  • If you have a pet with lots of hair/fur in the ears, then this video is for you! There has been a lot of controversy on whether the fur should be plucked or not. Does this cause or prevent ear infections?
Watch as Carrie shares her story from when she was a Vet Tech and new to grooming. She explains how the veterinarian she worked for at that time insisted that ALL dogs have no hair/fur in the ears and must be pristine. He used this during vet visits to gain new grooming clients.
Fast forward a few years when Carrie Hyde opened The Spaw where she tested this. Did the dogs get ear infections from not plucking? Find out by watching!

I have a Barbet and I’ve concluded that the hair in a water dogs ears prevents water getting into the ear as well as fox tails, which is the biggest problem in my area. I do dry out my water dog’s after she goes swimming.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!
This is my belief, mom of miniature schnauzers all natural ears. My vet pulled all the hair from.one of my dogs ears and she was traumatized after that and she wouldn't let me near the ears for a long time. I gently pull with my fingers or cut with small scissors ✂️ NEVER AGAIN will I let them do that!!

I am sure you must have seen the stuff that can build up in a standard poodles ears! I have pulled out a mouse sized glob. (With great difficulty). The cleaner the better imho. You have to knee up with the hair every week.

Thank you! Great video. Very helpful. I have a soft coated wheaten and she has a very solidified waxing build up of hair in one of her ears. She won't let anyone touch it. Should I clean it with solution and then try to get it out gently, or should I leave it alone. She never gets ear infections and she's 10yrs old. I just don't want her to start getting ear infections and the greasy hair chunk in her ear doesn't look good. Not sure what to do with it.
