Just when i wanted to post that i'm a bit disappointed that you didn't mention him.
He got destroyed by this open source piece of goodness
I should make a gridfinity duck holder
Oh, my duck. -Dankpods
Do it
Put them all in a row
They'll come for the Zack and stay for the Quack
We’ll call me a mother ducker do it
The gridfinity system is the most fun I've had with 3d printing in years. I've been building new caddies around my specific tools, and downloading other community creations. Thank you for making your original designs open source for everyone to enjoy.
Awesome! Share your custom stuff, and you'll be astonished how many other people are interested.
Same here. Can't wait to finish printing everything I need to organize my printing stuff before someone comes up with a newer organizing system and I start all over again!
@@ZackFreedman No joke it's seriously helping me get back into my hobbies. When my ADHD brain can't find the tool it's looking for because it's misplaced at the bottom of a pile I just lose all motivation to keep tinkering. Having a custom dedicated home for everything makes life so much easier.
I'm in awe of how we can share ideas and create custom items. I can't wait to get a 3D printer. One day eventually, hopefully I'm going to buy a cheap & used Ender and just put a few dollars into upgrade parts and make it my own. I build, repair, and customize all sorts of MilSim guns. That carbon fiber nylon is calling out to me lol. There's so much I can do with that machine.
I ♥️ Gridfinity. Suggestion: agree on a standard corner magnet size & position, so that magnets can be added and will align across different designers modules.
and maybe add some standards for an electronic version
Compliant mechanisms might be something to look into. Takes away the need to source magnets
FYI if you give vase mode drawers and containers a texture, they won't warp. It's kind of amazing how little is needed to strengthen them
you can avoid that waviness in the trash can with a hex pattern at 1mm depth. ideamaker texture if you're too lazy to model it again
isogrid moment
I might design a Gridfinity USB-PD power brick to go in that portable soldering station with my Pinecil!
Go for it!
Maybe try using a ip5328 chip for the powerbank, it has pd
@@grindfi I'm looking at circuit boards that are already built right now because I want this project to be accessible for more people. Problem is, I can't find anything that can supply 20 volt PD, so I think I'm going to have to use a BMS and voltage converter to run a board from a car charger off of a 18650 pack.
If you do, I'll design a Gridfinity fire extinguisher.
@@ZackFreedman 12x12x2048 block with an actual fire extinguisher inside
Dude you are the best combination of organized and chaotic. I swear your fast paced videos scratch all the right parts of my brainy brain.
Btw It felt like a crossover episode when you mentioned Botgrinder (also glad he’s a patreon)
Botgrinder (if that even is his real name) has been a super generous Patron since the beginning. We were planning a crossover after Murica got the rona under control, but I moved out of the East Coast before it could happen. Maybe in the future...
If you see an accountant with a messy desk - avoid them. If you see an engineer with a messy lab - become great friends!
This video gained him another sub, I loved all those instant refferences to what every sounded similar. My head works the same and lost it at the Imposter imposes imposting bit. Edit: Hahaha amazing the Demon Core reference
Seeing how this storage system has grown is a gorram delight!
I've been keeping an eye out for a system that's standardized, and versatile. And I think this is it!
Do it.
Grab the files that catch your eye and just start printing. Everything I have made, Zack’s or community, has been well designed.
wow, a fellow firefly enthusiast
the Browncoats could've won with better logistics. Gridfinity could've saved lives
I can’t wait until I’m home to print all of these. I love this idea. I’ve been looking for a way to organize my bench.
I've been grinding out prints for quite a few days. Good thing I got the Revo so I could put the 0.8 in there to cut the times down.
You reference to the second Demon core incident was amazing! Maybe it isn't the best idea to lower your neutron reflector with a screwdriver you are holding. RIP Slotin
Sad that you beat me to this, but equally delighted that someone else spotted the reference! For those who missed it it's at 10:04
well that does it...
lmaooo I noticed it too!! glad there were others haha. Such an interesting part of history.
