  • The JP-5™ has been all the rage for the last few years, but is it actually the best PCC for what you're doing? John Paul and Cory K have plenty of experience with both the JP-5™ and GMR-15™ and have some good insights on why you might go with one over the other. Check it out if you're in the PCC market.

I began shooting with a FM-9 PCC, which performed well. A few years later, I went with a GMR-15 and it proved 100% reliable out of the box with any ammunition or magazine. This year, I upgraded to the JP-5 and although I was skeptical that it's performance would match the hype, I am pleased to confirm that it does! There is essentially zero recoil and it is insanely accurate. On steel plate racks I used to have to wait a few milliseconds for the dot to come down on the GMR, but with the JP-5 I can just sweep the muzzle from plate to plate with zero upward dot movement. Agree that the JP-5 is geared to competition!
Big thanks to John Paul and his team for helping advance the shooting sports and giving us competitors high quality tools for achieving our best.

I have two GMR-15s (one standard and one a side charger). I shoot both USPSA and IDPA monthly along with several big matches each year. These platforms perform without issue and digest everything I put through it. I would not hesitate to suggest a JP for action shoot shooting.

I have both the GMR-15 and the JP-5 I love both of them. But the reliability of the GMR is unbeatable.

@@djsity I've seen so many people have issues with their JP-5 especially when using lower power factor ammo. People think that you can use what ever ammo straight out the box with a JP-5 and this couldn't any more false. This is why JP sells lockers, springs, etc because you will need to tune your JP-5 with the ammo you plan on using. While with the GMR-15 being a direct blowback will just eat through anything. I got tried of having failures with my JP-5 and trying to tune it, that I said fk it and went back to my custom build PCC that is direct blowback and shoots 127 PF ammo at matches. Now if you do any kind of commpetition shooting, you will now that there is a better PCC design called a bearing delay by mean arms, which is a million times better then a JP-5, and mean arms have partnered with Unrivaled Technology to develop the best flattest and softest PCC out there, that will shoot any kind of ammo.

@@DJG37Sexcept the mean arms eats ejector springs, theres alot of posts on forums of 1000-1500 rnd spring life.....if you're not smart enough to swap to a 70 locking piece for factory ammo then maybe try an AK😂

Barring sub 16 inch barreled JP5s (due to unfortunate state law) which set up would be the recommendation for home defense?
