As a beginner I usually default to drive impact into charged heavy gladius which does 3040 damage. I'm struggling to hit the 3160 damage combo in training mode, so I need to practice it more. But not for the extra 120 damage but for the potential to cancel it into level 3 super. I do this by accident in the training mode sometimes, instead of QCF LK I use level 3 super. Which is good for now because I tend to miss with the QCF LK...
You could do b-hp, qcb hp, f-hp, qcf lk. But sure, i often also go for consistency over max dmg in my own way, gotta win to feel good. I hate to lose when i have the win at hand and drop something 😔

Yw CO! Shes fun, a real scrub killer imo very spectacular to watch and play but also with some glaring weaknesses now that im approaching diamond. The AA is sus, the lights suck, the mid range is OKish..the damage is CRAZY good, the armor is great against drive impact even when you’re burned out and the drive gauge damage on block is also wonderful, you force people to do stuff because you cant block for 10 seconds against this girl

Umm maybe, I think I’d be alright with Ken. Im alright with Ryu and was pretty good with Sagat in sfv so should be doable! First im gonna play some Marisa, i spent more time on the guide than actually playing haha
I'm gonna need you to explain that in plain english for a noob. Lol So you go command grab, and then just as your opponent is vulnerable after getting up you crouching LK them then stance command grab again?
@@victorgbs After doing a light Dimachaerus (Quarter circle back light punch special) you can do a crouching light right after (during their get up, this move will wiff) then go into command grab and will grab them frame 1/2 of their hitbox being active. It's really tight and hard to do. The act of doing the crouching light punch during their wake up is to eat the perfect amount of frames so the next move will hit guaranteed (Given they don't wakeup immune reversal). This method is called a kill frame. The easiest one to prove this concept is Ryu corner grab. As Ryu with the opponent back to the corner, you can grab them, light punch during their wakeup and then grab again on frame 1/2 of their hit box being active. There are videos on youtube of other kill frame setups for a lot of character. If you know the frame data of your normals you can make your own kill frame setups on knockdowns.

Yup! Havent played her in a while but did get hit with it haha. I remember I did find a cool combo route with the held version. You do qcb hp, f-hk, parry drive rush, f-mp, hk…and then you manually time the level 1 super. Its fun to hit and big damage for just 1 bar and lvl1. Its good if you can kill mid screen. Never see it used, try it!
Haha I got them from an online shop called Etsy. They have an app, and they have so much cool stuff. Try it and check if they ship worldwide, I think they do.

The first real fighting game I played online was Dragonball Fighterz and I didn’t play any of those top tier characters, and even tho it’s really a different type of game, in smash ultimate I played Little Mac who is literally the worst character in the game. Marisa just spoke to me when I saw her trailer, I can’t see myself playing anyone else truthfully

Yes you are right, good addition I found out you can do the b-hp, qcb hp, f-hp…then drive rush into f-mp, hk target combo … and then you slightly charge (manual) the Super lvl1, thats a lot of damage for just 1 bar and a lvl 1 , nobody uses that but its pretty cool

I have a rough idea though, I hear all these pro players rate her as very easy but the fact you have to space yourself for an anti air and jump back punch when you arent spaced properly, thats not easy at all and if you mess up in that department, the penalty is high. Ive played her in ranked in 3 sessions now. First session i lost more than I won, second i won about 55% and yesterday it went up to 70% so it clearly takes practise. Its not an obvious archetype imo

Dynamic isnt really viable, but modern and classic are. Classic for marisa is best IMO but if you have no fighting game experience, Modern is much easier to learn and still good. Try it!
Amazing video! Trying to learn Marisa myself this has helped a lot. Can you tell me an option when doing wall crush? Most usual combos don't work because enemy is considered mid air
Yes i would go for cmp (or b-hp) into ex superman punch…then stance/command grab. Thats 3750 and easy to do. could also go for qcb hp, qcf hp, chp charged, m-gladius. Both are in the video, but the qcb hp is much harder to hit

You have to put it together yourself and modern controls are fine to do that actually. 😎 you dont give up that much playing Modern imo
Yes because it doesn’t hehe see, after the knock down i use drive rush to be on top of their wake up and meet them with a charged heavy punch. Thats great because on hit i get a massive combo and on block I am very “plus” because I do the hp from a drive rush (adds 4 frames if hit and block stun) AND its charged, also making it better in block That situation is a setup, not a combo, thats why it will not combo there. That knock down (qcb mp, f-mp) can’t be extended into a combo, you need qcb PP, f-mp (OD version) if you want to extend that situation into a longer combo Hope that helps!

