    Good Video !sometimes smoke can be from tipping the mower on the wrong side or from mowing slopes and sometimes its also from oil levels being to high .

    Nice tips. I've changed the spark plug already has a new filter and recently changed the carburetor on my d110 not sure what else it could be any tips would be appreciated
    P.s.- recently changed from 87 to non ethanol I feel like the gas I got doesn't smell as strong but not enough to be positive

    Thanks. Removed and Cleaned carburetor but after install, still rough and backfiring. I also noticed turning in or out the fuel adjustment makes no difference in running. That not right. But anyway, pulled the plug and sure was a blackened mess. Tried to clean but still ran what seemed to be better but not great. Will get new plug in morning. Thanks for a well presented subject. Nice job. Steve, Plymouth MA USA

    Meaning running rich.. Not enough heat . muffler air leak. Plugs . ignition coil. Also fuel dirty fuel or bad mixier .use ethanol n red oil mix at home depot . clean carburetor with cleaner started with carburetor clean or. N put a little lacquer thinner in gas tank run it for 2 seconds.

    Hey Mate,
    I have taken ownership an MTD ride on mower with a 4P90JUA engine in it.
    The previous owner over filled with oil... they heard a slight bang and smoke...
    I have removed the spark plug, turned the engine over to get rid of any oil in the cylinder... cleaned up the spark plug, made sure it sparked...
    When turning the engine over, there is smoke puffing out the air filter, and fuel spraying out...
    What seems to be the problem here??
    TIA
    Jess - Melbourne VIC

    Honda mower. changed plug, oil, and cleaned filter yesterday. problem seems to be tipped it up to get spent dried grass out from underneath and fuel seeped out through the filter. should I get a new filter? shouldn't have petrol in before finishing.

    • @WatchingGrassGrowOfficial
      @WatchingGrassGrowOfficial  Před 4 lety

      Hey Jack. Its important to tip the mower up on the side that would keep the carburettor at the highest point. Don't tip on the side that would make your carburettor close to the ground - gravity will let fuel run from the fuel tank into the carburettor, this will then flood the carburettor and overflow out of the air filter. Nothing wrong with the filter, just make sure to tip the right way (or turn the fuel off before tipping to stop the flow, if you have a fuel tap) :) Hope it helps!

      Not too sure. If in doubt, drain the fuel and put new fuel in 🙂

    You didn't mention that a sticking choke can also cause rough running with black smoke.

    • @PaleoBunny
      @PaleoBunny Před 4 lety

      How do you fix a sticking choke?

    • @WatchingGrassGrowOfficial
      @WatchingGrassGrowOfficial  Před 4 lety

      If the choke mechanism is working okay, clean out the carburettor as there may be a buildup of debris if the carby hasnt been cleaned for a long time (or if the unit has sat for a long time without use)

  • @ttv_sway9531
