NERF N-Series Pin Point: The Market Winner?

- I have a suspicion that the NERF N Series Pin Point will do the best in the mass market, since it looks like the second coming of the Eagle Point.

I was critical about the darts, and to an extent, I still am, but they do seem to actually fly somewhat straighter, which is pretty impressive. Nerf Darts had this horrible habit of fishtailing and going all over the place, so if they've actually solved that problem, or at least made it less of an issue, that's pretty cool, and good on Hasbro.
Still don't think it justifies throwing years of prior products effectively out the window however. I'm still more annoyed by that, more than anything. That and the new look. Very much screams "children's toy," rather than something that could be theoretically enjoyed by all ages. Main reason I've put off collecting after a point, just doesn't seem as cool.
The whole point of the N series is to separate themselves from the rest of their competitors. Everyone making products that can fire the same darts just makes things difficult from a business perspective. Combine that with the number of companies making and selling 'compatible' darts, and you're looking at a crowded market with little to differentiate between them all, meaning lower sales. Proprietary products, protected by patents etc, set you apart. Apple have mastered that art, along with many others. As for the aesthetics, these initial blasters are aimed at a younger audience. It's early days, and there's bound to be different designs in the near future.
@@another3997
You are very correct. Dart scarcity has been a solved problem for many years now, when you can get hundreds of decent Nerf-compatible darts for just a few dollars. Nerf can no longer sell their darts at the horrendous markups they could a decade ago (more, perhaps?). Given, much like printer ink, darts are a major profit driver, what is Nerf to do? Proprietary dart systems, of course! Hopefully it's only a matter of time before they get driven out of this element of the market also - although the vast likelihood is the treadmill of adaptations keeps going. I just hope this new system doesn't get abandoned entirely (vortex disks my beloved ;-;) because the performance delta is apparent.
Didn't nerf already make more accurate darts with the acustrike darts and line of blasters? And those were compatible with everything
@@another3997 That's understandable but there has to be a reason or motivation for the consumers to buy into their market. If they are making the same thing we already have but just with less compatibility, why would we bother buying it? We can just stick with what we already have.
The only reason they continue to sell is because mom's don't know the difference and throw money at them to buy their kids a "new shiny toy".
These are like the "Childs" Version of the Dart Zone Blasters or Various Short Dart Blasters
I kinda like that analogy. But I will say I'd definitely run these in a stock game
@@brickosaurus2276I would too bricko
@brickosaurus2276 yeah I don't think they're bad at all. But they definitely seem a little bit more Childish, which I don't mind
@@CalebJohnson-mk3rt I'd prefer childish and stylized versus overly - serious, real - steel, high - speed low - drag tacticool.
@@ShadowDaPk nah realistic nerf guns are cool
Happy birthday Jinx, happy 5th
What loved one of Drac is Hasbro holding hostage to have him singing the praises of DRM darts, mags, and blasters so much? More accurate than an elite dart? Not really a high bar to clear and they aren't even that much better.
agreed 😂
His sponsorship money. That's what Hasbro is holding hostage.
it’s because its $20. its a solid primary for the price, complaining about a completely functional blaster that’s only $20 would be stupid and pointless. this gun isnt for hobbyists, its for kids.
I think Drac’s been more appreciative, in general, of blasters for other audiences since high performance blasters started becoming available to the mass market (dartzone pro, etc.). Nerf isn’t the top dog anymore, and I think he’s just treating them differently, and more graciously, because of that.
I haven't heard any songs of praise. He's just not ripping it apart and trying to be objective for the sake of the review.
Its got a great sound profile. That bolt noises then the pop is really pleasing.
I feel like anything non-rival from nerf nowadays is "new" for the sake of being "new"... in order to push more sales. There isn't really any draw to their blasters other than that. I guess the new line shoots harder than n-strike... but then again so did rival, hyper, and ultra.
You do realise that the whole point of businesses like Hasbro, Zuru and Dartzone, is to sell products? Everything they do is geared towards that goal. No sales, no profit and no new products. The N Series is trying to differentiate itself from everyone else, because sharing a common platform with several competitors, in a relatively limited market, isn't ideal. If done well, proprietary designs can be very lucrative. Nerf pretty much had the market to themselves for years, and Apple have turned it into an art form.
@@another3997 Yeah, I realize that.. .but that doesn't mean you can't come up with something new and creative while you do it. Making a 3/4 dart with DRM isn't "something new". There are plenty of other options already on the market that can do pretty much the same thing as any of the new nerf stuff. So unless you just like the cosmetic of them or want to collect, there isn't really much incentive for me to buy them.
