  • Learning to front side axle stall is possibly one of the most frustrating things I've tried to do with skating so far (along side Rock n Rolls), if you've been following my channel for a while or you have been back and watched My older videos you'll know I've addressed this one before but I still don't have them down 100% in my regular bag of tricks, the only thing i can say is practice, practice, practice..... and then when you think you have it, practice some more Ha Ha !
    Does anyone else have the same problem or did they come to you super easy?
    Let me know in the comments below, and as ever thanks for watching, being interested and supporting my adventures.

      It’s really nice to skate, perfect height for trying new tricks and nice and wide for long grinds, so much fun ! 👊🏼

    I totally agree with you, skating with people who are above your level can really help on your progression. Not only about explaining the steps to help you land but also to push yourself further.
    Well done Neil!

      Thanks dude, very kind of you to say. I think my skating had improved a lot because of my friends I skate with, they are all awesome and seeing them makes me want to do more 👊🏼

    They’re so good when you get them Neil, I understand the frustration though not being able to do it everyday until it locks in. The worst is when you feel like your starting afresh each session but I always tell myself it just takes a little longer to get them on lock. Happens eventually though.

      Cheers mate, yeah I know what you mean it’s just super frustrating when it literally takes years 🤣 maybe some day 🤞🏻

    Bro, FS is a tough one. You gotta keep at them even after you land a few. Very true about skating with mates and mates who are better than you at skating.

      Yeah trust me I know it’s been a couple of years and I still don’t have them on lock 🤣 👍🏻

    Yewwww congrats Neil! Frontside stalls are friggin scary to commit back in to. I would say front 50s are a nemesis of mine too. I just dont go for them often enough to build the comfort. Never did them on a 4 ft ramp yet either, only 3 ft. Yeah skating with people better than you is like a hack to skateboarding haha

      Thanks 👊🏼 if I stop doing them for any short time I lose them it’s so funny, then I have to work the whole session to get them back. Maybe eventually they’ll be more natural I just have to remember to keep doing them every session. I haven’t tried them on anything bigger yet but like with my last video I’m sure it’s going to feel like learning them all over again 🤣

      @@NeilHesterSkateboarding haha yeah that’s how they feel for me too. I find getting into it from fakie seems to be easier for me actually. Have you ever tried that?

    • @NeilHesterSkateboarding
      @NeilHesterSkateboarding  Před 3 lety

      @@XSProgression That's exactly how I learned, So i was very used to coming back in FS long before I learned to get into them going forwards.

    BS 5050 - ramp is in front to fall into so I have no problem with them. FS 5050 feels like a leap of faith backwards into the ramp which my brain will not let me do. BS rock n rolls no problem, rock fakie my brain will not let me do! I could do them when I was younger!

    • @NeilHesterSkateboarding
      @NeilHesterSkateboarding  Před 3 lety

      I know what you mean it really does feel like a leap of faith, I think i just practiced a lot of FS kick turns and slash grinds first and then learned fakie bs axle stalls , this put me into the position of having to fs drop in again so at that point I just went for it. Of course there were some slams but you have to do a few to know what it’s supposed to feel like and then you can adjust yourself to land properly. I’d say the biggest help was realising I needed to give a little hop into the ramp as I pivoted out which avoided the dreaded hang up because I don’t have the confidence to lean back enough to miss the coping totally like I do with a BS 5050 and that works out great. Rick fakies you just have to do it there’s no half way, but then they just stick.

    I love the progression ! I would say try to avoid putting your weight on your toes when you are coming onto the rail.. and approaching the rail at an angle might help
