- We tune this big turbo GT3071 2.0T FSI MKV GTI for water meth injection. We built this engine and turbo kit 11 years ago now and it's still holding up. Buy nice or buy twice as they say. This dyno session was worth the efforts as we seen great gains dialing in the tune and the W/M setup on this car with Eurodyne Maestro 7.

400whp on 91+meth damn
Looking to see some see tsi 1.8. I have a 15 just did the full unitronic GTI exhaust and stage 2 tune. It made aware my clutch does not like it but on order lol. At least I can drive it just can't actually enjoy it yet! And it's also a crappy 5 speed lol!
I've got a '16 1.8, but it's an auto. I don't feel comfortable tuning it, as supposedly the transmission is only rated for 250 torque.
A DSG swap from a GTI would be fun...

When you guys do a tune do owners ask for a dual tune? Tune for the street with 91 octane and tune with race fuel for the track? The owner can choose the setting depending on the kind of driving? Ie high RPM at the track, versus low RPM on the freeway after traffic mellows out, but not a chance to hit high speeds or high RPM.

Fueling is the problem. Focus on that.
Makes me wonder what I can do with water meth. My FsI made 435 wheel on 21psi no aux fueling.

I know y'all don't want to give away secrets but you can add more info about what you doing to get the gains. I have a 1.8T with a K04, E85 and methanol injection. Only makes about 300whp but I turned it myself. The people that would use the tuning "secrets" are the same people that wouldn't go to a tuner without them. I'm not saying go full nerd on info because most people don't want that much but a happy middle ground may help the channel. Just a thought is all! I like the fact that it's not a Honda or an LS... Lol
I state in the video, timing. However I filmed 90% of this by myself while I had a timeline to get the car done... So this wasn't the one for details sorry.
@@COMotorsports I wasn't complaining. Personally I like to get nerdy. But yes you did say you were adjusting the timing. It's the by how much and when. 2° here or there. Idk...
@@4BillC so the reason I don't get into that stuff much is because people hear what they want and then regurgitate it however they feel, be it elsewhere or in their own head. I seen it a lot on FB with the hooptie build and it's a perfect example. So many false things claimed or said that never happened or are incorrect. Which is crazy because it's in video format for someone to hear and see with their own eyes, yet people just hear/see what they want.
So I'd rather not have someone be like "CO Motorsports said run 30* more timing on water meth and it's fine" when I said nothing of the sorts. I get it may help those that get it but it also has the potential to hurt a lot more for the bulk of the people who don't.
With that said the real answer is listen to what the engine and dyno tell you. I adjust based on what the engine is happy with, and since not all setups are the same so it's not a straight answer.

And please don't think I was trying to be "nasty" in any of my comments. I absolutely love this channel! I was just thinking it would be nice to see the specifics, until some dummy blows up their car because they saw tuner on CZcams do it!

hello i got a mk5 gti 2.0 edition 30 that do 370hp with k04 turbo and stage 2 apr tunning. my questien is how much du you think it could get whit the methan and water and the gt3071 turbo
That is great, over 90hp? I am tuning my S3 with a Vortex on wmi and unfortunately the gains won’t come close to that but still a bump from pump for sure.
It all depends where you're at for power, the capabilities of the turbo and how much pump gas is holding you back in your current configuration.
so would manual boost adjuster be enough of a safety measure for running out of watermeth in this case? Say I have watermeth tuned car, but I run out of it and have a long trip ahead - just lowering the boost and not going flat out be enough to not damage anything?
Depends how it's tuned. But the easiest is stay out of boost, or if it's tuned less aggressive on lower boost you can just turn the boost controller off.
Would you recommend a water meth kit for autcross?
Great stuff. I have an issue where my oil is getting diluted by gas. I've put in fresh injectors, followed by a new pump. Still getting dilution. I did reuse my autotech hpf internals on the new pump then put it back to stock but it made no difference. Gas is miixing with my oil. Any advise on what to check?
More than likely you have an injector leaking down.

Great power gains indeed. I have a b7 with the FSI in it with theJHM big turbo kit. The power is decent and it has been reliable I must say since it’s been installed almost 2 years ago. Do you think this engine is worth building and going with a bigger turbo or I was thinking of swapping it with a 2.7T , Vr6 or built 1.8 as my other options. I like the avant body. Any suggestions would be appreciated.. Thanks

Haven't watched it yet. But DPI WMI should yield ~104oct. I remember back in the day, Sean from APR posted about how they were doing stage 2+ vs. stage 3 testing on the Mk6 R platform. He said the stage 2+ had DPI WMI and said it was nearly as fast as the stage 3.
Personally I don't have the balls or the desire to keep up the maintenance. I'd rather just run e85 with UM proflex or 104 with APR.
Lots of people, like us don't have E at the pump so it's not an option.

Without lsd or awd I wouldn't even try making mine have that much power. I don't see a point if I already spin tires at 330hp and can't even use launch
Eurodyne does take a while to flash. I have this software for my Mk6 R
It's ECU dependent. This specific one is 15-20 mins each time. The other MK5 FSI on our channel is also running Eurodyne and it only takes maybe 2-3 mins to flash.

E is doing most of the work, gains would be minimal.

How would you compare tuning and building this platform compared to the 1.8t for a daily driver? Can you make comparable power for comparable money?
It all cost money. And if you shoot for say 500whp they all cost the same.

It's all dependant on the setup, boost and power goals.

@@kennesimpson7105 it's unlikely you're running the exact same setup, on our trash fuel so sort of irrelevant. It's no different then how much timing I'm running in it. It's specific to the setup. What works on this setup may not work at all on your setup.
I get that. I’m just curious.. we got 91 and e85 here.. so rn I’m tuned with e33 and using 750cc meth nozzle on stroker 660 setup only 20 psi for now. Haven’t had to pull any timing out of meastro base file timing yet. I’m just tryna compare to something somewhat similar
@@kennesimpson7105 e30 makes it not that comparable. You're seeing way more benefit from knock supression just with that preventative of E., It makes a huge difference.
