- This "Monkumentary" probably should have been titled "A Gag Too Far". It expanded on the brief Gregorian Chant fad in the early 90's and features members of the Rhino Records band Big Daddy chanting songs. The video stars Judy Tenuta, Jaime Widdoes, Brett Hudson, Jeff Altman and Andy Kindler. Jeanne Basone is the bikini babe in one video. They perform Do Ya Think I'm Sexy, Hey Hey We're The Monks and Losing My Religion among others. Directed and Produced by Brent Carpenter, Written by Dylan Brody. Copyright 1994.
Cute film...heard about it but never saw it before. Nice to see Brett Hudson in something filmed after 1979. :-) Thanks for posting this!!
Hey BIG DADDY Fans…(aka Benzedrine Monks)
Thanks for your support here on You Tube. We are trying to put together a new album through Kickstarter and are now in the final two days of the campaign. If you’d like to see us record again, here is your chance…
There are some great rewards available for contributing including some one of a kind & recently discounted.
…Go to kickstarter and search for "Big Daddy, Smashing Songs" for all the details…Thanks, Bob Wayne,
I came up with and did that Monk/The Monkees parity in the 1980's!
Directed here from Coursera. This really spoofs the music industry using the Chants as the medium to deliver how manipulative the industry can be when the dollar is at stake.
Man that Judy Tenuta still can get my motor runnin! Vroom! Vroom! Dan from Coursera.
Also directed here from Coursera. Not sure of relevance to our course, but a clever satire on what Chant was "offering". In fact I thought it cleverly but not too subtly satirised the integrity & honesty of the music industry music & the RC Church.
I'm here from Coursera! Long Island, New York.
Hi: Bob Wayne here from the band BIG DADDY aka THE BENZEDRINE MONKS... I wanted to let you all know that you can pre-order our new album and lots of other cool stuff on Kickstarter. Search for Big Daddy Smashing Songs

Thanks a lot to Prof. Muller for this link!! This video shows exactly what I was thinking about after the 1st one. The only thing I regret is that I've added 1 more view to this video. Moreover, now I know that "Pussy Riot" didn't do ANYTHING bad with their performance!
Also Coursera! (from Argentina).

Coursera from Lebanon :D
I agree that this is plain silly. Not especially funny. I like the original CHANT.....very soothing in this hectic world.
Sue from Coursera....from USA
coursera!
Sue again from Coursera.
I understand this is a spoof. To my way of thinking though, humor is not humor when it attempts to poke fun at the expense of other peoples beliefs, religion, ethnicity, color, sex, physical atttibutes. etc. There's even a snide remark about midgets. Gregorian chant is considered a form of sacred music ,a liturgical music. No one is forced to listen to it. The Benzedrines saw a moneymaking opportunity.
is this guy from the wizards of waverly place???? o_o
this is funny
Kraków from Coursera :D
Here from Coursera...OK a little funny...but 2 minutes is enough. I happen to like the original chant.
Has a Monkees Song....but not the Monkees singing/chanting it. Not correct information. Kinda disapointing. Coursera, PA
What is coursera?
I was beginning to get bored and then Mr. Keydick shows up with his HWHPS and holy wafer lite with the same amount of holy spirit. Hilarious!
I guess it's a little out of what we're used to. Not bad, just silly.
Coursera from Peru, greetings. A foolish video !!
I am @ Pripra32
Great Film
Hi from Brazil.... this video is silly....
Monks and Therapist...
ditto LOL
I do not care for parodies. Gregorian chants are meant to be seek the communion with God thorugh music.
me
Didn't think it was funny...I'm with CeliaSikorski.
I am @pripra32
im not against any religion but this is so creepy...
From Coursera -- I don't find it funny
I don't understand the humor presented in this video. What's the message here? Lost my time.
I enjoy mediation so I would probably enjoy chant but this is just silly and unnecessary.
Some of the worst jokes are on this video.
