    Thanks for the videoJust changed one in a grocery store parking lot. Didn't jack it up or remove or loosen ac compressor. Just dropped washer reservoir and moved ac line. Thanks again.

    I just replaced mine last Sunday. I didn't need to remove the tire. All I did was remove the top screw from the washer fluid reservoir and bend it to the left, then removed the power steering container from the bracket and zip tied it to the right side. The alternator was easily wiggled out from that space you just made. It did take a little effort here and there, but overall, it was way easier than removing the tire and the wheel well liner.

      Questions:
      1) did you totally remove the tensioner?
      2) A/C compressor - just remove the mounting bolts?
      3) What were your symptoms? Here's mine: battery light 'on', then VSA & ABS lights, acceleration slow. Oh, and new battery which won't charge once started.

    • @AmericansBee
      @AmericansBee Před rokem +1

      @SWells679 1. No, i just removed the belt, 2. The only bolts i removed were the 3 for the alternator, 3. Yes, at first just the battery light, then going down the freeway the car studderred and then all the lights dame on, then as the battery became less charged, they flickered. Then the car could be jumped but would die instantly after taking the jumper off.

    I once had to change an alternator on the side of the road (I think I had a junkyard spare with me, because I knew I needed one), and there was no way to get the alternator out of the car without taking the intake manifold off. I struggled for hours trying to find a way, and finally swapped the brushes/parts from the junkyard part into the alternator that was stuck inside the car. It worked perfectly, and I never had to mess with it again.
    It turns out, there was a way to get the alternator out that involved taking the wheel off and going through the fender well. This was before the easy availability of repair information on the internet, so I had no way of knowing that.

    Hello 2 Stroke, I have a 2006 Honda Odyssey EXL. Yesterday all the lights came up on dash and battery went dead fast. I use it to work a taxi service. A mobile mechanic put another alternator on it.. everything check out good after he used his scanner.. my battery is good as well. After driving it about 20 miles yesterday, I parked it then woke up this morning and battery was dead again. He swapped alternator out for another and that alternator charged battery for a short while (but not at first) but after unplugging side plug from alternator and plugging back up, it starting working... but now battery dead again after driving it less than 10 miles... That's 2 new alternators and van is still doing same thing. Also he checked fuses and the ones he checked were good. Any tips would be great & much appreciated regarding what it could be. Maybe a fuse somewhere that people miss? Thank you

      I had this issue with a leaking valve cover. The oil would leak onto the alternator. It was hard to diagnose because the leak would only occur once the engine warmed and built up enough pressure to leak. After removing the alternator and having it tested, it was charging better than a remanufactured replacement. I changed the front and rear valve covers and it never leaked or had charging issues ever again. These alternators typically outlast the vehicle.
