Ghost Recon Breakpoint | What It Did RIGHT

- Ghost Recon Breakpoint launched in 2019 with a very mixed reception. I've done my fair share of calling this game out on its glaring issues in the past but over the years and updates during its life cycle, it has made significant improvement from the game it once was 3 years ago. So in this video, I wanted to talk about the major positives Ghost Recon Breakpoint did right and where it even managed to improve on Ghost Recon Wildlands.

I like the fact the bodies actually stay and don’t disappear and you can actually hide them.
Yea bro.
I always thought this was neat but it takes like 10 years for Nomad to actually pick up a corpse so I usually dont bother
I just wish they had a body drag system like Far Cry does… this game carry is so sluggish that I usually just don’t bother and try to speed run my stealth because of it 😂
Im gonna be honest, I love this game. I have about 100 hours or so and since the day I started playing I really have been enjoying it. The reason I got it was from your review of the game after the update where ubisoft fix most of things. I think the game is beautiful just like you said. Its huge and really well designed. The sunsets and sunrises are incredible and doing missions at night to make the game immersive is extremely fun for me. The way the guns handle for me are really nice. With the right setup, one tapping enemies on the head while stealthfully finishing a mission is incredibely satisfaying. I managed to get some friends to play with by using the friend pass which I think is really smart as it allows infinite hours to play with friends who don't actually own the game. While I do think this game is really good, there are definitely flaws. The world does get boring when you've done most things. Not many people around the world like wildlands and overall the world feels dead. I tryed to take the dead world and make it interesting my walking through the nature and slowly making my way to a base. Overall this game for me is incredible and I would recommend it to others.
One thing i hear nobody talk about is how well this game is optimized compared to other Ubi games, no studders and a rock solid 80 fps with ultra graphics
It sucks that they have all those features but your quality control is piss poor. That's why no one talks about it.
Graphic optimisation doesn't mean much when you snipe a sentry and he's standing behind an invisible shipping container.
It does look worse than Wildlands, so makes sense
Breakpoint is an amazing stealth game. So many great enemy bases to infiltrate. I've spent hours playing it and loved it. I need to get back into it.
My brother got me into this game back in ‘21. We spent hundreds of hours playing this together, sadly he passed away on the 6th. I’ll never get to play this or wildlands with him but i can say that this game will always be special for me, even with its flaws. The memories i had playing this game with my brother i’ll have forever and thats enough to make it my favorite game in the franchise.
I'm very sorry for your loss
RIP
I tried with Breakpoint but I got bored in a massive and lifeless world with no dialogue and no music and what's the point in having cars when you hardly drive anywhere
Yeah I kinda warmed up to the game but no ghost recon game will ever compare to wildlands
Did we play the same game? I feel like all of you are just hating because the game was incomplete on launch. As of right now, the world looks and feels incredible, both the NPCs and enemies have voice lines, the music is very intense during combat. Yall are seriously complaining about having convenient travel instead of having to look around for a chopper like Wildlands? It's not a perfect game but I'm having a lot of fun and it's definitely nowhere as bad as people make it sound
@@prime5991 Agreed, I recently bought the game and I really enjoy it so far (30 hours played). Just put the difficulty levels on maximum, turn off gun levels, interface and navigation. It feels so much more interesting and challenging that way.
@@prime5991 recently played both breakpoint and wildlands and I gotta say wildlands is noticeably better
It’s a privately owned island in the middle of the Pacific, so it’s not going to be bustling with NPC’s like Wildlands. There are still civilian islanders, but in what way do they really affect core gameplay anyway? And your critique on cars… eh? You use cars to drive to mission locations - just like Wildlands. What was you expecting, to drive to Walmart? And there is soundtrack and dialogue within the game. I’m convinced you didn’t play the game, instead just dabbled for an hour, and because it looked so different from Wildlands, you didn’t really give it a try. I almost gave up on it at first because I didn’t think it would be anything special, but the more I played, the more I loved it.
