- In search for the best winter spots Kristin & I went on a road trip through Lapland in Finland and checked out all the things to do in Lapland and it was magical!

I know it took a while to finish editing this video as I had to struggle with the 4k video data I got from my new toy: the drone. I'm now able to shoot lovely aerial footage to give you an even broader picture of the destination.
Our trip to finnish Lapland started in Rovaniemi with the visit of the Santa Claus village where we said hi to Santa himself and had some fun tubing and drinking at the ice bar in Snowman World.
Snowmobiling was a great way to start our second day & I would say it's one of the must dos in Lapland for sure!
Next stop was the area of Ylläs where we spent most of our time: ice sculpturing, snowshoeing, skiing, dog sledding, a reindeer safari, sauna and northern light sightings made this trip to once in a lifetime winter experience!

This road trip was executed in only a week with a rental car and a well planned itinerary - following I list all the places we visited & things to do in Lapland (Finland):

I was there as a kid,it was more snow than I ever could have imagined!!! And sooo cold in February! But beautiful,mostly I remember the snowy forests, breathtaking! That was 40 yrs ago...Since then I travel to Greek islands whenever I get a chance😍

M. J. It is so amazing there I went yesterday (Tuesday) and I loved it! I do recommend you stay for two days as it will be tiring if you go on the airplane and leave on the same day you will be tired 💤 I did this and I was super tired 💤 I woke up at half three in the morning and got back the next day at 1:40 am. Well carry on it’s you’re dreams and beg you’re parents

some Finns are born with a golden spoon up their arse, because they dont realize just how great Finland is to live in. also applies to other nordic countries. they are usually ppl who havent really traveled alot.
Do your country yourself,like you wanna. Our grandfathres did it in war,to give ourselfs that spoon in our asses.
And there is no excuses to that i live in country,where my grandfathers fight,for that i have a spoon in my ass.

And we Finns escape to Thailand in winter :) I do agree, Lapland is something special in winter, spring (around March) is the best time to visit I think, still full winter but more sunlight and usually not too cold anymore. BackPackerSteve, thanks for the cool video!

-25C and below gives the best views because at that temperature air just can't anymore carry really any humidity and it condenses and freezes to trees.

wow!! amazing caputures! I was in the Enontekio region, north of Rovaniemi and yes, its a real winter wonderland. The Sauna experience, dog sledging, cross country skiing are just sooooooooooooooooooo good. The best is, the people are very nice.

Me an my family we go to Lappland every year because we have our own cottage. We go to Ruka Kuusamo instead of Rovaniemi.
I can’t even tell how much I love Finland. The worst part is that it’s like a 12 hour drive from the south part of Finland to the Northern part of Finland.

Heaven on earth. My great-grandmother Saima Heikka was from Ylitornio. She immigrated to the US and settled in Washington State. The landscape is similar, but the the climate is less cold and snowy in winter. My dream is to visit (or even live in) Lapland. I'm built for the cold.
