  • This is the "Double-Church Complex of Tremen", a Recreation-and-Adaptation of the Cathedral and Liebfrauenkirche of Trier, Germany. The build is part of a series of recreations of the cathedrals of the three Elector-Archbishoprics of the Holy Roman Empire, beginning with Cologne and planned to be concluded with a recreation of the Mainzer Dom (coming soon). The project was executed by two members of Demesnecraft, meto30 and SwenRedstone, over a period of 8 days. It is surrounded by a city project, Tremen/Temastadt, that will probably take a few further months to be completed.
As befits the oldest city of Germany, Trier's Cathedral boasts a long history that went through several significant evolutions over the centuries, which are evidenced in its layout and form, such as the extant Roman brickwork visible on the church's "false transept" walls. The Liebfrauenkirche just south of the cathedral is notable as "the earliest French Gothic church built outside of France" and features a circular layout with transepts of equal length to the nave, something rather unique in medieval Western Christianity. In the internal lore of Demesnecraft, Christianity is depicted with an analogous fictional religion (which is why, for instance, the high altar has a chancel screen), icons of which can be seen dotting the cathedral interior and the Liebfrauenkirche façade.
Timelapses and the "walking tour" were all recorded using the ReplayMod.

Now I might be wrong but it looks like it was built in survival based on the fact you guys used scaffolding. That's impressive in itself, stunning job.

It felt so good to build together again!
Originally Swen and I intended to build the Aula Palatina (Constantine's Basilica) as well as part of the same timelapse, but we delayed the basilica alongside the adapted cloister to a future collab session, which will probably get its own timelapse along with the castle.