Got this at 80% and it is sooooo goooood. Checking the reviews I was doubting it so much, specially because I wanted to move on from Wildlands to change things up a bit. Totally worth it, I turned all HUD elements off, because I love the hardcore aspect of this game, not having minimaps, not having markers and look in the map where a location is. Among many other things, such a good game, so fun.
I still playing it to date and mixed my gameplay with some of the mods like Spartan mod and authentic warfare...great game man...the world feels sometimes a little dead and enemies are not that smart and don't have sleep rotation schedule...when u got back playing Wildlands but it's a fun game
i got it because i thought i was getting wildlands, not disappointed
Like it or not breakpoint is the only “single player” realistic tactical sandbox type shooter right now and playing the game on realism mode was actually a great experience for me
Agree with you on most of it , the improvements were gunplay & animations , but the takedowns in wildlands ( though tied to a specific item : glove , costume …, were quicker & less Hollywood) !
Yeah, never cared for the flashy nature of the takedowns in breakpoint. In my opinion the best melee animations in a game goes to splinter cell blacklist, smooth deadly and quiet. The way they worked was great too, I took into consideration lethal vs non lethal, direction of approach, from cover ( over or from the side), and whether or not you were detected. It’s another UBI game, so they know who to call for good animations, hell I’d even take them directly ripping them from blacklist for the next game.
I always had trouble with stealth take downs in Wildlands. Quite often the takedown icon shows, you move to attack and it vanishes and the target turns round. Not good when you are on kill number 8 of "kill 20 Unidad snipers without being detected" of a daily challenge. I never seem to have that problem in Breakpoint.
@@cameronnovy3718 peak game
I do enjoy that you can apply mud or snow and dirt to blend in with the environmental camouflage
Breakpoint reminds me of metal gear 5 which has a big accessibility on gameplay and options which l really love.
It's better than MGS5 in that regard. MGS5 doesn't even have a difficulty option for fuck's sake, and it's laughably easy.
@@TheFirstCurse1 True 🔥☝️.
The motherland update did make the game better but still fell short
Aside from the plethora of multi headshot enemies yes, motherland was an improvement.
@Cameron Novy Yes, even killing the heavy gunners with rockets from attack helicopters requires two headshots yet an almost invisible drone can take one down with a single shot.🫡
I enjoyed/still am enjoying my time with breakpoint, the immersion mode removing gear level and such makes the game leagues better and way more enjoyable, makes it feel like an actual ghost recon game, for anyone who didn't play at launch, I implore you to at least give it a shot while playing with immersion on
I do like the injury system. I think a whole hunger and hydration system is a bit overkill for this sort of game imo, but the injury system makes fights and combat more dynamic, and provides further incentive to play tactically.
I really love breakpoint uderrated, i remember watching when you had about 800 subs, i still love u!
Breakpoint is my fav tactical shooter on console. The reason i dont like Wildlands is because it is less "tactical" than Breakpoint imo
As a huge mgsv fan this game was awesome to me
I don't like mgs5 much but I like wildlands so I guess opinion could be different even on similar games
@@writerlairchannel2636 Wildlands has shit stealth. That's why I prefer MGSV and Breakpoint. But I still liked Wildlands a lot. It's just not for stealth game players.
@@TheFirstCurse1 I don't think you understand what wildlands is but ok
@@writerlairchannel2636 Then explain what it is. There was meant to be some stealth, but the stealth is so basic and one-dimensional that it's practically non-existent.
You get spotted by one guy for a single millisecond and all of the sudden the entire enemy base knows exactly where you are and gain wallhacks.
I absolutely love Breakpoint! 1000+ hours since launch and much prefer it over Wildlands. After the Operation Deep State DLC, I've basically turned the game into open world Splinter Cell. Taking down objectives all over Auroa with just a silenced pistol and a karambit never gets old! :)
I got breakpoint during the steam spring sale and even with all the improvements since it’s launch, it still just feels like a weak experience.
