@@tbird475tjk4 Your tank has to breathe. In order to breathe, your tank must have a vent somewhere that will relieve both vacuum and pressure. Gasoline expands in volume as it warms up and shrinks in volume as it cools down. The fuel level of your tank changes throughout the day, even if you are not driving it.
Aww yeah, I was always worried with my KTM RC8R that I'd start a fire. Every time I had just filled up, right to the top, and I'd do a hard pull or worse a wheelie, fuel would slosh and leak out the fuel cap. I fixed it no problem by throwing a random O-ring from a variety pack in there for a better seal, works great now and cause it wasn't leaking from the hinged part of the cap, it still functions like OEM.
Vapour lock is usually more fuel to carb related. This is what happens when you don't have a breather and you drastically change altitude or the fuel in the tank is getting hot
@@nolanfrank582 it's probably more decreasing altitude that makes it build up the pressure I think. But even without altitude changes it could be temperature related. Fuel gives off more and more fumes the warmer it gets and if those fumes can't escape it builds up pressure. Could even be coupled with a fuel injection system which returns unused fuel back to the tank
@@nolanfrank582 is right it’s typically one of the 2 that causes it to happen. Bad ventilation is what does it to the still brand typically because sucks the air out of the gas thank and than causes a vacuum. If you turn it off while it has the vacuum it typically won’t start because it’s staving for air then. And then when you’re not expecting it and finally pop the gas cap off for the first time it’s ole faithful if you don’t take your time 😂
@@mysterycomment1553 well technically fuel can ignite if the liquid is heated up enough but an exhaust is definitely not hot enough and yes this was already tested and proven
It's recommended you don't use your cell phone outside when you are at a gas station pump. Meanwhile this guy thinks, I better film this! Just a little static is all you need.
I sit there and I was watching it and it kept repeating itself and I wanted to know why he was doing it over and over and over and I realized I was just High
This is what happens when you fill up at a lower elevation. Obviously this is pretty drastic so they must have filled up at sea level before heading up to the mountains
That's why I leave my cap off for at least 2 minutes. Let some of the vapors out before capping my tank. I had this happen once and it scares the shit out of me. I thought my bike was about to explode.
iv never seen that happened before glad I have a grampa that's a mechanic, he would of never let something like that happen anyways good video! God bless
It's faked. There's no way a tank would hold that much pressure and even if it did the pressure would be above the fuel and wouldn't blow it out like that. It's either cgi or a garden hose put in through a whole in the tank. If a real tank had that kind of pressure it would be permanently deformed (hydroforming) and I doubt the key would operate that easily due to the pressure in the latch mechanism.
Tank full of fuel... the fuel tank color is black and absorb sunlight got heatup.. because of heat fuel vaporise and pressure been built inside the fuel tank.. when the lid opened all the pressure buid inside came out!! Cheers..
@@jacobbell5949 it's not fake at all, motorcycle is a 790 adv and has a plastic tank that is literally tough enough that its used in place of crash bars and KTM fucked up and made a fuel cap that doesn't vent well
I had bit the same with my gsx600f project bike. The vent hole from the tank was blocked with moss. The motorcycle stood still outside for years and in the summer in full sun when i thoughts to go work on it, i opened. It was a bit like that. Only the tank was almost empty so, luckily it was far from this situation. But i did need a douche after that haha. My 890r did that to me and I took it in and they did something I think there wasn't a hole in the pressure bleed off under the cap or a pinched hose . Either way it wasn't a fun experience when I got sprayed in the eyes and my phone got soaked. I guess that's what you get with a KTM lol . Also if you have the shinko 805 tires from the factory there is a recall in north America

When your vent line is clogged or removed....
It happens if you do full tank at 10°C in morning and then you start to ride at 40°C post noon. Gas expands
