Muhammed Hassan's character was too intelligent for the WWE crowd
💩💩💩
Can’t argue with this
The Sheik and the iron sheik has similar gimmicks
@@sewysewy791The Sheik character was one dimensional though, Hassan’s heel character has more nuance though.
The people who hated Muhammad so much were the Attitude era fans.. to them wrestling was real so Hassan had to be a real terrorist... It wasnt easy getting smart dialogue with them that's why they had low ratings in some segments that involved using your head.
Amazing fun fact! This man was my vice-principal in High School! Joined us in the summer of 2015. Marc Copani is a great guy, and everyone at G. Ray Bodley was super excited for this man. He was always cool and calm, and he even talked wrestling with me once. I sincerely hope he’s doing well.
Awesome Share Tyler! Love these "Behind The Scenes" small bio's that show a very human side to the Rasslers! Anyone should be able to see and hear Marc's humility. I can confidently say that many more in his situation would STILL be complaining and hemming and hawing over the unfairness! Marc does what he says...keeping it all in perspective! Cheers From Ohio
So he completely left the business after wwe? Wow
Yeah.. very far from the angry character that he portrays in his wrestling character.. if wwe had their way without upn calling the shots, they could have at least repackaged him, ie he gets to keep his Muhammad Hassan ring name but a Babyface and redeemed version of his heel character.. or maybe a new ring name which includes wrestling under his real name and probably becoming a new member of the full blooded Italians stable alongside nunzio
@@PressPauseProductions He had a brief run on the independent circuit from 2018-2019.
The fact that he has such a short run in wwe and people are still remembering and talking about him to this day just goes to show how talented he really was in the ring and on the mic.
It wasn't his work or mic work that he's remembered for though, it's the character that he was portraying just a handful of years after 9/11 that he's remembered for. It was a great idea on paper to make a mega heel using the old "foreign heel" concept but it backfired due to the timing in which they brought him in and the sentiment of the country after 9/11. It's a crying shame really, it ruined this guys career in the end but that's just how the cookie crumbles sometimes unfortunately.
@@bradburke8232 It actually was his mic work tho! His promos were absolutely incredible
@@cHriiSzbEe Fair enough. I remember him shitting on America with believable conviction but I remember more than anything him doing that while having an arab gimmick and all of that being only a few years after 9-11, have even heard people who were casual viewers during that era recall him as "the terrorist character" and as good as he was playing the character and the idea behind the gimmick being good on paper, being "the terrorist" post 9-11 was like being "special" like Eugene: Once that run is over, there is no coming back from that. Point taken though.
@@bradburke8232 His gimmick was extremelly well crafted, I don't know who wrote the scripts for the promos, if he came with some ideas, but if you look back at them, it's incredibly nuanced and was FAR better than lots of promos back then. His voice and intensity was also perfect for the role.
His gimmick was better than the iron sheik one, he used america's depraved sides and turned them into truths.
I am pretty sure if it was well done, his character would have evolved in a kind of "martyr", using victimisation always to stay on top.
I think it would have lasted a lot longer than just one or two years, like Undertaker, you have to keep refreshing the character.
Probably the biggest what if heel imo
A huge "what if" from the WWE Ruthless Aggression Era. Muhammad Hassan.
What if Marc copani is still with the wwe as of 2022.. makes me wonder if he will be able or allowed to travel to Saudi Arabia and compete in a match at crown jewel or will he be prohibited both by WWE and the Saudi government since he's a catholic man portraying a Muslim character
@@99mrpogi Jinder Mahal?
Muhammed Hassan had a great theme song
I will never forget WWE for boycotting this guy. Had the look, promo skills, athletic ability and was a heel who actually knows how to draw heat. And he was punished just for doing his job with flying colors -_-
He was not wwe's fault, it was the network's because of the london attacks!!!
@@ecafracs10 i thought it was cause of the wtc attack. And the gimmick got so much heat.