Thats Ubi for ya
The only things I dislike about Ghost Recon nowadays are lack of tactics options for AI companions and bad story, but both these problems have been a recurring feature on "Tom Clancy" series since the 2010s. I want some Rogue Spear/OG Ghost Recon level strategy plus Splinter Cell level plot & dialogue
I’ve played 80+ hours of breakpoint and I gotta say after the first 5 ish hours and you’ve got a lot of good gear and more skill switching to immersive is amazing and once you’re super good the games soooooo fun
The story is definitely an eh in terms of gaming stories but man, the scene where Walker fights four of his soldiers by himself because they aren't deadly enough in his mind was sick af
As a rookie, I find playing with the side teammates is really great if you’re wanting to get bigger quickly, while also progressing story missions 👌🏼 I’ll just say the Ai have absolute aim bot if you’re flying a heli or a turret vehicle 😂😂😂 so have fun out there lol
No gear score next time around, but gear with attributes. Would you like more ammo on your gear or armor? Or a nice mix between the 2, modify however you need.
Also, it's Ghost Recon. Pretty much saving the world today (kinda) with the tools and training of tomorrow. Give the Ghosts their technological edge next time around, more like Future Soldier or Advanced Warfighter. Optical camo, Warhound, MULE, multipurpose drone. Bring back stuff like that.
I stopped playing The Division 2 for this game three years ago and have been playing it ever since. Ghost Recon Breakpoint is absolutely ADDICTIVE!
I actually enjoy the gear score mechanics because it makes me feel like I am actually able to upgrade my gear beyond adding minute attachments.
One of my favorite games I got wildlands loved it and wanted a newer more updated version and here this was I have 490 hours and it platinum there some problems like every games has but it is still amazing personally
I really enjoyed Breakpoint… after like a year and a half when they actually completed the game through updates.
Love all the games you cover
The thing I don't like about Breakpoint is you can have it on the hardest settings and the AI squad can clear a zone with out you even getting fired at. Whereas in Wildlands they can find a dead body 5 mins into clearing a zone and they head straight for you. Hopefully the next one has a good blend of both
A remaster for wildlands would be great for everyone who likes ghost recon I liked breakpoint a ton but for different reasons than wildlands
I enjoy this game quite a lot and I just love slowly move around the map, exploring things and enjoying graphics and animation. My only issuue with the game is this futuristic setup with all these unnecessary drones and robots. I love moving around in the forest areas and I"m so done with these office buildings and construction areas, they all look alike to each other. Mixing Breakpoint gameplay with Wildlands setup would make such a perfect game.
One of the best games that I play from time to time but I always want to play it more. Freedom is something that is so awesome in this game.
I liked the levelled gear, come at me!😂. Forced me to use different guns
I'll be honest I never was into Ghost Recon. The ONLY reason I like this particular one is the reason most people hate it. I like the Loot/Leveling/Skill stuff. It has a Division(Which I loved that and Division 2) feel to it but more realistic. Like the fact I can hit someone with a head shot and they actually die. I just started playing this game but I already have about 40 hours in it and can tell I will be spending well over 100+. This is the exact same thing that happened for me with Assasins Creed. I Didn't like those games either until Origins came around and Added those things. That said, I like what they did here in giving players a choice of playing the way I like to play it OR playing it Tactical style that others seem to love. I wish more games would offer something like that. Not ALL of us hate looter shooters!! I hope in the next Ghost recon they again offer the choice that they have in this game as I think that helps to serve both types of gamers.
I wrote this game of at launch no toing to lie. I really enjoyed wildlands, but the lotter shooter stuff isn't for me. I'd like to pick this up on sale and give it a go, it looks really good with the more immersive mode and i like you can tweak it. I do lie some HUD elements, but i can't do weapon levels in a more "realistic" game.
I swear, every time I start playing a game again, you upload a video on it within 2 days. I literally reinstalled the game 3 days ago.
