    How to use a shemagh, also known as tactical scarf or
    The keffiyeh or kufiya (Arabic: كُوفِيَّة‎ kūfiyyah, meaning "from the city of Kufa"[citation needed] (الْكُوفَة); plural كُوفِيَّات kūfiyyāt), also known as a ghutrah (غُترَة), shemagh (شُمَاغ šumāġ), ḥaṭṭah (حَطَّة), mashadah (مَشَدَة), chafiye, dastmal yazdi (Kurdish: دستمال یزدی‎) or cemedanî (Kurdish: جه مه داني‎), is a traditional Arab headdress, or what is sometimes called a habit, worn in the Middle East with origins from the Fertile Crescent (Iraq, the Levant, and Egypt)[citation needed] fashioned from a square scarf, usually made of cotton.[1] It is commonly found in arid regions as it provides protection from sunburn, dust and sand. Toward the end of the 1980s, the keffiyeh became a fashion accessory in the United States and, during the 2000s, it became very popular among teenagers in Tokyo, Japan, where it is often worn with camouflage-style clothing.[2]

Just laying over the top of my head but I'll pull the top down to cover my eyes to shield me from the light she has on. Even if she goes to bad early or b4 me I'm still so use to wearing it I still use it. They have become like a safety blanket to me or like a child's woobbie or somthing. I love my Shamog I usually wear it every day of the year since I got it . It and trekking poles I always thought was strange until I started using them out backpacking now I love them and can't understand why others don't use them as well .

    • @cbass0684
      @cbass0684 Před rokem

      Treking poles are useless for anything other than river crossings, and even then you can just pick up a branch to measure depth. You're better off without the (cumbersome to pack/store) pole, keeping both hands free for balance and obstacle clearing. Spoken as a very experienced outdoorsman and military veteran.
      Shemaghs are only useful in a windy desert environment to reduce sand in eyes and face. And even then it's a tradeoff with elevated body temperature because you're losing heat ventilation from the top of your head which will heat and dehydrate you faster, reducing your endurance.

The last few years until I retired I used one at work around the neck in the winter when our heat was less than optimal. Just a heads up if you are using a kaffieyeh for military or other purposes please get one that is actually originated from a middle eastern country.
    Don’t get those cheap ones from eBay (they are probably Chinese) just a rip off.
