i never used the alt mine, the mobility that the default one provides is just insane
as a half rail gunner main it feels like playing captain when you lose mines
The alt mine ain't even that good, it's a way worse engi shield and engi shield is so bad too.
Using the m1 as a fill in for the missing feather at mithrix was really impressive

RoR2 players must have some kind of crippling fear of compound words and terms. "Vrit", "Vands", "Veilds", "Runner", "Wungus"
I get it when similar items have similar names, like crit glasses vs. void glasses, but then they do it for stuff that doesn't even make sense like saying ruckler instead of rose buckler. Like just say buckler :( Runner is confusing too, why not just say gunner?

Railgunner’s scope zoom level with the secondary m2 is so much more user friendly than the primary. The primary M2 gives me a headache with how often you zoom in and out lol.
That said the slowing mines are akin to taking bubble shield over harpoons. It’s just objectively worse in every single way imaginable
maybe it's a skill issue for me but even with the secondary m2 the scope zoom still feels so awful, it severely limits your awareness and is genuinely terrible for trying to shoot close up enemies. again this could be straight copium but to me it feels like so many aspects of railgunner have terrible synergy with ror2 gameplay
as for the slowing mines i feel like an interesting change would be to instead swap the effect to a miniature version of the black hole item that affects everything, including projectiles&player. could offer interesting mobility options while still retaining highly useful utility in enemy suppression
imo it sucks how downright clunky most of railgunner's kit is, by far has been my least favorite surivvor to play
I find quick scoping with railgunner satisfying, the m2 makes him one of my favs to play
yeah taking alt mines is like taking a chronobauble over actual speed imo
I just need a "not zoom in at all" M2 rifle and I'm good to go :9
If I wanna play default m2 & special I play with a nerf mod to make it not one shoting everything early game (down to 800% m2 & 3k special)
@@chriss4855 Random side note that very likely won't be applicable to your exact scenario, but the VR mod puts Railgunner's scope on the gun itself. As someone who usually gets sick when playing Railgunner Vanilla, but doesn't have issue with VR games, it's a god send because it lets me enjoy the character.

The editing in this video was really nice. I liked the holy choir when the scrapper was finally found, as well as the little pop-up to explain what "hosting" was.
this was the most beautifully played mithrix fight I think I've ever seen. Just awesome top form with great planning/execution of every maneuver. So sick

I just finished unlocking every item/ability and am starting to win on Monsoon, still struggle, especially time management and what/when to scrap and print.

i really like the idea of backup mags giving alt m2 more projectiles, maybe if it had a cooldown and you could charge it up whilst not shooting and then release it like a shotgun blast could be fun
A scrapper and mocha printer is all you could've asked for on Stage 5. I've never seen a railgunner fly like that

Huge respect to Race for taking the self nerf and not using polar field during the mithrix fight. Just too strong 💪
I had a day where I felt like mixing it up, played exclusively with what I though were the worst loadouts on each character. Honestly I was pleasantly surprised by polar field, it's actually pretty good the main problem is that it takes away your main form of mobility as a sniper. If you had some other reliable movement option it would genuinely be a consideration I feel
That Umbral Mithrix fight was the coolest thing I've ever seen

I am open to using literally any skill, ability, and passive. I kinda find it entertaining with the alt m2 for railgunner just going rapid fire carbine, but it also requires a lot of focus and staying zoomed in to do. Which in this game, is not very smart. Regular m2 probably is viable just for the fact it forces you to zoom out and also actually does something with backup mags.
I like alt m2 because it scales better with attack speed, also my general rule of thumb is that default m2 goes better with cryocharge and alt goes better with supercharge.
The game actively trying to go for checkmate at 18:40 made me feel secondhand panic.
Seeing the thumbnail and thinking “oh god he’s gonna use the bad ones” was so much more potent knowing that I had just started my eclipse climb on the character
Although I prefer default M2, the alternate does actually benefit from attack speed increases which is pretty nice 😊 It makes Railrunner a little more of a proc survivor, and the scope also feels way better, except at long range. Ii makes Scythe and Instincts actually usable, although Scythe still sucks in Eclipse.

