- Finally things are beginning to come together piece by piece. With all the groundwork in place for the electrical. It is down to the finishing touches. I still have to get all the light, switches, and bilge pump wired and mounted. As well as finally finish all my hatch covers. There is still a ton of work to do, but it finally looks like a boat!
I have been putting off the hatch covers for what seems like forever. I had a few made, but still have 2 or 3 to mold. With so many other things to do I have just put it off. The time has come where I have to get it done. I still have to figure out my shelving in the console and leaning post. I have went back and forth on it, but finally settled on a game plan. I want them to be removable. Therefore I am going to make a aluminum tract to hold them in place. That way I always have access to the fuel tank if needed.
With the wiring finally almost done it is time to move on with the project. Next I have to get the trolling motor installed. Probably one of the most exciting parts of the project for me. I have always had the cheaper hand steer or foot pedal motors. Not this time. I still have a huge to do list, cranking up the motor included, but it is coming together. I hope everyone has enjoyed this project along with myself. Thank you so much to all who have watched and subscribed!
Looking forward to #20 on the Carolina Skiff rebuild
I appreciate you walking us through your build. I just purchased a j16 as a project boat. I’m excited to see this boat in the water. Thanks again
My pleasure. I’m just glad a few people have enjoyed it. Thanks for commenting and watching!
Awesome video! Good luck on the first voyage with the boat. It looks great!
Just wonder. Have you installed garboard drains on this skiff. ? . You are adding a lot of weight to the boat with batteries trolling motor etc. If you get water down into the hull you could run into some flotation issues. Yawing issues. I know it's a complete refurb.
