    Watching this episode vs my "mint shape" 2000 Scramble 400 : an oil pump leak, good compression, rad hold coolant, dry/not too dark spark plug, clicking starter solenoid (cranking some time), questionable sparks (on and off) and an unknown carb.......l guess it was parked years ago when 2T oil leaked and never run again.....

    What is the thread pitch on the 3/4 rod you made into a clutch puller? Did you taper the end of it or grind off any of the threads?

    If everything is clean, properly maintained, how long do you figure it’d take to pull the motor? 1/2 hour?
    I’m thinking of using the motor in something else during the winter months.

  • @WagsAutomotive
    @WagsAutomotive Před rokem

    Well I pulled the dipstick out of the transmission and the magnet is full of steel. I think it's locked up because the transmission exploded. Can the transmission explode & lock up the engine? Are they rebuildable when they blow up, or should I just get a new one?

    • @TitaniummanGarage
      @TitaniummanGarage  Před rokem

      transmissions can be rebuilt. I have a video on one being rebuilt. If the tranny is locked up it will put pressure on the belt and the clutch will have a hard time turning on the engine. The engine and Transmisson are separate. Try to remove the belt and see if engine runs.

    I have the Florida version a 90 trail boss 250 can't get the clutch of I'm going to try that the piston had no compression it has been sunk probably many time wired up for nothing but pull start and no battery but it dose have great spark the top bolt on the head was a bitch to get out so after seeing that I'm sure it needs crank seals and bearings I don't know if you've done a video on that I like these Polaris and you've answered some questions before it's much appreciated as the dealership is useless with older machines

      Thanks. Did you see this video? czcams.com/video/lI1R7Wi1xnM/video.html Its for a 400 but the installation of the seals are the same. I've used a 3 inch wood screw. screwed it in the seal to get it out just and use a press for the bearings. you can get a cheap press at harbor freight. Good idea for a video. I love these older machines too. lots of power off the line and they are easy to repair compared to a 4 stroke. Good luck with the 250

    • @TitaniummanGarage
      @TitaniummanGarage  Před 4 lety +1

      @@georgehuffert5157 Your giving me all kinds of ideas for video's. thanks. Best thing to do is unbolt linkage from tranny and shifter. take a vise grips, turn shifter on tranny to neutral on high and low if it has it. put shifter in neutral. loosen nuts on both ends of shift linkage and spin the ends till they fit in the holes of the shifter and tranny. then adjust once running and tighten nuts. lots of guys jam them into gear and the dog gear in tranny goes to hell. I have a video how to rebuild a tranny if your is that bad. and sometime shifter goes bad gets rusty inside. you can take the 4 screw out of the top and inspect it. there is a small spring inside so be carefull when you take it apart to see where it goes.

    Dude please help. Have a 2001 scrambler 400. And my carb i think. Can barly get it running. and when i do. Soon as i hit the throttle it bogs and dies. Have to feather the throttle to get any type of revs. Looks like its dumping fuel in the carb . Cleaned everything and i dont know what to do. Any thaughts

    • @TitaniummanGarage
      @TitaniummanGarage  Před 4 lety

      It could be lots of things. First try a rebuild kit for the carb. Everyone says you can just clean it and go. I've found out it performs better with a new jet. Check your throttle cable. Does it stick anywhere? Check your oiler. Is it stuck open? If so try a new cable. I'm assuming its a 2 stroke. Pull the sparkplug and drain the case. There might be too much fuel at the bottom. And check the exhaust. I had a mouse nest in one of mine. What color smoke is coming out of exhaust? Also check your carb settings air/fuel mixture screw. Also the place your cable comes into the carb. sometimes turning it in or out will lower the amount of fuel coming in. And lastly do a compression test. you can rent a tester at any auto part store. compression should be above a 100. I've seen em run at 85 but pretty weak. Hope that helps. Its hard to diagnose without seeing it.