I missed out on the launch, I first played it maybe 2 years after it came out. I really enjoyed it
Wild lands world + breakpoint gameplay = perfect ghost recon
My main complaint with the game was that I didn't like the voice actor for Nomad and I hated how they removed your helmet/mask in cutscenes. It ruined the immersion of being a "Ghost" when you just give everyone your identity. At least in my opinion.
I’m sure the original actor was either too expensive or otherwise engaged, but it would have been nice to get the same guy. The voice coupled with the massive body change makes the two nomads seem like totally different people. And yeah cosmetics staying on during cutscenes was one of the best aspects of immersion in wildlands.
@@cameronnovy3718 Yeah, I think the original Nomad was working on The Division 2.
The one thing I’ll never understand is how was the island on lock down but people were still showing up to work?
I think it's because they are really working with guns to their heads.
I totally forgot that AI Teammates were patched in.
Because they listened to the community it became a fantastic game 🎮 🖤😊
I Love tactical shooter which made me buy this average game but i still played 200hours
I miss this game so much due to being a father for the first time i didnt have time so i sold everything and yeah it had its issues etc... but you had good perks and when engaging with the enemy as well stealth. Better than fornite i tell you that.
Yeah, super realistic movement. Including pausing at the bottom of the ladder for 3 seconds before climbing, just to randomly stop climbing based on camera angle.
I love breakpoint have complete it a few times now I just kinda do my own thing and role play and clear bases I wish there was a create mission system that would be cool
IMHO, the melee takedown animation is way over the top
6:26
And you too buddy, You too
The game was under $20 when i bought it on steam. It was enjoyable for that much. That includes all of the dlc and content that came out
It was finally playable. List finished. Thanks. Next video 😅
I thought Aurora was much more diverse map than Bolivia. While the technology was bit too out there, the game had better side cast and I liked how you could get more information from them while you progressed / discovered more stuff. But what I really like is how you could customize your own difficulty by altering game play sliders. Also no two main weapons.
You're right about survival stuff feeling gimmicky. You didn't need to drink water for example at all.
Aurora wasn't more diverse than than Wildlands tho lol..... It didn't even have *half* the environmental variation of Wildlands..... in both topography, and the actual environments.
I love playing this game on PC my old one struggled to run the game at 2k med settings, now I can get 130FPS on 2k ultra and ultimate textures bu the game crashes on Vulkan API but works fine on DX11 mode.
I’ve tried a couple times to really dig into Breakpoint and although ultimately it may not be for me, I constantly wonder whether it’s my expectations or perception that’s off. Not trying to sound philosophical lol but I know that i could really enjoy Breakpoint…. I just don’t know how to get there
I wish they would take this game and make a more realistic story. No magic tech, no loot, no evil dude in a paintball mask
Wassup bro love your vids
The next Ghost Recon Game should be a Sequel to Future soldier and they Should make a sequel more like Splinter cell conviction
It’s a great game, just took 2 years to get there after release
sadly even though you can now turn off the looter shooter mechanics, it's ripples are still felt in the game for example the incredibly grindy feeling of unlocking gear and weapons makes it get boring so incredibly fast. I could be 40 hours in and still have unlocked only a couple shirts and like 3 Assault rifles and 2 handguns...
Playing with the same gear for hours makes it go stale so fast that I don't have the stomach to finish this game or recommend it to anyone.
I would think that if Ubisoft wanted to bring over a mechanic from The Division the base development; given the prevalence of Erewhon and to a lesser extent the Outcasts home base, would have been the obvious choice over the looter shooter mechanics. Rescuing and recruiting specialized personnel, "finding and acquiring" (see also: stealing) equipment and materials to improve the capabilities of homesteaders/outcasts etc.
Also, am I the only one who's getting tired of these games sending us in to rescue citizens and assisting/ organizing resistance movements and the people who were pretty much on the verge of death going "Oh thank god you're here to rescue us! We don't have the training or experience to fight these bastards!" one minute but "FUCKING PAY ME." the second we ask for the weapons, ammo and equipment we need IN ORDER TO SAVE THEM!