How can you play against Jury using Marisa? Because Jury is very fast and cut many moves from Marisa. It is an annoying to play against that character and also against Lily as well.
Juri; uses long kicks, use charged gladius when you expect one. Block low more often because she uses cmk into drive rush a lot. Cmk beats gladius. Anti air i would jump back mp a lot, because marisas anti air will lose to dive kicks Lily is a one trick pony. Stay close to prevent the wind stocks but if she does get it and uses her OD condor spire to force her mixup, you can block it and then drive reversal her away. It costs you 2 bars but it also costs her 2 bars and she loses a wind stock. Marisa beats Lily imo, Juri is a bit more difficult
By accepting i cant anti air her dive kicks so i try to move and play around it. Neutral jump, parry the dive kick, stance against it and command grab right after. Gotta keep moving and assault her, you have longer buttons, you lose in the air. Gonna be a bad match up most likely though
I'm sorry because I'm not familiar at all with some of the basilar terms you use. I don't know how to "charge", nor the meaning of the "armor" you mention. Plus I'm not sure how to exploit the frames you show up there to my advantage.. Last but not least while I can kick and punch and grab, I can't do any special move (regardless of the name or type) and that really sucks with a character like her. I'm really missing something - keep in mind last time I played SF it was in the early 90's and PS came only recently. I realize I look dumb but again I don't know exactly what to do with the controller to do all the special moves. I should "watch" it to understand better- Sometimes it looks like you should make twice a quarter turn but there's no way I can make it. Also blocking hits seems limited to "parry" as if it was easier to attack rather than defend.
You dont sound dumb at all, there is a steep learning curve at first. 1. You can charge her heavy buttons like her hp for example. You charge by holding down the button before releasing it 2. If you charge a button, your attack will combo into a better combo or will have more advantage for you when they block so that you can attack again 3. Armor is only on some special moves for marisa. It means that she can absorb a hit from the opponent before knocking their lights out 4. Qcf punch is chargable, she gets yellow sparks around her and she will plow through opponents buttons (at the cost of being slow) 5 special move inputs: You can practise in training room. Set the opponent to ‘dummy’ and try to get a feeling of it. Qcf + punch. Feel out how fast you have to do it. Its not that hard if you try it a bit You could also opt for “modern controls”. Look that up on youtube. You bo longer have to use directional inputs like qcf , those will be attached to a macro. A “special move” button. You can just press that button with forward, or back, or down and a special move comes out. Its designed for beginners and its pretty good, it does the job well so thats also an option if you cant get classic controls down now. Ps: forget about the + on block, armor etc etc..first you gotta make sure your character does what you want it to do, thats the start. Hope it helps!
You should try modern controls. Much easier to execute all the moves you want to do, simplified moveset and auto-combos to help you out. If you're planning on becoming a fighting game pro then eventually you'll probably want to learn classic, but if you're just starting out imo it's more important to learn execution, mind games and all the other basics of a fight without having to learn and execute all the commands on top of that!
Hehe its a fighting game term, “Oki”. Shirt for “Okizeme”. It means the situation you have after knocking some one down. When I say Oki in the video, I am saying I have an advantage after knocking some one down and I can continue attacking them as they are getting up.
Sure it is, you can land it after a blocked dp or as a meaty where they press buttons. It starts with a charged back hp, you can land that for sure. You can also skip the charged back hp and do a dingle back hp and do the same combo 👌
I am starting now to play fighting games and youtube guides are all trash. They are either the same as the tutorial, or they are filled with gibberish slang. "You can frame trap with the meaty after the buffer". I bet it could say the same with human language. The game is good, but the community is subhuman garbage. Even worse than dota 2.
Yea there is a pretty high barrier if you wanna understand whats going on. I suggest you start with a video about fighting game terms (from a street fighter player) and one about frame data. You dont have to know everything but its good to understand why something works and why not. Maybe I will make a video like that some time to ease people into the genre, I understand it can be frustrating. And the community is not sub human garbage, but sure there are some rotten apples, I hope you will meet better people through playing Anyway, im happy to help if you have questions about learning the game. You can practise in training room. Set the opponent to ‘dummy’ and try to get a feeling of it. Qcf + punch. Feel out how fast you have to do it. Its not that hard if you try it a bit
You could also opt for “modern controls”. Look that up on youtube. You bo longer have to use directional inputs like qcf , those will be attached to a macro. A “special move” button. You can just press that button with forward, or back, or down and a special move comes out. Its designed for beginners and its pretty good, it does the job well so thats also an option if you cant get classic controls down now.
Ps: forget about the + on block, armor etc etc..first you gotta make sure your character does what you want it to do, thats the start. Hope it helps!
You should try modern controls. Much easier to execute all the moves you want to do, simplified moveset and auto-combos to help you out. If you're planning on becoming a fighting game pro then eventually you'll probably want to learn classic, but if you're just starting out imo it's more important to learn execution, mind games and all the other basics of a fight without having to learn and execute all the commands on top of that!

It means the situation you have after knocking some one down. When I say Oki in the video, I am saying I have an advantage after knocking some one down and I can continue attacking them as they are getting up.
Dude your first combo is not possible in game.
Sure it is, you can land it after a blocked dp or as a meaty where they press buttons. It starts with a charged back hp, you can land that for sure. You can also skip the charged back hp and do a dingle back hp and do the same combo 👌
I am starting now to play fighting games and youtube guides are all trash. They are either the same as the tutorial, or they are filled with gibberish slang. "You can frame trap with the meaty after the buffer". I bet it could say the same with human language. The game is good, but the community is subhuman garbage. Even worse than dota 2.
Yea there is a pretty high barrier if you wanna understand whats going on. I suggest you start with a video about fighting game terms (from a street fighter player) and one about frame data. You dont have to know everything but its good to understand why something works and why not.
Maybe I will make a video like that some time to ease people into the genre, I understand it can be frustrating.
And the community is not sub human garbage, but sure there are some rotten apples, I hope you will meet better people through playing