I adore the gridfinity system. I'm a total novice and only have a whittle itty bitty Ender 2Pro, but I can just barely eek out some 4x4 pieces and plates if I print them on the diagonal. However, these new models are just making me itchy for a larger print bed.
Thanks gridfinity. You're saving me dozens of dollars on storage and organization and will cost me hundreds of dollars in new printers.
Welcome to the wonderful world of 3d printing. 😂 I’ve printed more parts for my 3d printer and accessories than I have for actual projects.
A 0.8mm nozzle and vasemode is the way to go, especially if you set your line width to 0.9mm or 1mm.
...and a CHT nozzle. THE FILAMENT MUST FLOW!!!
For jumper wires: affix some small neodymium magnets in a circle to some kind of tray, I use a magnetic parts tray. Then connect the two ends of each jumper to two adjacent magnets. You just need the same number of magnets as number of colours. Of course your jumper wires need to be magnetic - mine are.
It keeps the curve in the wire which is usually the same shape it's used in, it's very easy to remove and replace jumpers in the right spot (just dangle the ends close to the right magnets), It's small and compact, and it's aesthetically satisfying -- it's like a rainbow jumper wire flower on your desk.
I appreciate that you simultaneously bring praise and honest critique to the models you featured today.
12:00 now put those bottles a few magnets at their bottom and stick them to the walls, so you don't make a mess hanging things vertically. Take that gravity!
Printed the bin, bin holder, 7x7 grid, usb holder, caliper holder, and snippers holder so far. I used a glossifier coating on my bin to give myself the illusion of higher structural integrity. It is the largest single print I've printed so far. Thanks for the great content!
Pro tip for anyone designing any subdivided storage vessel that ends up going vertical, use drawers in each layer. Disassembling a whole stack just to get to one compartment is a bit smooth brained, even modular storage system manufacturers figured this out awhile ago.
I appreciate the low brow humor delivered in a high class way. Pushing polypropylene ftw
I got into 3d printing to make custom router templates for building guitars, but now I want to Gridfinitize everything!! The timing is perfect because this fall I plan to re-configure my woodworking space in the garage. I can't wait to be a part of this community.
I dont have the skills for it, but someone should make a gridfinity mountable mechanical keyboard chassis it would be really funny I think
You just wait
at that point, lets make a gridfinity covered desk! gridfinity compatible workplate, gridfinity cuttingmat, gridfinity mousepad, gridfinity lamp gridfinity power strip gridfinity bench power supply gridfinity instant ramen bowl gridfinity coffee cup
gridfinity all the things

@@___echo___ gridfinity model kit hobby workshop with airbrish booth implement.
I vote this to be the "pitching ideas" comment. Here's mine: I'd want to see a gridfinity vertical laptop holder, preferably with some sort of charger hanger too.
I WILL buy a 3D printer and I WILL make cool gridfinity components for my art supplies. This is a threat.
That idea came into my mind after you've shown the bottles. They will be perfrct for ink. Throw some holders for the pens and some holders for all the different nibs I use for my ink pens. I can already see it in my head, it's gonna be fun.
I'm aware there's some extra requirements and playing around if I want to reliably hold liquids in these bottles, but it's worth a shot. I can always just make a base for the ink brand I use and have the normal bottle on there.
Zack you 100% deserve this video... thanks for the open source 3d printable stuff. You're a legend and you inspired the community
love your enthusiasm, creativity, and word play. a cunning linguist by any definition.
One of the most useful prints I've come across to date well done 😊
The magnetic wall mounts are great for a wrench organizer that sticks to the underside of your locking tool cart lid (becomes the back wall when opened).
how bout a grid-finity roomba (minus the vacuum, or not I don't care) assistant that follows you around to make sure you have everything you need at all times?
You might have finally found a good use for Amazon Astro.
Great stuff. This community is outstanding! Love the commentary as usual, worth the work. Thanks for sharing!
Iv been looking for an organisational system to print for my maker area for ages with no luck and I found your Gridfinity video yesterday and its just what I was looking for Im now so impressed I might Gridfinity my kitchen and home brewing set up too
As much as I love 3D Printing, it would be cool if you could collaborate on some ones using alternative materials with other creators like Adam Savage, Robert Dunn, or Peter Brown. You could also see if Jeff Geerling is up for seeing how useful the Gridfinity system is with homelabbing!