Breakpoint has a point to the point mentioned in this video
6 Things Ubisoft Did Right:
1- the visuals
2- the visuals
3- had a celebrity
Gee, I wonder why they keep making shallow gameplay…
Breakpoint could have been a cool BR or Extraction shooter tbh
Can we all talk about just how absolutely stupid it was that this game launched without AI teammate, it made the game either way too hard or too easy since it force you to play on easy difficulty for solo play
Is the game is more fun on imersive mode ?
i want to give it a go but al i hear is that wildlands is better but its locked 30 on ps5 and breakpoint has a ps5 fps update so it hits 60fps
yup but even bettter in conquest mode which plays like Wildlands
@@Tarriq what is the difference between imersive mode ande conquest mode
to be honest, i didn't mind the solo play, made it feel very challenging, and really added to the atmosphere of the game
It also encourages going in stealthily and during the night as you don't have backup
@GB1510 Yes, that's what the camps are for :3
I want “Breakpoints” everything in “Wildlands” world.
very nice ! keep ap the good work!
I love breakpoint but I wish they had forced in teammates so they could be in they storyline too.
This is a little off topic, but is it just me who loved how unbalanced Wildlands was sometimes? Like enemies could literally snipe from the sky while parachuting (which was hella annoying), but you could recon their entire base with one button press with your drone and then detonate that drone on their generator. It was dumb archaic fun that I would really like to see remade in the upgraded engine.
Such a fun and beautiful game 👍🏻
I play the crap out of this game. It would be nice if there were more dense areas. Especially proper urban environments
Only people who seemed to really like this game are the people who played like me with Immersive Mode and absolutely No HUD.
I really ghost recon breakpoint but the futuristic robots AI killed the vibe for me.
I do find it annoying when you stab someone from behind, anyone near will still hear you like you shot the guy instead, I'd understand if I stab them from the front and they tried to stop me and someone noticed but the back stabs are quick and clean
I never understood we want a lone survivor gameplay but at the start you are thrown into a hub area full of other "lone survivors" you can recuit so why not just have your AI teammates there from the start.
Also Jon Bernthal was in like 4 cutscenes Ubisoft needs to stop wasting resources on celebrities and use it on the actual game development
please upload metal gear videos plsss should you buy metal gear solid V in 2023 pleasee
Repetitive
Imagine that last of us 2 gameplay in a open world ghost recon game wowww
I reaaaaaaaaly like this game bro, I got into it a bit late in it's ... existence? The only gripe I have with it is that it's not cross-play. I have friends on ps5 and we would play this game basically everyday bro. but now cross play. hopefully it's in the next game.
if this game was open world PVP and fightting for missions will be siiick pvp that makes the game alive i mean open world pvp not just 5v5 5x5 map or smaller
Breakpoint is great nowadays, I enjoy playing it althougjt the story, setting, and map feel lackluster compared to Wildlands, but the map isn't horrible imo just not as cool as Wildlands.
Gameplay wise I like it more than Wildlands, which good gameplay is what I look for in a game, so I will say I think breakpoint I like more than Wildlands.
also one of the reasons people dont like it is because they dont know how to play it they just rush it and dont experience the true fun of ghost playing
I play the hard-core mode makes it a hole new game
Unidad are harder to kill than the wolves
Now i got an error where for no reason it restart my first save file
why does your game doesnt crash ? and is it only a steam issue ? if i buy it from ubisoft will it crash ?
I really like the video. But touching on the lack of ai teammates on launch with them not even having them in mind to begin with is so stupid. Regardless of the lone wolf survival aspect. You go to Erowan and see all these online players insinuating that others survived and hence you play online co-op but story wise it made no sense forcing online sqauds when ai teammates should’ve been there at launch
All this game is missing is a battleroyal or a mode like squad
Best thing about this game is the modding community!
0:40 I don't like the usage of "objectively" in a opinion piece while I do favor Wildlands over Breakpoint the usage of objectively is rather arrogant.
