- Cool little Oahu tube guitar amp. Came to the shop, no sound, volume pot seized.
A very simple circuit. Easy to repair.
At first, I thought this would be a Hot chassis unit (no power transformer) However it was there hidden behind the chassis.
Filter capacitor was replaced with new technology 3 in 1 cap board.
Reduced cost & nice solution to the hard to find 1" dia filter cap.
Very well engineered, dropped right in.
These can be obtained thru: sledseats.com
The owner is a fellow Ham operator. Nice product. I will be using them in the shop.
From Scott:
Thank you Terry, I saw that. I am very grateful for being granted such a privilege.

That Multi-Cap board is slicker than snake snot! Love it!
That multi-cap component replacement is genius! It solves so many issues with trying to find a can type that retro fits the original mounting, as well as allowing trouble-free maintenance for future repair(s). The legendary Oahu lives again. Well done as always, Terry. Enjoy the remainder of the weekend.
Another great video Terry. I missed seeing Shnozeramus when you removed the old filter cap.
The three in one is neat, instead of leaving the old cap can and replacing new caps underneath 👍👌✌️🎸
She's seen better days....haven't we all? Well, a lot of us anyway. Nice clean fix, love the filter cap holder--thanks for sharing!
I met Scott at a hamfest last weekend. His cap replacement product is an elegant solution. His component replacement kits are also top notch.
Yes, He is a very intelligent fellow. I believe he is on the right track with this offering. I plan to support his efforts
Look up Speaker Workshop in Fort Wayne, Indiana. They do a great job fixing old speakers like what you have there. I've seen and heard his work myself.
Another great video Terry. Ingenious fix for the can capacitor (many of us solder in axial or radial caps in replacement nowadays, but this is a neater solution. Was watching some of your Fender repair videos as well and was interested in your talks about past Air Force QA experience. The anecdotal stories give good experience to the viewers.
Oh that cap board would have been soooo good to have when I repaired my Italian Sound 25 RT amp. Good to know that radial caps are ok to use, wasn’t really sure (I am just a newbie) if it is important to use axial for any reason. Great video thanks
Love when you do the amp repairs Terry, that's where I started following your excellent channel a few years ago now..Still learning..Thanks for sharing..Ed..uk..😃
The sound is like a brand new Champ! The cabinet is really well made, good job , a simple but essential little amp. When I pass a recycling centre I look for those oval speakers from 50s /60s/70s radios and TVs. Just carry a set of plyers and a screwdriver with you when you go "Scuzzing-round".
Nice fix. Also could have used terminal strips.
Hey, Im in the Uk, i built an amp Standel 25L15 years ago, but now got problems, its the transformer 350-350, etc..... But its the 6.3V with a Center Tap and its a dead short to ground, unground Center Tap, no short to both 6.3v wires. Many thanks Richard
These might be better than the Adapt -A-Cap boards. Will have to look into these! That rare vintage amp is worth $$$!
And now it is working and safe to use. Great job Terry.
I designed one of those multicap boards to allow for 4 capacitors and had oval holes that the tabs you cut off the can cap can be soldered directly onto the new board.
the midnight rider loop!
Dang ,,,,, that sounds good...
nice work
You can find plenty oval speakers on reverb, won’t be exact model but similar vintage
Cool amp
Very impressive.
Sounds great, Terry...
...though I wonder if that rather delicate lookin' 6x9 could handle 5 watts
...for 5 minutes (much less 60 odd years)
Thanx
Maravilha 🎉
It seemed to me to still have a lot of hum at low levels. Is that normal for that amp design?
Hi Terry. Would you please provide some more information about the replacement potentiometer with the switch? You mentioned it was an 500k audio taper Alpha pot but I like to know the model number and where to purchase them. Thank you.

Hello terry can you tell me please changing from cathode bias to fixed bias does it change the anode impedance ?
Building a Marshall JMT45 using RCA 807 tubes which I feel is better than Chinese EL34's for quality and just to see how it sounds vs EL34's
Who made that amp?
