- Yes, it's a revisit but the siren went off correctly and I recorded it with my new camera.
This is a weekly test of Vanderburgh County's Outdoor Warning Siren System. Tests are conducted every Friday at 12 Noon CST (1:00 EST), weather permitting. The sirens are activated by Central Dispatch who usually sounds them in a short alert tone followed by a short attack cycle during tests.
I was in Evansville for Black Friday and I decided to record the 40V2T I tried recording two times prior. Besides, it's the closest thing I can get to hearing a Cyclone or any other siren with a 2/3 port ratio for that matter. The first time I tried recording, nothing happened. The second time they tested too short, resulting in this siren doing a growl test. However, this third time worked very well. You may also be able to hear the 10V1T at the 4H Fairgrounds not very far away.

Is it just me, or does this sound like the THX Opening?
+NintendoKid23 Nope it does sound like the THX Opening
NintendoKid23 it does
Not just you.
No it sounds like the THX opening
NintendoKid23 no
It's either running on a 208V wye setup, or it's on an 230V open delta setup (both very inefficient for sirens). Like Brandon said, it should be running on 480V for optimum efficiency with a motor this large.
That thing is about to not have screens any longer lol. Great video Brandon, the thing finally peaked!
LONG AZZZZ WIND UP
It is being ran on 208-230 Volts. I believe it should be running 480. "TheWeatherGuys" has some videos of this same siren going off.
What a coincidence I was on the Sentry website earlier to day
Great video!
Behold...THE KING!
Elizabeth_958 I see you used the quote off of sentrys website eh?
Hahaha yeah, forgot about this comment in till now lol
You beat me to it.
@DSRX100 so why is it peaking at the right pitch if its still 250 volts short of its maxium voltage?
Do you have a map for Vanderburgh's sirens?
Could this siren be fitted with solenoids/dampers?
@murrfarms ah i see what you mean. also good luck restoring that 3T22 Ian cant wait too hear the thing scream once its restored.
Love it
It takes it a long time 2 start up
Our tone is like this here in Westmoreland, TN.. one of a few sirens...
+DSRX100 0:40 Thats Fast Wail Not Short Attack
Osiris Sanchez Remember it has a slow wind up and it can't keep up with the timer so it will sound off
how many horsepower is the motor?
40 Horsepower
Not really, but TheWeatherGuys does. It's also on our South-Western Indiana Sirens Map.
Also, Why is this siren so high-pitched? It almost sounds like it will break.
There's a thunder storm in Evansville rn and there was a tornado siren on I'm scared
I believe the siren you head for just for a severe thunderstorm. Evansville likes to set their sirens off for that. It's a little confusing, and I'm not completely sold on the idea, though I'm not completely against it either.
Looks new
Just thought I'd let you know, but on you South-Western Indiana Siren Map, you missed a FS Modulator 4016 in Knox County. It was at the Duke Energy Edwardsport IGCC. Here are the Cordinates to the siren.
38.79865, -87.25462
Whoa, that's an awesome find! I'll have to ask the EMA if that's connected to the main system (I doubt it though). I went ahead and put the location on the Indiana Statewide Siren Map. It can be viewed here goo.gl/uz7LV5 It may take awhile to load. The SW Indiana Map is no longer updated.
Why does this siren go off so early
For testing
Nice Altima xD
why such a slow wind up?

this sounds lilke dad on my ladder
This is my home town
Sounds like the THX logo intro
*THX* @ 0:21
These things have a slow start up
on 480V it does use a lot of voltage but you may find it uses more current on 240V
My Sentry 40V2T has a lower pitch.
+Justin Keomanee It Has the same tone as the THX opening original pitched intro.
you don't own a 40v2t. If you do, then make a video of it!
Spencer Harman He might mean one that's close by him
