Strategy:
This squad would probably help a lot at trying to survive the mod.
Wortox: his healing is great for this, as you can see on the video, however he'd probably go insane easily and him alone isn't enough to do it.
Walter: with his rock rounds killing butterflies without having to leave the turf, it'd help reduce damage taken while trying to farm souls, and would be even better once he got gold rounds for also killing birds and rabbits, his mobile tent would also help a lot with sanity and hp if needed.
Wendy: helps dealing with swarms so always good to have, helps farming bees and spiders for souls and more importantly, if the situation gets desperate Abigail can be killed multiple times for souls.
Edit:
Maxwell: Maxwell's shadow puppets probably don't take damage from the floor, meaning he could farm logs without the need to step out of safe zone, logs which could go into more flooring.
Webber might help to set up a farm

actually, is 1 butterfly every 4 seconds, as butterflies heal you 8, also, rocky and marsh turf deals 10 dmg per second, so yeah, it needs balancing

The mod page does say barren tiles are much safer so I think the idea is you have to make yourself roads by digging up the turf.

Wendy is 100% built for this mod. Free butterflys and spiders/silk. Butterfly net to make a collection of flowers in your base and set Abigail loose. Just watch out for krampus

Multiply the damage and healing by 70, and it basically becomes the treespirit challenge/playstyle in Minecraft, but without the Minecraft.
This would eventually become easy when you get the ability to make wood floors yourself and just create like 10 paths to everywhere
