To me the most mind boggling part of 80s yngwie was the precision while doing all the stage antics. It's like his guitar truly was just an extension of his body.
The #1 Master shredder. His guitar playing is so fast and prefect. It is perfection. Ear candy.
Despite his detractors, Yngwie is the king. He's a game changer like Hendrix and EVH before him.

Yngwie Malmsteen is one of the greatest and most technically skilled guitarist of all times. He is a monster. Even guitarist like Joe Satriani told in many interviews that, Yngwie's guitar playing gave him chills and wonders sometimes while touring together. Because the knowledge Yngwie has on classical music is really crazy! Very few guitarists can do that kind of stuffs other than Jason Becker. Yngwie's influences are all over in Jason's music, although what he presented are also so difficult and complex as well like Yngwie's.
The duelling solos between Yngwie and Jens is so epic, akin to watching Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris going toe to toe! 🎸🎹🔥🔥🔥
Back in the 80s when Malmsteen first made an impression on me and my fellow metalheads, we always said that if Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, etc were alive, THIS is what they’d be writing! 🔥🎸

That Bach ”tune” played with organ, sonata in D-minor ? (D-minor I’m sure of!) That piece is really heavy& would concidered beeing Metal today, for sure! 🤘🤘

YNGWIE is an ungodly, groundbreaking player! I had the privelege of first seeing this master in the early 80's at the famous L'Amour rock club in Brooklyn, NY. Every jaw in that place dropped! Yngwie must have been around 21 back then.

Actually the first part is Paganini - Violin Concerto No 4. Second part is Adagio in G minor (but not played in G minor)

his name is pronounced Yngwie (Ingvay) a Swedish guitarist who began his career with Steeler and Alcatrazz in 83 and 84, in 85 formed Rising Force and the rest is history. Known for his neoclassical style rock with the influence of Niccolò Paganini , and Johann Sebastian Bach.

@Patridge Yeah, that would be more like the original Swedish spelling of his name which is Yngve Malmsten (i am Swedish), it seems like the international version of the spelling which he has used through his career is pronounced more like Ingvay though.
I've seen him live quite a few times and you really have to see him to believe it. Get close as you can.

And it all comes from Yngwie hearing Van Halen 1. He said how much he LOVED the whole band & how they played like they didn't give a fuck, just get on stage & go for broke every time!! He said if he ever made it big, he'd make sure his band took the stage with that kind of attitude, EVERY NIGHT!! Ergo, playing the keys while lying on the floor, playing Ring Around the Keyboards & all the other stuff they do onstage. Yngwie is a man of his word, he did EXACTLY what he said he'd do, go on stage with that Van Halen, I don't give a fuck 'tude & rock the living HELL out of the crowd.!!

His 1st album Rising Force, incl this track, actually has a picture of Jimmi Hendrix guitar, which was released in 1984. Yngwie was 24yrs old. And had just bought Hendrix guitar in '83

The 90s musicians weren't even close. But it was time for change, you couldn't play better or more complicated than some of this....it had to go slower....this guy is a master.
If you're talking about the flannel brigade, fine, but Angra and Rhapsody of Fire picked up where Yngwie left off.
Playing like that alone in your bedroom is one thing - there are thousands than can do it - but playing it perfectly night after night in front of a crowd is exceptionally impressive. wow.

I wish Yngwie would stick closer to the original studio compositions when performing live, they're so beautiful, especially this one.
I understand that completely but playing the same way day after day year after year gets old fast. Plus like any other guitar player from time to time you lose your spot and have to improvise, it helps keeping things fresh.

That’s what most people go to see, a demonstration of his skills. Me personally, if I want to hear the album I’ll play it but every time I’ve seen him live pushes the envelope and that’s what I hope to see. To each their own I guess.🍻

probably one of the coolest shows I ever saw was this tour at the budokan in tokyo...88?..it sounded terrible,...but you could tell they were doing the things....he did circles around his keyboard while he was having solo battles with yngwie...I loved this line up ...the old school craziness!!!
