I made this video simply because I've personally loved seeing Messi in his old 'False 9' position during our first two league matches of the season. I think we all desperately want to see Messi as advanced as possible on the pitch - where he's most dangerous. We've seen goals, chances created, incredible dribbles and stunning combinations from Leo over the past few matches. And although I don't expect him to remain in this role for the duration of the season, it is a very nice option to have for Ernesto Valverde. It's certainly been good fun to watch defences panic about whether or not they should be picking Messi up and midfielders desperately hoping that he's not their responsibility. I decided to use music during this video, as I've made my main points via the captions, but I also wanted to add the quotes on Messi in the audio too - because before today, I hadn't heard all of these compliments to Messi, so I thought you may want to hear them too. This would also require very skillful midfielders which I think Rakitic has no place in.
