- Battle Chess is a computer game version of chess with animated three-dimensional graphics. It was originally developed and released by Interplay Entertainment for the Amiga in 1988 and subsequently on many other systems, including 3DO Interactive Multiplayer, Acorn Archimedes, Amiga CD32, Amiga CDTV, Apple IIGS, Apple IIe, Atari ST, Commodore 64, MS-DOS, FM Towns, NES, MacOS, NEC PC-9801, X68000 and Microsoft Windows. In 1991, Battle Chess Enhanced was released by Interplay for the PC and Macintosh featuring improved VGA graphics and a symphonic musical score that played from the CD-ROM.
Also, music was composed by Scott LaRocca. Very beautiful stuff that I enjoy still today.
This was a wonderfully played game. Thanks for sharing with us.
While we are on the topic of Interplay Battle Chess, my advice is, if you want the original actual challenge that the 1988 and 1991/2/3 versions provided, do *_not_* purchase the Steam revival of the 1991/2/3 version. I think they dumbed down the levels (in the Steam revival), thereby making it a whole lot easier to win.
The original Battle Chess 1991 was so &*dsd&6rx#$@ hard to ^&$%Sr8&^%2 beat; at least as young one back in the days. But, it taught me (and others) so much about chess when it was difficult like that.
This is the better version. Faster and with superior graphics.

Good game. Is it possible to still play this game on today's computers
