I live in Rome for 7 years now, and totaly agree with you. The city has become a big trash can. It's disgusting. I live in a pretty good area and it's the same. I visited a lot of much poorer countries like Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Brazil(i'm half brazilian), Albania and never seen a situation like this. Even brazilian favelas are more clean, no kidding. It makes me ashamed. The city is becoming unlivable. Authorities still doing nothing.

Albania, Peru, Brazil?? Really?? I also went to these countries and although they are not as crowded as Rome they were a dump, not to mention Paris or Berlin

Everything depends on the education of the population. Look at Japan for example and see why it's so clean and they don't even have garbage cans on the streets. In Romania we have dumpsters everywhere and it's still not as clean as in Japan.

To be honest, I didn’t see any ‘trash problem’ in the video. Infact all I saw was despite the apparent lack of trash cans, the Roman streets you showed looked quite clean and tidy.

I’m in Rome and it is so disgusting. I regret I booked a trip here. The trash and graffiti takes away from the city. To see it in person is jarring. This place is giving DR vibes.

The sites are amazing. The history is amazing. You just have to look up, over, around and through the trash and graffiti. Enjoy the best parts and disregard the rest. =)
Thanks for the note and for watching.

Its worse than trash in my opinion.
We uk tourists were scammed by rome hilton hotel, we think, simply because we bought airline tickets from uk to rome, a two leg flight...we never got to rome therefore losing cost of 2 nights at rome hilton hotel...and paying iver the odds fr the return flight frm uk to rome...we flew out with
EUROWINGS they also lost our luggage, we had to pay for new accomodation in germany and buy new clothes.
We emailed Eurowings to claim our luggage they replied they dont even know where it is..
Beware beware of booking Eurowings flights and beware of visiting rome too.
Now one of these is a SCAM, either Eurowings or Rome hilton hotel, and posdsibly rome international airport, as we were told our luggage went to rome. What kind of Scam is this..
Lastly after doing research we found out rome is filthy trash everywhere and us smelly, stinking drains problem...Like guy says here rome has a trash problem, and it appears treats visitors like trash...Horrid country in our opinion..

Did you see the ones in Turkey ? A small bin on the surface then a lorry comes at night and lifts a hidden reservoir out the floor and empties it? I think they’re in Florence too? So why not Rome? Such a shame!

Believe me Sir. I am here now and in person it is terrible. The graffiti and trash is ramped. I could not find a clean street until I visited the Vatican in Vatican City. Online I was duped too but in person it is horrid. I have lived in other countries and this is equivalent to the Dominican republic.

I watched this video and Rome's streets look reasonably clean to me in them. A little litter here and there but not particularly serious. The city looks stunning and there are other videos out there of Rome which show the city in a worse light. It is possible the level of cleanliness may vary with time.

@@gazey Compared to what? It's one of the wealthiest countries in the EU. The cities do have bad sections, but this guy walks around slums in Rome and Naples (which are generally nowhere near as bad as US ghettoes) and then whines about graffiti and garbage. I guess he's unaware that all of these cities have wealthier and upper-middle class sections that are clean enough to eat off the pavement -the slums he tours are just one angle from which to view these cities. And go to the worst section in any Italian city and you could still walk the streets safely at any time of the day or night, unlike many American cities.

  • @themaskedman221

Imagine an Italian, or any European for that matter, visiting San Francisco and making videos about all the trash, urine and homeless people in the streets. I'd love to see it, but have yet to encounter one. Like any other country, Italian cities have good and bad sections, but even the worst sections are generally safer than many American cities, at least to the extent where you could walk the streets at any time of the day or night without worrying about getting robbed or shot (and, indeed, film the garbage and moan about all the filth). If you're going to tour and film the slums, naive viewers should at least be made aware that these sections are but one angle from which to view these cities. Wealthier and Upper-middle class urban sections and suburbs in Italy are usually very clean.
FYI -I'm American myself so this isn't meant as an insult to all Americans (who are my countrymen). Just the ones who make videos whining about graffiti and trash in Europe and yet do nothing to clean up the dumps in their own backyard.

I dont know that they understand the significance of the filth on the tourists... If they are talking more about how dirty it is over talking about how amazing the Pantheon was, then they have a huge issue. I am a tourist and it impacts me... =) Its something they need to address. =)
