  • Ryusuke Hamaguchi, who is now gaining recognition with his film “Drive My Car”, unravels how he confronts fiction and reality.
    A message to all filmmakers;
    “I think short films are very important, I am not saying this because this is a short film festival. I made the film ‘Tengoku ha made toi’ after I shot ‘Happy Hour’, this film made me reassure what I have been making and realize what I wanted to do using film. I felt that doing that for a short film, where doing so is rather a lower risk, was extremely important. I am thinking of continuing making short films.
    I also feel that making a short film is an encouraging starting point for creators. There is not much at stake and you can make as many films as you like. After a while you would start to feel confident and might try a feature length film! “