@@ASMRKlotzDude, you can only innovate so much. At this point most things under the sun have already been figured out. Unless a genius comes around, you probably won't see anything revolutionary anymore. That is why Hasbro have to endlessly repackage their products. If not then they might as well close shop.
@@lecongvu1997 I can tell you how they could make this blaster better. DON'T make a new dart with DRM. Make it regular full length compatible (or even both half and full compatible if they are gutsy) and make a new dart that actually flies straight out of it. Dart zone has waffle heads and pro darts that are both full length and fly better. There is no need for these new darts with a completely different size and slightly better performance than elite darts because elite darts are literally a joke to fire.
Now, if they want to make something more 14+ they could make ANY new short dart blaster or make a pro version of the Rival Pathfinder. Something that shoots around 140-150 rival.
I understand they are marketing to kids though so they have no motivation to do that. But even if they stick with kids products, they don't need to spend years developing a new dart that is only compatible with their blasters and doesn't shoot as straight as other options already on the market. And apparently they literally spent years engineering this new dart.
Ngl, I wish that Nerf would actually bring back Vortex blasters, and put some actual elbow grease i to it thos time. That shit worked miles better than the Elite system ever did, about on par with Rival, and you could also rebound shots off walls more readily if you needed to.
I had a dream with this blaster in it. It shot mega though and all the shots just fell out the front of the barrel.. lol.
I really like the aesthetics of this new line, it has a muted sci-fi feel to it. A custom paint job and these could make for killer Mass-Effect style futuristic blasters.
Definitely getting Mass Effect vibes from them too!
I've been really enjoying Drac's renewed enthusiasm in his latest videos! I'm an adult outdoor Nerfer so I'm more in the Dart Zone Pro demographic than the Nerf N-Series one, but I've still been loving watching all these N-Series videos just because it really feels like Drac is back in top form and having fun with the reviews. And oh, Happy Birthday Jinx! 🎉
How is the plastic quality of the n series blasters? Is it thick like original elite blasters like the rapid strike or raider, or does it have plastic thin like elite 2.0 or xshot?
Plastic is pretty good, doesn't really flex when you press on it like the xsls does.
The "agility" huh, lol. Still fun!
The sound is the only good thing about this blaster. Why only compare it to the biggest crap type dart on the market? Copare it to high end waffle tips.
2 reasons:
1: can't compare them because they aren't compatible. Would be a bit unfair.
2 (and biggest reason): Hasbro most likely told anyone they invited to HQ, or sent this "influencer pack" to, to only compare them with Elite darts and talk about how much better they are than elite darts. Hasbro is killing the elite line and this is its successor, so they need all the cash to come in from these blasters instead of going to third party blasters with better darts.
@@jerfsjourneysThat's rather disingenuous to say the least. You're accusing people of being complicit in some kind of conspiracy, yet we know that those same people have been very critical of Hasbro in the past, and no doubt they will continue to do so. Hasbro might prefer comparisons to their old darts, but I doubt any of the reviewers agreed not to compare against Nerf's competitors. It's inevitably going to happen once the products are widely available everywhere. Clearly Nerf blasters only ever came with Nerf darts, and these aren't interchangeable, so the comparison is valid. There's also nothing to stop Hasbro from refining the darts further over time.
@@another3997 then why haven't they been compared to other darts besides elites? You are so blinded by a weird loyalty to Hasbro that you don't even understand what is going on here. It's obvious by the early "reviews" of these that Hasbro has tied their hands somehow
It’s nerf buddy
He called it the agility. It’s okay, we’re all tired! 😅
PS: Happy birthday, Jinx! She’s seen quite the journey with you bro. Hope she’s around for many more!
Honestly that tac rail could be used to put a custom Iron Sight on it to give it a better sight profile
That thing is pretty cool, it reminds me of the old Vortex.
Happy pup day Jinx!
Happy birthday to the coolest doggo in the foam blasting universe!
Happy Birthday dog!
The Madsen LMG from the early 1900s uses a very similar magazine without feed lips, i wonder if someone at Hasbro was inspired by that
Happy Birthday Jinx
Getting mine tomorrow. Very hyped to see how good it is!
Also happy B day for the doggo
Happy Birthday Jinx!!
I’m a believer of Captain Xavier’s accuracy philosophy, where a blaster that can hit a human-size target from 30 feet away is “good.” I’m… not enjoying N-Series. I wish they would have done ultra foam darts, but the people reading this comment (I mean YOU) have probably heard that elsewhere.
Happy birthday, Jinx!
I feel like Hasbro should've just stopped making new stuff in 2020, and instead focused on modernizing a lot of their older beloved products. They have had a massive selection for years, and they absolutely still have the means of producing older designs, they just chose not to.

