The echo of past glory of the imperial fleet. Lifeless and empty, yet still terrifying with its truly titanic proportions and bristling with countless guns and sensors covering the entire plane of the ship. A monster capable of morally defeating the enemy without firing a single shot, just by its appearance alone.
What irony, the monstrous size of the behemoth, the pride of the best shipyards in the solar system, became a victim of its own arrogance and overconfidence. Having charted its first and only course. The ship was supposed to exit hyperspace from the other side of the nebula; why it ended up on this side remains to be seen. Centuries later, having explored new frontiers of space, and conveniently, time as well, the first intergalactic scientific expedition was gradually approaching on its yacht, the Calypso, turning the ship's bow towards the belly of the Leviathan cruiser, to the spot where, according to surviving blueprints, the docking ports were located.
The mass of the cruiser gradually obscured all visible space with its ugly, dirty-brown silhouette. Conversations among the crew members were replaced by tense, disjointed negotiations before docking and the first exit. The crew was not a timid bunch nor was it their first time stepping aboard lost ships; bravery was not in short supply, but not this time. The loss of the Leviathan in its time led to major scandals and investigations, although the truth was never fully uncovered. Firstly, due to secrecy considerations, and secondly, many people involved in the matter either disappeared or met premature ends. Nevertheless, the ship was dubbed cursed, and everything associated with it was steeped in rumors and horror stories.
Breaking into pairs in the corners of the expansive navigation deck of the Calypso, the crew members discussed the upcoming exit. The astrogator glanced worriedly at the monitor panel once again; data was slowly flowing from the Leviathan and its surroundings in all possible ranges, and trying not to show that he was more worried than usual, he suddenly straightened up and ordered everyone to prepare for docking...