I swear whenever i get backup mags on railgunner with normal M2 because i just forget i have more shots and just reload everytime anyway
i like alt m2, the main reason being the fact that attack speed scaling messes with the reloads, so any temporary attack speed buffs can easily screw that up.
For the R, a big advantage to the cryo is that you can keep shooting arter using it, instead of having the recharge.
The default mobility bonus is just too good to pass up for the milk toast alternate.
Lastly, I quite enjoy picking up heresy primary on Railgunner. The reliable M2 means you dont have the issues with downtime many other charachters do, and also you can keep shooting the primary even ehile the R is recharging.
The timing window for the reload is the same as default as it is with attack speed, it just adds on an extra margin of error. If you reloaded after - for example - 1 sec with 0 attack speed you could still reload after 1 second with 30 attack speed items
Just yesterday I used spinel tonic build, 4 gestures, crowbars, war horns and anything that gave crit chance and some attack speed. Very fun
Backup mag gives you multiple shots per recharge on default railgun. Like 3 backup mags and you can delete anything on one scope-in
right but you lose out on the reload bonus on the first shot so there's less reward than expected with that which is why i dont like it that much
Still gives you some versatility. Lets you do something like obliterate a golem with the boosted shot and then use the next 2 on beetles or something@@RacesVideos

i think the alt m2 should make it so increased charges of the skill give it the ability to pierce, where each extra charge = an extra enemy that can be hit (1 backup mag = 2 enemies while 5 backup mags = 6 enemies)

Never got the hate for resonance disc, sure it's not useful for Mithrix but it's satisfying to see it blow up some random mobs.
Genuinely think frost relic is my favourite red for railgunner. The fov increase is so nice. Just watching this getting claustrophobic with his zoomed in you are while scoped.
Hard scoping with alt m2 kinda makes it worse I think.
I always thought a cool way to make the alt M2 better would be to have it give ramping damage for consecutive crits. (and if it didn’t have zoom)
The only reason I ever use alt m2 on Railgunner is how ridiculous it looks and how surprisingly good it could be if you stack attack speed.

Seriously, like backup mag should make the alt m2 take longer to fire, but fire in bursts instead. As in, say you have two mags, you fire three shots in quick succession, but it takes more time to fire those three shots. That way it actually does something, more burst damage instead of sustained dps.
I think 2 ways that could really help improve the Alternative Zoom shot
would be to have back up mags increase the damage of the shot (or more projectiles each 5 stacks of magazines)
AND
Because when your scoped, it shows targets through walls and terrain
Why not let it shoot THROUGH the terrain? Since it already doesnt do as much damage?

I actually played RoR2 years ago and just didn't like commando so much I stopped playing entirely, I decided to hop back in, suck it up and suffer for a bit to unlock the cool stuff, but the Railgunner was sitting there, and she looks at me, and I look at her, and she looks at me, and I look at heeer, love at first run
I finally beat my eclipse climb today, and yeah it's probably between engineer and captain for most difficult eclipse climb
I actually like polar field.
Y'know, seeing how just Railgunner's alt M2 and Shift makes her absolutely horrendous to use just tells me a lot about how they are factually correct loadouts that are just more effective than their counterparts (with the glaring exception of MUL-T's alt primaries (saw, nailgun and bar, the last one sucks after the nerf it got))
I swear they made enemies jump just for it to annoy me on Railgunner

Base M2 might have higher potential for more micro-skillful players, but alt M2 forces you to learn gamesense to really use it to its full effectiveness as you mentioned at the end, which can be seen as it being weaker but J consider it far more meaningful and interesting a skill to develop and use than reloading in the middle of a chaotic game

I use alternative M2 cus M1 mobility is just too fun and convenient to not build attack speed. The only situation I ever use default M2 is when i'm on multiplayer and there's like a captain or commando

"If I'm still learning stuff at 5000 hours then someone at 400 still has things to learn" is crazy. Dude, you're not even considering how information becomes more available with the passing of time. You didn't learn anything for 4000 of those hours because nobody else knew anything either, simple as that. When other people learned something, they shared it, that's how you learned it. I have only 250 hours and I bet I know about as much as someone with 10 times my playtime. How much time you spend on something does not directly indicate your learning ability, if anything, it just shows that you specifically are a slow learner if you still find new things at 5000 hours. You can spend 10 hours playing the game, and also 100 hours learning about it from outside sources, or you can spend 100 hours playing the game and trying to learn on your own, and then learn 10 times as much in 10 times less time. Playtime alone does not indicate player level, it only indicates how much time you spent on actual, your own runs. It's definitely necessary for practice, but it's 100% not the whole picture.

That Mythrix fight was fire
Hey race, will we ever see you picking up an euology once in a while to freshen up the loot pool and play with some lunars? They may be broken, but for most of them the main problem (rather than the brokenness itself) is how easily accessible they are through the bazaar - which wouldn't be a problem if you allowed yourself to only use lunars found in the wild. Some of them allow for very cool builds and it's a shame never seeing them in action!