@@jeichien7743 nope London because they were doing the masked terrorists gimmick at the time and the taped episode aired on the day of it
@@aidenhorton18 ah ok
@@ecafracs10 so he was still the one who got punished. He was a employee and great as stated above, give him a new gimmick not just end his career... he didn't bomb anyone
I loved his character! He was such a good heel & entertainer!
Imagine the nuclear heat he'll get from the WWE fans when he actually won that title. This guy was nothing but amazing! Short but iconic run.
Not gonna lie his early promos had me thinking he was gonna be a babyface that imo woulda been ballsy
@@josephroseo8063 I think that was the intention. Guess they figured they could market him better as a heel.
@@thadevilzadvocate Wouldn't be surprised
Just like Jinder Mahal
This guy had so much potential
we owe this man his career... He deserved so much because he had the mic skills and in-ring skills. Shame what happened
The only WWE performer less than a year but became a legend.
The Attitude Era had a few but the Ruthless Aggression era had a dozen or more guys that could’ve been huge if WWE got out of their own way.
While you could be correct, this was not an example of WWE "being in their own way".
@@JT-Rebel They literally aired a terrorist angle after the 7/7 bombing. They didn't edit it out, they purposely left it in.
@@SteRDLK huh? you realize this is 2005 WWE right? They filmed the episode 3 days prior, which means they did not plan the storyline around the 7/7 events. If anything, those terrorists on 7/7 got in the way of the WWE.
@@JT-Rebel Yes, they filmed it three days prior, but it didn't air live did it! They had several hours to edit it!
@@JT-Rebel I’m not talking about the attack and corresponding tv angle. I mean the whole Hassan gimmick. They had gold in their hands and kept trying to turn it into a 1980s good vs. evil “bad foreigner” gimmick. That was ok at first, but they could’ve done much more with Hassan.
Greatest heel he was
This dude was such Gold!!!! $$$$$$$$ all day long!!!!
I loved that character!
All these What Ifs during the Ruthless Agression era….
Imagine the HEAT it would have created, lol...
Wow he looks so different from before
Yes people tend to change after 20 years
@@kingphoenix418 lolx
@@kingphoenix418 unless you're Lashley who still looks like his 2005 self lol
Muhmmed Hassan had a shining future he was supposed to beat Undertaker at great American bash , and he was going to beat Batista at Summerslam becoming the youngest World champion in history
Breaking the record of Orton.
He was going to have a rivalry against John Cena’s and he would be successfully in that rivalry.
He is without doubt the greatest heel in history of wrestling actually who was telling the truth
It’s a shame what happened
Life is unfair.
Also Muhammed Hassan is actually half Arabic and half Italian his mother is from Jordanien.
I'm guessing that Marc copani's Jordanian ancestry via his mother allowed him to portray the Muhammad Hassan character and portray it as an Arab American
@@99mrpogi yes that’s true since he was half Arabic in real life
Hassan is italian but devory i thinke is iranian.... I dont know why They laying say that They is arab but the truth They are not
Jinder Mahal with Singh Brothers 2017 was what Muhammad Hassan with Daivari was suppose to be
I think he should come in as a NXT manager or trainer. He can give some advice to the next generation of talent
I loved this character
Muhammad Hassan winning the world heavyweight title at SummerSlam in the Nation’s capital would be heat! The question is, where do you go from it ? How would you book his should have been potential title reign ?
I think he held it until wrestlemania and Kurt angle beats him for it
@@Dam_don_donda Yeah a American Gimmick beats him. That would be perfect
Good to see he’s not bitter over everything considering he was so screwed for doing his job so well
Imagine the pop he would’ve gotten if they had playing the stadiums in Saudi Arabia back then like they do now.
I loved his theme music.
I guess he beat Dean Douglas as shortest intercontinental championship reign didn't realize he won it for a few seconds
really nice dude
I remembered he was suppose to win but unfortunately an incident happened before smackdown and he was suppose to beat undertaker but he lost
this guy would have had one of the best heel runs as the World champ, constantly winning by cheating then losing, then winning it back by cheating again, his character was sooooo gooood....it's a shame
All they had to do was NOT make him a terrorist and this character would have been incredible.
