  • A collection of professional Taiko performances. This one is a performance that is solo based - several of the members let loose and show off their Taiko drumming skills. The solos kick off in full swing at 8:20 if your'e impatient, but try watch it from the beginning or you miss the dynamics of the gradual buildup - very awe inspiring, you'll almost applaud yourself.

I still remember that I was forced to play in the school group when I was a kid I am 58 now, the teacher was a very crazy man all he did was to insult us, i was never insulted in my life like that ever again. He used the worst words, but people said he is a honorful teacher so nobody said anything. Now I am a 58 year old japanese businessman, and I can't forget him. I forgot how to play the drums probably but not how to insult others.

The one thing that eludes me is how do people beat those huge taikos crazily fast and not have to muffle or dampen them in anyway? When you play Bass Drum it rings out if you play fast and you have to muffle it to get more attack. Doesn't seem to be a problem for taiko players.

I just have to make a comment on this: I have a whole collection of songs that supposedly represent different eras or ages as portrayed in fiction, with this collection being one of them. I would have fit this in the Medieval Age, tying that with songs concerning the Crusades or Warhammer Fantasy, but I decided that it sounds ancient enough to mix with the Classical Period.
    Well done!