Heh, I don't think I'm THAT cool yet. Maybe in a few hundred thousand subscribers...
@@ZackFreedman Maybe in regards to Adam, but the rest are around the same subscriber count as you.
I don't think they'd want to work with someone using your mother jokes after 2 years of us losing loved ones.
I know I certainly wouldn't. Also Shay do you mean alternative materials? Adam Savage does 3d printing as well... And he isn't a creator he is an actual props designer and presenter that has a CZcams channel.
... Do ... Do you think Manchester United Football Club are a creator because they have a large sub base and their videos easily get 10m views? Bless... All trees are green but not all green things are trees.
Also I think Adam would only work with adults. Try that kid that made the racist Elmo ... He seems about Zacks level. He too has done fuck all in his industry and uses edgy humour to make up for gaps in knowledge and ability!
ive lost my mother 3 years ago .... the your mom jokes are still funny . can't imagine being this type of person (the razer guy)
@@razerow3391 I found your comment a bit… antagonistic. Then I went and looked at your comment history. You’re a dick.
I love your style. Fast paced, witty, saucy, clever, informative and fun. Subscribed. Love your work. 🇦🇺
might have found my new favourite kind of video. this is like xmas, thx for putting all the work into this
I have loved gridfinity from the premier episode but haven't brought myself to print any... YET!
The first video I´m watch from you now. This is so cool, I subscrib so I´m ready for more. This system is so satisfying, I will print everything when i got a new printer that works
Don't care for meeting celebs. But this. You. Something far more worth celebrating. Just in case no one has informed you. If I see you in public I'll stay calm, but I'll ask for a pic with me. Smart people are the real celebs in my book. Especially the ones who take time to share and help us all. You're a good human. A guide. We love and truly appreciate your efforts and your time. 🤘🕯️🕯️🕯️
Glad to see more gridfinity models! Seems like the community is going ham with them! Nice work Zack!
The subtle tabs you have open in your browser are pretty funny. Nice touch.
I love the death core reference with the screwdriver. Thank you for that
Clearly we need a mega mega gridfinity box for all your mega gridfinity storage needs (for all your gridfinity storage needs).
Picked up that Beagle Cam. Thanks for the tip!
i got to say your vidz bring a smile to my face man. Thanks for showing us more awsome prints!
Ooo I really like that toolbox system for army containers for my tabletop war games
This is awesome! I especially love the modular toolbox, gotta get one (or like, five) of those at some point
The writing for this episode was spot on, non-stop comedy gold! 🤣
Love the Dremel toolbox organizer~! Thanks for this video~!!
Vase mode boxes look awesome. Throw on a larger nozzle (0.6? 0.8?) and they're likely to be much more durable.
I gotta say Zack, your enthusiasm is infectious!
That demon core reference was great.
ikr
Thanks Zack for keeping the internet weird and wonderful.
I calculate now everything in Gridfinity units. Game changer Zach.
I'm testing now what prints would do best for my Kallax regal and tons of materials that are in some shoe boxes... yes, I said shoe boxes
Gridfinity is grid-tastic. The creativity of this group is awesome.
Man! If you are also 100% the writer for your channel, that's just unfair, the comical talent. It's hilariously brilliant!!
Absolutely love your work, keep it going bud.
I don't always watch your videos, but when I do I'm left with a huge smile. Thank you.
😮 my new favorite channel! I’ve yet to see so much usefulness with so much dry humor in a single person or place. 😅
I just may have to binge the channel!
I got that Dremil tool box and was planing to shove some base plates into it, looks like the work is already done.
Printer you got some more work to do!!!
This was absolutely (chef's kiss) puntastic!
Plugging a product so well with a diver sound is pure art.
The tool box design is awesome, I may have to print one for all of my junk.
Even if I’m not working on an electronics project I watch these videos just for zack’s script writing and jokes
The toolbox is insane, will definitely print once ready
Poseidons kiss at 2:28 blows me every time.