Happy Birthday Jinx!! 🎂 Such a sweetheart 🥰
Honestly, I don't like the N series so far, but this one specifically with a coat of pain and some minor modification could make a sick beam rifle for a halo cosplay
Edit: Needle rifle, I meant needle rifle.
Really like the colors of these new blasters
I have a feeling they put a tac rail on top instead of the bottom to stop people from making a pump action mod.
Y'know, it doesn't look bad - I didn't like its stock photo much, but it looks cooler in hand, and I can dig the silhouette. The performance is pretty solid, too - I think the gaps in the barrel look a bit strange, though.
Didn't realize the Eaglepoint sold so well, but it makes sense; it's pretty reasonably priced, and it looks pretty slick. I can see the Pinpoint doing the same... but the Alphahawk's still more to my tastes :)
Happy birthday, Jinx!
It would make sense to put a 3d printed front sight to make the "scope" actually useful, so there's something reasonable you can put there.
Happy birthday Jynx! Appreciate the blaster info too Drac.
Does the it still drop darts if the bolt is racked back when you pull the magazine?
i do love the way the blaster flows tbh
Honestly, the only Nerf offering that has caught my eye in the toy aisle lately is the Nerf Zombie (not Zombie Strike) Corruptor (Corruptor? I swear it's the Corruptor); that thing looks cool, doesn't have weird ugly unpainted greebly details like a lot of the old Z-Strike blasters, AND it's painted on both sides. Well done, for once in the longest time, Hasbro.
I love all your unboxing videos and I enjoy your videos good luck and good job on your videos for years and years
Happy Birthday Jinx, great video.
This looks quite good looking, i might buy it, i may even mod it to use the elite darts
Happy birthday Jinx! I'm curious if we'll see any N series at Endwar.
Happy Birthday, Jinx!
Would love to see it get modded
Happy birthday, Jinxie!!!
Happy birthday Jinx!
Happy Birthday, Jinx!! :D
Happy birthday Jinx! Still amazed how janky the flight path is on the new darts.
Happy Birthday Jinx!
Happy Birthday Jynx! ❤
Happy birthday Jinx! I hope it was a good one.
That thing screams "Destiny sniper rifle".
Kinda looks more like the Lightrifle from Halo.
Oh damn, didn't know Nerf was making bl3 merch.
Happy bday pup!
It feels illegal 2 be this early
Didn't even realize I was this early.
happy birthday doggo
So the pinpoint mag is just like the ultra speed mag?
Happy birthday Jinks!
So it's not compatible with OG n-strike mags?
The blasters look nice, but I just can’t support dart DRM
Also happy birthday Jinx
Happy Birthday!!
happy birthday jinx!
First impressions @2:00 This is not for function, this is for cosplay. With those lines, I can hit with white primer, accents, my kid and I are anything from Tom Cruise Oblivion to Trek/Wars/Star/Scape/Far/Babylon. Don't get hung up on that last one.
OH MY GOODNESS JYNX HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
That looks like a destiny 2 feist linear fusion rifle honestly!
Hey Drac, what was your favorite giveaway that NERF ever did? Mine was the great dark giveaway that they did when the original NStrike series was popular. It was the one where you were sent 50 free darts when you sent in a copy of your receipt. When that dart giveaway happened, I chose the night finder, and the recon CS6. Happy birthday Jinx!
Neat blaster ;)
Happy Birthday Jinx! 🐶
Happy Birthday Jinx, my parents Birthday are around this time too
Happy "Belated" Birthday to Jynxy!😃👍
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JINX!!!!
Happy birthday adorable doggo
Hey Jinx, Happy Birthday. While I appreciate the reviews that you and the rest of the "N Series Gang" have released, I am beyond frustrated that Hasbro has embargoed the only blaster that I care about in the entire line. As a card carrying member of the Bullpup Brigade and the Flywheel Master Race, the omission of the Sprinter from the launch collection is criminal. Presently, I am comparing N Series to the original Ultra blasters. Very interesting designs with mediocre ammo. Accu-Strike Ultra ammo and the Focus made me a believer in the Ultra line. I hope that the Sprinter does the same for the N Series. If not it's going to be 'Nothin Nerf for me.
Happy birthday jinx!
Hows the recoil?
Happy Birthday Jinx.🎉
I love how drac is complaining about that mag issue when it's just an excepted thing in other hobbies
It might be accepted in other hobbies but we already have tons of blasters in this hobby that DON'T have the mag issue. So it's a downgrade.
Happy birthday Jinx.
Happy Birthday Jinx!!🥳🥳🥳🥳

The style of the barrel/shroud on this line of blasters is really odd. The gaps look really random.
