  • 45 degrees parking to the front - The “Normal Way”. In this video I show the technique that most people use in everyday life when parking at 45 degrees to the front, both to the left and the right. Meaning, parking in one single maneuver, without stopping between steps.

Thank you for creating videos to help us. I passed my test today on the first try after years of being terrified of driving. Sending hugs from California.

Where I live in Ontario, Canada, there usually aren't that many places where we do 45 degree parking, just mainly 90 degree parking, but yes, vision is pretty much the number one thing to do when doing any parking like this, whether parking at 45 degrees, 90 degrees, reverse parking, or parallel parking. I still use reference points even as an experienced driver, because they do help at times, especially when reverse or parallel parking. But with forward parking like you said, it's more instinctive, since you can see where you're going more clearly, compared to when you're backing up, where the field of vision is more restricted.

When do you start to turn full lock to the right? You didn't say. What's the reference point? Is it when your side mirror is aligned with the line of the target spot closest to you?
