I remember being so hyped for this special episode of Spongebob. Seeing the commercials of the gang going to Atlantis and the Atlantean aliens was so cool. Plus the bubble song is my favorite.
Atlantis SquarePantis was a big SpongeBob special back then. Not only it was a musical, SpongeBob and the gang got to go to Atlantis. Its pretty big SpongeBob adventure, that surprisingly nobody liked.

Also, the Encino transformation scene where Patchy is getting blown away by the tornado is a reference to the Wizard of Oz

One of my all time favorite SpongeBob specials and probably one of the first SpongeBob episodes I ever watched. At least one of the first in my memory. All the songs are great, it’s got fun and creative animation, patchy segments, david Bowie as a guest star, a fun story, funny jokes, and all the best SpongeBob characters together. Still the best after all this time

Also, David Bowie guest stars as Lord Royal Highness, I don’t know if you know who he is but, he was a famous 70’s glam rock musician known for his alter ego character persona “Ziggy Stardust” that supported the album of the same name. He was a fan of the show which is why he got the role, he was supposed to have a song to sing but, he joined late as the songs were already created by the time he recorded his lines. Rip David as he unfortunately passed in 2016.

I don’t think this episode was as bad as people made it out to be. Some moments were enjoyable. Though I’ll admit, I did think it was odd that David Bowie didn’t even get to sing at least one song in this special.
Alot people hate this special but I love it. Maybe it’s nostalgic? Because it used to air a lot on Nickelodeon as a kid and I used to play the Tie in game on the Ds. It was a really fun game. Ds is Superior version though. I heard the consoles versions were not that great.
I actually thought the console version was okay, but I'll admit having to playing the levels at least 3 times too earn all 3 medals can get repetitive after a while. I also 100% beat the console version too without using any cheats which just goes to show how much patience 12 year old me had with that game and playing the levels over and over again. Part of me wishes I had the whole getting to 100% completion documented, but at the same time, it would be like a 16 hour longplay video if I did that.
It's been a while since I last saw this episode, so I can't wait to familiarise myself and gain a fresh opinion! Either way, I do find it interesting that out of the three (soon to be four) tv movies this is the only one to cover a single episode block
I don’t know if any of you guys noticed but all the art stuff that was in this specific episode of SpongeBob for Atlantis. All these were famous paintings and I think that they animated Squidward animated squid word into famous artwork was when he stepped into that painting van Gogh
I thought this episode was alright, especially the Patchy/Potty scenes, for me, the only downside to this episode is I was bummed that they didn’t let David Bowie sing a musical number in this one, considering he’s a great singer/musician.
As a kid I always wondered where was King Neptune at? No mention of him at all and we saw his painting meaning that Lord Royal Highness wasn't Neptune.
I could only watch Spongebob at my grandparents so this was the only special I got excited about before release. Even if I had to wait a bit for the dvd release and even longer for it to come to my town library, worth it though

Breath of Fresh Squidward is actually an excellent episode imo. SpongeHenge is my fav of the season. And I enjoy every ep you mentioned other than WhoBob WhatPants which is just whatever. Atlantis is great.

You know there was actually a game on this for PS2 and Wii. All this taking place at Atlantis based on the story but all this escaping because of a bubble but that was a prop for tourists the LRH holds the real deal.

A lot of people don't like this episode, but I do honestly like it if you watch it for the first time. Rewatches can get boring because you know already what happened and the episode aren't really centered on humor. But for a one time watch, it's an exciting adventure and I'm a sucker for adventure episodes.

This was one of my favorite episodes of Season 5, I like the songs and humor on this.
I can remember that Nickelodeon had a small book series of SpongeBob and I had a book of this episode. I had to read it every evening.
