I like the fact that throughout this season everyone’s been trying to kill Barry but it just never seems to work. Then along comes a competent highly trained ex soldier (Jim Moss) and instead of interrogating/killing Fuches what does he do? Drives him straight to the police station. Instead of Killing Barry what does he do? Sets him up to be arrested by a swat team. I think a lot of us expected him to just go the bloody revenge route but he goes out of his way to do things by the book, the way I image his daughter would’ve wanted.

@@Night5225 I don't really believe it's that... he's been piling up bodies throughout the show to try and keep his secret identity as a killer and preserve his false persona...he killed his brother in arms, acting mentor's lover and so on... just so he could try and enjoy a normal life... it was just in his rage and habitual instinct to 'get it done' and because of all the rage piling up inside, he went with it without thinking through things...
Just think of how the show's been going until now with his character... He's always been saying something like 'a new beginning' ..."starting now!" ..."Starting NOW!" (...) it had that comedic-tragic tone to it, because we as viewers knew that trouble would naturally always gravitate back towards him and he'd get into trouble again with bad situations...time and time again he would go back to killing
I love that scene in this last episode of season 3 with him and Albert in the desert, when he catches him burying that biker guy... Albert tells him in the end:
"this has to stop! ...starting now!" ...that scene was so powerful, because it kinda went full circle for Barry...like Albert read his mind, or something... it was like a crossroad for his whole arc...a final warning, of sorts, or last chance for redemption...but he followed his rage...or all the trouble he caused would follow him, no matter what...
I never expected this season to end with such a banger twist in the story... I just wonder how things are gonna go in the final season with his character, because it's so interesting how everything took an abrupt turn in this final episode I just watched...damn. I can't wait for season 4

It's incredible the way this show plays with the viewers' emotions. There were so many times in this season when I thought "someone please for the love of god, arrest barry". But then in this final episode we get just a touch of redemption. He refuses to carry out Sally's revenge plot and takes the blame for her killing the guy. He takes the gun away from Cousineau to try to keep him innocent.
And we almost believe Albert's "starting now" will work. This will be it. Barry will be redeemed and stop being a violent piece of shit.
And I was distraught when Barry was arrested because I thought he was finally going to turn his life around.
But then I realized I fell into that same trap that Barry falls into. The cycle of violence doesn't end and he's better off in jail. What a masterfully done show.

It's hard to express just how dark this is, from Barry's PoV.
    1) In an absolutely mind-shattering event (Barry killing for the first time), he was praised and celebrated for the first time in his life for something he's good at, so he clung to that.
    2) One of the people who gave him that purpose in live get shot during a mission, and barrys' mind goes blank during an adrenaline rush and kills an innocent civilian.
He is now deemed a psycho by those same people who praised him, and he gets dishonorably discharged.
    3) Instead of getting psychological attention where he can come to therms with his mistake, and find a new purpose in live, he gets taken advantage of by Fuchs. Fuchs being like family, and being the only one praising him for the only thing he was ever praised for and not judging him, Barry clings to this threat of hope.
    4) Barry has doubts, but Fuchs knows just how to manipulate the mentally unstable Barry (they are bad people, you're doing everyone a favor), and Barry slides down a slippery slope.
    5) Barry's psyche rejects what he's doing, but he cant tell anyone about it. He tries to find something else he can do, tries to escape the situation, tries acting, but is told he's shit and should get back to what he's good at.
    6) In a cry for help, he confesses everything to Gene (as a substitute for a psychologist), but because (of all things he could've decided to take up as a new profession) he's talking to an acting coach ,not only is he not believed, the guy told him there's something to work with, constantly egging him on. Barry is not only given a way out of this horrible job he has been pushed into, his mind is given the chance to heal too, in more ways than one, or so we think.
He also confesses to Hank (Am I evil), but that fails (to us, hillariously) also.
He confesses to Gene again (Korengal story) and Gene basically commented it with "you killed someone, but got away with it" but not in a concerned or troubled tone, but an impressed one. And then he basically absolves barry of his sins and tells him he is allowed to have a second chance.
    7) During his acting training, barrys' mental wounds are opened again and again, but no one even realises it. Imagine how alone he constantly feels.
    8) People catch on to what he's been doing, and he cant get out of his line of work and his only perceived way to rehabilitation (acting) is jeopardized. Cornered, he kills again.
    9) Things continue going downhill, and here we are. Barry's betrayed by the one guy he thought he could trust. His live is over.
I mean Barrys' by no means innocent, but really, he's had mental issues since before he started as a hitman, and they continued getting worse, because no one saw his troubles, cared, or believed him even if he told them. The only people who did believe him wanted to kill, manipulate, or imprison him.
The entire thing is incredibly tragic, and its kinda fucked up how much comedy it is dressed up in.

One “WAY out of left field” theory I have is Jim Moss offering to train Barry to do what he does in order to shorten his sentence. I thought it was funny that he and Barry both causally mentioned their ability/intention to get others to end themselves.
Not to theorize too much more, but I feel like Barry and Fuches are probably gonna end up in the same jail. I think Fuches will adapt “The Raven” persona to continue to manipulate the prisoners.
    Edit:
Yeah there’d have to be a lot to have happen but I thought it was something interesting. I thought Moss was going to get to interrogate Barry in a similar way he interrogated Gene (but obviously this happened). Regardless I’m excited to see what happens.
I also think Sally will try to threaten or even kill Sam if he is still in Joplin.
    Edit 2:
Thought of one more “crazy/left field theory” last night. I could see Gene’s story going a few ways. I think he might get ostracized again. He worked with the man that killed his girlfriend and then seemed willing to sweep it under the rug for more career opportunities.
I think that’s when Annie (Gene’s ex/ masterclass director) comes in to help as Gene did to her. Gene told her the whole story (ie. threatening to murder his son/grandson, Barry’s first monologue, Barry’s first “snap” in Korengal, etc.) and she thinks they should make a movie or series. However they need everyone to sign the rights to their lives which puts Gene back in contact with Barry in jail/prison.
I know this one is extremely meta but Gene was willing to let a lot slide for career progression. Not super likely to happen, but still fun to theorize at this point.
I still dont have any theories on NoHo Hank but please share if you got one!

I love this scene because it highlights how Barry's not going to change, or at least not on his own. A major motif in Barry is abusive relationships and Barry almost has that same pattern you see in those relationships where, after he turns violent, he says he'll be better "starting now." Literally Sally's play in season 2 had him be violent, break down and feel bad, get forgiven, then repeat the cycle. He has a major confrontation with Albert who gives him one last chance to be better "starting now," and yet he immediately goes back to killing. Even if we want him to learn after all of that, or want him to be good deep down, or rationalize his behavior, none of it's excusable.

Have a weird feeling that barry somehow gets out of this. Whether it's because of possible entrapment or jim/gene getting offed. Seems inevitable that him and fuques square off behind bars first though.
