HOW to CROCHET MOBIUS TWIST SHAWL and HOODED COWL - DIY Tutorial for Moebius Wrap

  • You can learn how to Crochet the Mobius Twist Shawl and Hooded Cowl in this DIY tutorial video. Hi I'm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia. This crochet mobius (moebius) twist shawl wrap and hooded cowl makes for a nice gift for yourself or someone else!
AS A REMINDER - when you get to ROUND 2, be sure you keep crocheting until you reach the CH-3. If the CH-3 is still on the BOTTOM - it means you haven't crocheted enough stitches on that round - just keep going and going!
Although it looks kind of complicated, this is one of the easiest shawls you will ever crochet. Plus you will learn a super easy way of joining a long chain into a ring without it getting twisted. Made with Lion Brand Wool-Ease Tonal bulky weight yarn and a size P (10-12mm) crochet hook, you can crochet this wrap very quickly.

So glad someone asked this as I was having the same problem and was just about to unravel everything and start again! Instead I kept going and it worked :)
I'm finding my slip stitch join looks a bit messy though... a bit loose or something. It doesn't line nice all nice and neat. Any tips?

Are you saying that you need to crochet around the bottom and the top to make 124 DC? In the tutorial you didn't mention that so it seems a little confusing.

This is such an easy and neat pattern! I did have the problem of getting through the round and finding my CH-3 on the bottom, immediately believing that I'd messed up somehow, but your comment reminder made me keep going and I quickly figured out what I was doing. Beware the crisis of confidence--if your CH-3 isn't where you think it should be, keep going with your double crochets. You'll figure it out after that first completed round. Just finished mine today!

I think it might be worthwhile to mention....when working into the foundation chain, work into one loop, front or back, only. That way, when you get to the part where you don't join/keep going into the underside of the foundation chain, you'll have some nice stitches to work into. :)

Thank you, Donna . . . I have saved this Mobius tutorial as one of my favorites. My shoulders are 46 inches around, so, since I’m using a lighter weight yarn along with a smaller hook, I simply placed my yardstick in front of me in an upright position and crocheted a string of stitches that equaled the circumference of my shoulders. That came to 140 stitches. Your tip for keeping my line straight worked perfectly . . . Thank you, again, with all my heart! God Bless you, Dear One! 😘❤️🌹🕊🙏🏻
