After moving to our new home a few years ago we ended up with tons of rocks, every time we planted anything... rocks, rocks and more rocks... Needless to say after watching this video I knew what to do lol. Thank you so much for showing this craft, now I have a little rock wall around our gravel patio. I wish it was as nice as this one in Cumbria but... lol!
    Cheers from Canada!

We had the same in Scotland where we lived for a time. But a neighbour got in a large rock crusher, and the thing produced gravel, which paid for the rock crusher!!!

greetings from british columbia canada.... first vid i can relate to having done that kind of work..... my first solo job working for my boss was a small wall 3 feet high 2 feet wide and about 40 feet long ..contoured to the landscape ....day one 3 big dump trucks of rock ..said to my bosss thats a lot of rocks he said probably not eneough... i got it done ..one thing i found amazing was there would be an empty space in the wall and out of all those rocks i knew where to find it ...i lived in england for years..country drives and seeing miles and miles of dry stacked rocks talk about sweat work ....i go gold prospecting here in b.c. in some rivers there are dry stacked walls of rocks sometimes running for a mile ...made by chinese miners who would stack the rocks just to get them out of the way or in order to make wing dams to divert the river for mining anyways nice to see your hands on work.... mickey miner

Proper dry stone walling 😎 it's the same where I am here in Cumbria, the stones aren't nice, flat and even like in a lot of the areas in Derbyshire and Yorkshire and elsewhere in the UK, just a random mix of random shaped and round'ish boulders back from when the land was cleared for fields.
Many of the walls have been standing for centuries upon centuries, when one does get knocked down you almost always find interesting bits tucked away in the middle fill, no better way of spending a day than with a little stove for making tea and collapsed wall that needs rebuilding ❤️

I did a week's course about twenty years ago just for interest having patched a couple of holes previously.
I'm a way off being a master stonemason but it's 1:9 theory: practice.
    I should just get practicing

Думал что у нас в Санкт Петербурге Россия проблемы с камнями. Оказывается их не так много.
Мне не хватает этих камней чтобы поднять стену 50см. Нужно завозить с карьера.
    Спасибо, за Ваш труд.

    • @balmesh

Here, the stones are thick enough to build a wall and have enough left over for another!

Your stones are quite small. My wall is made of stones the size of a car wheel. We have more of them in our area. It is more problematic to transfer, but it is easier to stack. They fit more solidly and do not shift in the future. I also made a retaining wall at the gazebo and a basement.
