- Hal Clement dared to visit the haunted Whaley House in celebration of Halloween 1984. He set out to prove one way or the other if the famous house in Old Town is indeed, haunted. This is a pretty convincing report. Sound tech Rick Corcoran heard mysterious scratching noises in his mic. Hal felt cold in certain areas of the house. You might not want to watch this alone. It's pretty creepy.

I knew June Redding, she was a very nice woman. Very kind. I talked to her at length about the Whaley House and she shared numerous stories with me. I visited the Whaley House many times and on one occasion, I DID see something no one can explain today.
There is something happening in the house, be explainable or unexplainable, I KNOW WHAT I SAW.

@@seandaugherty9171 In the mid 1990s, right after the death of my Grandfather and in the spirit of Houdini who lost his mother, I decided to investigate the hereafter. I’m a very big skeptic and didn’t believe in ghosts and remain neutral on the topic. Living in San Diego I decided to head to the Whaley House to seek answers. In my search for answers I got to befriend June. She told me she didn’t believe in any of it until she started experiencing things in the house that truly defied logical explanation (at least to her).
One day I walked into the “family room” which is right next to the main entrance as you turn to your immediate right. As I look directly ahead I saw what looked like a white firefly move in a perfect clockwise circle. The little light was moving quickly and while rotating in a circle it was moving to the right at the same time. Then it just extinguished.
It was stunning and the entire experience lasted about 3-4 seconds. I am an engineer by profession and I thought of every logical possibility I could think of. Reflections, refractions, etc, etc, etc and nothing could explain it.
I told June about it and she said, “Oh yes, I’ve seen that before, typically that happens right before an apparition appears”. Needless to say I was stunned.
But keep in mind you could visit the Whaley house hundreds of times and not see what I saw.
One theory I have is that there may be a source of electromagnetic energy UNDERNEATH the property by way of a fast moving body of water moving through a conduit. That could be a source of hydroelectricity. If the field is strong enough, it could alter brain chemistry and one may be prone to see something by power of suggestion that isn’t really there at all.
It makes me wonder if ghosts are truly in our minds. The only objective disproval of this would be if more than one person saw what I saw and there were no witnesses but me.
I indeed saw something frightening but I cannot objectively say it was a “ghost”.

I knew June Reading from a very strange encounter I had while visiting The Whaley House in 1993. I am the owner of San Diego Paranormal Research and also a medium. I noticed the mannequin in this segment with Hal Clement in 1984. I walked into Whaley House in 1993 for the first time. I walked up the stairs and stood in front of the glass of the master bedroom. (Backstage of theatre today) There was a mannequin wearing a black beaded dress. I heard a voice in my head say to please let them know that I do not like that dress on the mannequin and to please remove the mannequins from the house as they scare people. June was also upstairs and sewing nearby. She and I were the only ones in the house. I said: please don't think I am crazy, but this is what I heard. I delivered the message to her. She said: Honey, I don't think you are crazy. You, me and Anna Whaley are the only ones who know that is her dress. June removed all the mannequins just as requested and the dress was then displayed on the bed. I wondered why Anna would need such a fancy dress and I did find the answer. I understand that Whaley House is now in the care of Old Town Trolley Tours and will soon reopen. It will be interesting to see what happens next!

When my Grandpa died in 1995, like when Houdini lost his dear mother, I was desperate for answers about life after death and became drawn to the Whaley House as I’m a San Diego native.
After numerous visits of not seeing anything, I was standing in the parlor room, and all the sudden I see what looks like a firefly spinning in a perfect circle. The small bright light did a couple of complete rotations while moving to the left and extinguished.
This was in broad daylight, there was no chance of any reflections where it happened as it was against the wall. I tried to reproduce what I saw at great length and of course could not that day or any other since.
I never saw anything else in the house but I do know that whatever I saw was either the byproduct of electromagnetic interference (EMI) or other unexplained phenomena.
There is something in that house, be it what some think as ghosts or some electromagnetic phenomenon.
I’ve been there.

lol I was born in '84 in San Diego County and this house is one of my favorite places
Geez, I went there in 2023 and they really changed the place up. Now in one of the old bedrooms there’s a small museum that showcases dug up artifacts courtesy of SDSU. At least Thomas Whaley will get to enjoy Sunday night football on the flat screen television that’s in there when nobody’s looking.
Being legally deaf, my senses are a little more entuned to most, I grew up in Lakeside California, it's east of downtown San Diego, I had been there many times, but I never felt any spirits in the house, but I did feel 2 spirits in the little cemetery, now again, I'm not a medium, I can't see or communicate with the dead, I feel them. The man I felt that was there was depressing, I felt heavy dark clouds, and I felt a playful little child, the atmosphere around him was much lighter, kind of like you would feel going to a park when you were a kid.
Why didn’t he just bring a regular flashlight? Did anyone think the lamp was a bad idea?

While on a Whaley house tour, our guide says to us that she knows there was a presence close. I took the picture and a large white orb was right in front of her. My son who was 7 at the time was floored.

With out qustion it's haunted I witnessed the smell of cuigar and perfume in the middle of the stairway and I felt coldness it was awesome experience would I do it again ? He'll yeah I would I just hope next time the whaleys are more welcoming bye coming out to communicate I'm not afraid of ghosts but how ever I've lived in the most dangerous haunted house in Nederland Colorado ppl reported that lucifer lived in that home I saw a black figure run across my ceiling in my room I slept on the couch after seeing that I nearly shit and pissd my bed after seeing that my room felt uninviting he'll yeah I moved now the 2nd home before we moved furniture in the house I saw bullet holes in the wall of the living room when I looked in I saw a fired off shell in one of the holes I've bin pushed nockd down I've Ervin had dishes fly out of my hand and crashed on the floor my mom has seen it happen I now live in a mid century modern home and its haunted bye a sweet old lady I've found her in my room living beside me holding me and it felt very welcoming she has messed with me bye turning my Xbox on when I wasn't using it I think she wanted to play a game lol
