    Does anyone have the title of a book on how to refine rhodium? The one here in the video seems to be in Russian, which is fine. If someone could tell me that name or another one on refining rhodium that would be great.

    I am sorry but maybe it is my ignorance, but it seems you just are not explaining enough to know why you are doing each step? What are the dangers in each step? What is the goal of each step and what is your final outcome that you desire (What state is the final product in? Metal coin? Beads? Powder. How can it be sold and in what state? I do have a question: What is the cubic feet per minute of a fume hood? I want to make one.

      Nothing special will happend in skin kontakt, if you wash it before 30 sec it's not even discolored pigment of your skin. But it's really bad if to much goes to breathing system not only lungs. It's goes to blood by gumes and does big injury to the immunology and neurology system and it's very similar efect to bolerious but faster. The autor of this dont tell us everything becouse material with
      He rafining it's from the scrap of Rhodium nanoparticle bimetalic acetic carbonyl clusters and this form of begin is very soliuble ( it can be disolved in simply 30%HCL in few ouers)

    • @chemistry7119

      The layer of rhodium is very thin. Stripping the rhodium is very difficult. Only silver parts possibly stripping rhodium. But I do not have any sample to test method.

    • @djcbanks
      @djcbanks Před 2 lety +4

      I know this post is a year old, but couldn’t you just use nitric acid to dissolve all the base metals out being that rhodium doesn’t dissolve in nitric acid and then you would only be left with the rhodium plating as a sludge/foils (depending on thickness of plating) which you could then melt it down into a little bead? It wouldn’t be the purest rhodium around but it seems to me like that would be plausible depending on what the base metals are. I have zero experience refining pgms so I don’t know if this would or wouldn’t work, but it seems plausible to my inexperienced mind. I’ll just stick to my copper, silver and gold refining thank you. Pgms scare me.

      Dissolve in pure HCL 36% in 65C let the liqiud evaporate in room atmospher and presure. It will formed crystal material with is Rhodium soliuble oxide. Most of Fe will evaporate by material heating, rest will stay in your Rh powder (Brownish Orange colore is Fe hydate oxide and the black to dark grey is Rodium metal crystals powder) all percipitate need to be calcined from 100C to 890C step by step to loss most acetic carbon bonding by threting with heat. In this part the acetic gas will be start to evaporate and take next partl of the non PM in gase phase. When it will in be dark grey color and stop produce fumes wash it witch cold etanol 70%. At The end calcined it one more time in min 890C for few minutes. You have pure metal powder now 😁

      @marcinlangrzyk6412 Před 2 lety

      @@CARLOSCESPEDESbiocihealth it depends what alloy you have if it's alloy with oxidizing BM and there is only Ir from PGM's the simple way will be soaking in concentrated HCL, but in my opinion chances for that version are low. If you tell me whats the content of metals in alloy I will try to answer correctly for that question.

    I have watched this video three times and it has taught me that there is more waste than real product.
    Where is the end result? A real saleable end product with little by product?
    This is not scalable I process, a large investment with no return on any scale.
    I don’t want to hear about the science, science is not science unless there is a real benefit.

    • @djcbanks
      @djcbanks Před 2 lety +1

      It may not be scaleable but with rhodium trading at $13,000 a Troy ounce, seems to me like there is still money to be made. From what I understand there are more efficient ways of retrieving rhodium, but this ain’t it and those who know aren’t telling.
