touch a winning strategy.
      You say what you like, but that is theory of coaching. Even if you have Messi and Ronaldo but benching them wins you game, you have to bench them to win, no matter how good the are.
      We think like fans, sometimes think from the management perspective.
      Example, in the finals aina had an injury but the coach made a tough decision to play him y:
      1. He is part of the winning team.
      2. If he had not played he would still be accused for benching him without reason. (Is not everything in camp that management let out). (An alternate idea would be aina start, then quit 20 minutes into the match. But that would mean 1 less sub in the second half. And deep in a tournament you need reinforcement especially in second half)
      My point is that game dynamics and realities on ground determine what coaches decide to do. No coach ever wish to have bad results.

    • @emmzyshinny
      @emmzyshinny Před 24 dny +1

      We need more better options in the wings chukuweze and Moses are skillful but they aren’t effective and the have more poor performance over good

    Jose Peseiro tried something and it clicked for him, but unfortunately his luck ran out in the finals. 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 would have won us that game

    The analysis is not just wrong is the wrongiest if such word existed.
    Aina was injured in that final.
    That team was exhausted through the tournament. becos that formation is energy sapping (much like conte formation).
    The coach gave the team the best setup, given the run outs prior to the tournament.
    No kne changes a winning strategy, short and simple. Anyone blaming anyone should go pick fifa license.
    The olise and eze everyone is talking is coming to offer boatang to nigeria. The will only play the day and way the want. Thats not team building.
    The major blame for me if to the local league organizers, if the nigerian league is organized good hungry and talented players can be gotten. Keshi fid it. The defense then like oboabona never had much experience and exposure.

    • @GreaterNationSports
      @GreaterNationSports  Před 21 dnem

      Thanks for your submission. Yes we found out Aina was slightly injured but it doesn't imply that he was maximized or that he was the best option in that match. Prior to the tournament Poseiro didn't explore the 3-5-2 and the idea is that even if the 4-3-3 worked in some matches it is necessary to be flexible and have the 3-5-2 as an option if needed
