  • This is a great little rule with super sharp and accurate markings, I do a microscope comparison to a SPI and the fidelity of the Starrett is much better.

Love starrett rulers, have picked up a few from garage and estate sales, some new in pack for cheap in a bundle deal. A must have and a good tool to have to use. Recently picked up a #414 for $10 new in paper pack at my local flea market, huge graduations and numbers made me fall in love with it! It will be mostly displayed but will use when I use with wood, so beautiful.

Have used many steel rules over the years. My favorite is ‘ARCH’ brand, made in Japan. I would buy more but I can not find any info about them anywhere.
    FYI, there are different “scales” offered for machinist rules. 1/8”, 1/16”, 1/32” and 1/64” is a ‘4R’ scale. 1/16”, 1/32”, 1/50”, and 1/100” is a ‘16R’ scale.

I got a Mitutoyo a few weeks ago Standard on one side metric on the other. Such a useful little ruler. I was hesitant for $12 but don’t regret the purchase now

Yes! The Starret is the type I have been using for 30 years. I have had the 6 & 12", and for $40 recently bought a 24". The 6" & 12" are General #'s 616 and 1216. The 24" is made by Products Engineering, #501-024. All have the deep stamped graduations.

If they don't say it's Stainless Steel, it probably isn't. I'm pretty fond of my Mitutoyo www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00027958O but it has metric on the other side instead of tenths-of-an- inch. Stainless steel, made in the USA, and half the price. I measured the length with my digital caliper and it was dead nuts six inches, for what it's worth! No jokes...

This item is called a Rule and is not a Ruler. A ruler is someone like a King.