It sounds ridiculous given how he started, but given how strong his promo was i actually think he'd have been an epic babyface long term.
Build an "I don't like you, but i respect you" storyline between Hassan and JR. Put JR in physical peril from another heel and have Hassan make the save.
Tell the story of a disenfranchised, borderline radical youth turning his life around and finding his place in society when someone gives him a chance.
He wasn’t a terrorist at first.
@@markfroman738 that's what i mean man. How strong was his character already.
There was no need to make it any more controversial with the masked militia shit.
They had plenty of intriguing storylines they could have played out before resorting to terrorist.
Ahead of his time! Muhammed Hassan could’ve been what MJF is now
Bro I hated this dude so much as a kid. Watching him back 10 years later I was blown away by how good he was, idk he just had it, a natural at cutting promos too, wish he did win that title man, especially if he cheated to win that would’ve got nuclear heat
I was so sad when they got rid of this character. It was REALLY GOOD! WWE being PC before PC was popular :(
He could still come back as a promoter, even one last run, if he manages to pick up the same kind of heat and can still "go" I'd even see him crowned champion in Dubai or some shit
Immediately, I am thinking of either a Crown Jewel show or a Super Showdown PPV/PLE...
I really really wish he won the title
Hassan should have won the World title off of Batista and Christian should have won the WWE title off of Cena back in 05.
No
He was way too over his heat was legendary
Muhammed in AEW, i will pay to see it, just a dream..
So Hassan woulda been given the Sheamus TLC treatment at Summerslam?
So Ricky Morton was suppose to beat Flair for the NWA title
Glad you found this guy, he really fell off after what happened and he went lowkey.
He wasn’t taking Title from Batista
Instead, they put it on transjinder mahal.
He Deserved All The Respect, And He Would Have Kicked Batista's Ass And Won The World Heavyweight Champion. Oh I Wish That Had Happened!!!
This is the exact moment i realized the world got to sensitive and went to go full woke. Talented wrestler had a "controversial" gimmick even though in the 80s we had several "russian" gimmicks. You can be entertained while also realizing a tragedy is a tragedy. This lets worry about everyones delicate little feelings is not only ruining wrestling but culture itself
no way he woulda won it. the title still meant something back then. maybe during the jinder era
First here interesting
World heavyweight champion not WWE champion 😬
you'll live.
I think he calls titles by what they're known as nowadays. Just like I think he refers to old PPVs as PLEs
This guy I thought played his gimmick so great sadly having the terrorist looking guys coming out choking out the undertaker with a wire that's was too much heat I feel and a bit too far a few years after 9/11 happened only. But he did Great in WWE I thought
Too bad he chickened out and ran for his life because of a couple death threats. I wish Vince got a guy with guts who could have portrayed that character and gone full Al Queda with him. I guess that's why Sgt. Slaughter is a legend and this guy is an asterisk.
You sound like biggest keyboard warrior ever here. What sponsor would want to advertise on a show in that political climate at the time? The situation was bigger than him.
An asterisk that’s made a hell of a lot more money than you.
@@ericanderson969 Vince booked it. He was scared to death and went into hiding and retired after less than a year. Vince could have just moved him to Raw where you were allowed to do anything.
@@jamescooper3324 He wrestled for less than a year, and then became a high school history teacher. It wouldn't be fair to compare his income to mine, and only a real jerk would do that.
It was Vince who dropped the ball him Daivari said in his interview vince call them in his office and told them Hassan character is dead forever. Vince didny have balls to fight against thirds class network upn doesnt not even exist anymore and he was worried about sponsers and money so he dropped Hassan and Hassan was so mad after all that hard work to get there everything was taken away from him through no of his fault
Yeah right and I was "supposed to be" the ruler of the known universe. He says his memory is fuzzy but it definitely was supposed to happen? What a load of shit. Hindsight is 20/BS
Muhammed is hot af. I love Arab men.
He isn't even arab 😂😂. He is an italian