Someone with a CNC should cut out that giant base plate!
@Zach nice phoropter shirt! Also, sweet storage solution!
Yes. Please more Gridfinity videos!
another gr8 video Zack!
If I don't find one I was planning on making a wall board with pegs sticking out, now I know I should also make it to the gridfinity standard. This would actually make the wall plate useful and practical.
Thanks for the mention of the "galactic brain kid" and I, even if it was for a sight gag :) I had often wondered if anyone actually committed the 32 hours and a lot of filament to print one!
I’m so glad this is all open source because someone WOULD make a FORTUNE off of how awesome this is
It would be less awesome if it wasn’t Open Source though because it wouldn’t have all these community made adapters/tools, and it would be far less accessible.
nice demon core reference
I could see some amazing Chainmaille storage out of that stuffs. (I have a "hobby in a box for it which I love) but if that carrier one gets tuned a bit more I may find myself making one
I love your videos. Keep up the amazing work!
This channel is my escapism from this cruel dark world.
Thanks Zack.
I love this community.
That was by far the most relevant, interesting and entertaining sponsor ad I've ever seen.
I’d love to use that tool box as a lunch box !
Now I'm wondering how we went this long without Gridfinity Bento
@@ZackFreedman Too obvious, as in "That's so obvious, no wonder no one thought of it yet." Because of course that's how things really are in retrospect.
Zack! Can you please make a video about what kind/size of screws, bearings, magnets, etc are most useful or easy to use in 3d printing projects? I would love to use these gridfinity boxes but I don't know what I would put in it!
Custom organization is one of the reasons I'm finally getting a printer found this just in time
The cadquery gridfinity modules are my favorite
this would be fire for someone with a working 3d printer. this carcass of an ender pro 3 never worked and i've had it 2 years lmao
So get it working
Feel free to drop into the #3d-printing channel on our Discord. I'm sure someone has already fixed your same issue on the same printer.
@@ZackFreedman the issue is that idk what the issue is, I've already watched basically every tutorial ever but it seems un-fixable :( but I'll try again in the discord
Oh I might have to use this system for my toolbox.
Love these so much! 🤩
Seriously, I've been looking around for some desk top storage that I know doesn't exist. Just stumbled on your Gridfinity, and it may just be what I was looking for!
Fractal gridfinity to the limits of your manufacturing ability
Look at youuuu! Nice one 🎉
I honestly just love your content. Reduces my depression level whenever I see you've uploaded.
You are a genius. I love it.
I’ve been trying to make some gridfinity parts. I have only succeeded with the ifixit 54 set. But I’m just not talented enough to do this stuff. Thanks for the Dremel set I had not found that.
Keep at it - this is a great first modeling project because you get to work off an existing design.
I find it delightful that the youtube ID for this video contains the word "TRAY". It's only tangentially related, but still mildly interesting.
You rock. 🤘Thank you for sharing the light. 🕯️🕯️🕯️🌹⚔️
very cool gadgets big thanks👍👍
LOL!!! You caliper-cradling nozzle-dock! You lost me in the first 5 seconds i was laughing so hard. love the videos, man.
You can use a bigger nozzle for three vase mode stuff
Bloody love the setup too haha 🎉
Dang!!! So many things! Nice projects ;)
ive been using gridfinity for my herpetology equipment, similar to the gridfinity toolbox conversion
Regarding Gridfinity for a specific assortment like that Dremel box set, the 1 year old Quinn Master Technician 428pc tool set has no trays or organizers. It’s meant to go into a tool chest with your own socket trays, pick-apart foam, wrench organizers, etc. For 428 pieces, all that adds up QUICK and you’ll still have less than acceptable results if you sprint for the $1ea 15 position socket rails. It’s a lot for one person so it would be awesome to touch base people who have the same set!
Always enjoy!

"Why are you looking out from behind the camera? Why are you blinking slowly at me?!"
You know damned well why, Zack. I get the same response from those levels of puns. Or I just get sprayed with water
this looks sick