They need to make it off line too like wildlands thats a down fall with breakpoint always needs connection
the 3 things that bothers me with this game is 1, the map/atmosphere 2, washed out blurry graphics 3, Drones
I finished Breakpoint 2weeks ago (80 hours) and just jumped into Wildlands which I never played before so its very fresh for me.
While Breakpoint does look stunning and it has a big open world, has some cool new mechanics, its nowhere as good as Wildlands.
1. Animations does look cool and everything but I cant tell how many times they didnt work and or died because of them. I got stuck on things, had to wait till the animations finish before I was able to move etc... Just like in RDR2, sometimes less is better gameplay wise.
SPOILERS
2. They got the Punisher and they absolutely wasted it. After he died early in the game, I couldnt give a single fuk about the story cause he was out. It really pissed me off. What an idiotic design choice.
Did the story continue after he died lol
@@petrkovalenko7211 yes but you only beat early if you went to immersive mode. With the gear score on I beat the game when it first released so I think he had a gear score of 180 or 200 which means you took a long time to beat him, you didn't end up killing him till well past the halfway point.
@@petrkovalenko7211 He died early in the story, yes the story continued and yes we still get some punisher but its all flashbacks. Why would I care someones flashback when the person is out of the game.
@@PocokPresents but didn’t they stop the drones and stuff when he died(the cliché character pressing the button and saying « it’s done »)
What makes me frustrated about this game is that it has everything and nothing at the same time. So it has like the tactical stuff down, but it doesn’t have any like realism to it. For example, my character can literally wear a tank top in the mountains where there is snow and have no environmental effects no ragdoll physics you can’t really interact with the environment like repelling or climbing mountains. even in far cry you could repel you couldn’t necessarily climb the mountains like hand-in-hand, but I’m not even asking for that all I’m asking is like any open world game like this were survival is like one of the main goals why are there so many limited options to interact with the environment not added to the game it just doesn’t make sense to me and WALL also doesn’t make sense is that it took them forever to add a Gilly suit head I mean that is the main premises of the game to be a ghost a whole Gilly suit with no Gilly suit hood I Me in till now they actually have it but still took them forever to make a game that like I said in the beginning has everything in nothing at the same time me personally, I don’t play the game anymore is this that you have so many different environments in your care that we do he doesn’t interact with them at all kind of defeats, the purpose of being kind of stranded on an island with elite mercenary’s in and unforgiving terrain
Just my opinion here but how Breakpoint is now is how it should have released. I can't praise Ubi for correcting mistakes that should NEVER have been made. GR IS and ALWAYS will be a squad based tactical military shooter and should never be a solo survival boyscout looter shooter with terminators 🙄 imo.
Survival elements shouldn't be in GR imo, it should mainly be about the gunplay, squad play, firefight engagements and tactics. I hope survival elements don't return but I don't mind the injury system.
We expect animations and graphics to get better so 🤷🏻
As for takedown animations in Breakpoint, I can't stand the over exaggerated, long Hollywood takedowns. Getting locked out of controlling your ghost for 6 seconds isn't fun or practical in a stealth game. Most of the time the character in the animation are completely out of sync anyway 🤷🏻 GRFS had much better, smoother, more realistic and practical takedowns and animations. Splinter cell blacklist will ALWAYS have the best animations in any Ubi game.
For the next game, I hope they go back to that boots on the ground black ops style game and gritty story, a more realistic and lived in world and better gunplay with longer distance engagements and more squad options. Give up functioning camo, a weight management system and some type of destruction or environmental interactions.
Not so much a fan of games that trade good gameplay for graphics, I'd play a ghost recon that looks like playdoh if it was good. So tired of goobisoft removing key features from their games, like when they made it impossible to snipe past 500 metres, and made the bullet drop so much worse.
I would absolutely love to play Breakpoint, then I remember that it's a huge Ubisoft open world game filled with shit and then I get Wildlands flashbacks.
If only they didn't put those bullet sponge robots in this game.
What’s the cloak outfit called you’re using in the footage?
Walker
