I have the W-96H-1AV version of this Casio watch and it is one of the best Casio's that I own. The display is clear with all the information you need on it and the strap is very comfortable and is shorter than some other versions of Casio so it has not a lot of overlap when worn. I wish that all Casio's had similar straps to this as too much overlap is an issue with me. I hope that Casio will address this issue by giving an option of a shorter strap on all models or the standard straps when purchasing their watches.
Same here. It's the best combination of aesthetics, functionality, and price. Been using it for sports, hiking, cycling, etc, but now replaced in those capacity with a W86 and WS2100 respectively, so it can be my go to throw on casual watch.
I wish i had the ability to copy my assignments like skmei did with casio.
The perpetual calendar on the Skmei 1278 is good to the year 2049; the Casio W-96H is good to the year 2099

Casio every time. Of all mine, the W-96H-1VES is my overall favourite, representing the best combination of aesthetics, functionality, and price. (I got a deal on mine, so it was joint cheapest with my F91-W.

Casio display looks better; to me that is the face of the watch, a very important thing.
There are some issues with the Skmei 1278:- no setting to disable the beep (button) sound, the light button is used for setting everything so the battery gets used alot especially with the EL light, 12/24hr setting too easily accessed. Straps also needs to be removed for backplate removal.

@@GedmisLaguna My long term review - I've been using it as a beater watch for running every morning and had to replace the straps after a year and a half. I found out the straps are easily removed since it doesn't use pins but screws so its not really an issue. The time accuracy is definitely subpar, probably needs the time reset more frequently if you are using it to catch trains/buses whereas I hardly ever resync on ordinary Casios. Back cover showing a little sign of rust at the strap edge after about 2 years.

The reason skmei is cheaper than a Casio is because Casio has already done all the design and engineering of their original watch skmei just copies casio’s blueprint it beats me why Casio has’nt sued the arse off them probably because they’re too busy designing and engineering more of their original products and trusts their customers to have more sense than to even by a skmei still,skmei’s audacity does boggle the mind....well,those of us who have one. - RG,Sydney(that’s in Australia- you’ll find us on the bottom of the map)
You are right, as the Skmei company in most cases are making copies of Casio or other brand watches. Casio do not do anything or can't do much to protect their copyrights as China protects own manufacturers and doesn't prohibit such practice.

Casio doing the same thing on some model, lime GA2100. I think it's called homage product. Also they can copy the exact product or blueprint, the only think that they can copy is the facia or the upper size look. That's why the homage product of Casio usually have thicker dimension

I own the skmei 1278 and the backlight is brokern within 3 months.. and i dont even wear it daily.. and the time accuracy is poor.. it runs more than a minute in a week..but other than that.. everything works fine

Quando vi não tive a certeza de comprar até apertar a luz para ver sua iluminação.
Após isso e ver que a Skmei tinha um modelo semelhante e com uma iluminação 100% superior fiz a compra do modela da Skmei.

Damn... One battery's lasts 10 years, the other has el back light and lasts 3 but has cdt and 5 alarms.
I've seen online that you can "hack" some basic casinos like the w800h to gain additional functions but cause it uses the same module as others.

for cheap watches i always go for casio, better machine/module, better accuracy, energy efficient also, i had bunch cheap watches, also (cheap) QnQ brand from Citizen, it is battery usually only last less than 5 yrs, unlike Casio

I reckon it's the same watch. Just SKMEI comes out of CASIO CHINA'S back door rebadged as Skmei. All these cheapo watches, including Casios, are thrown together in Guanghzou. It's the same as many other Skmei. Casio probably created a sub brand of virtually the same thing and gets revenue twice! Good business 👏

Idk about skmei. Once I purchased a skmei watch for 20 dollars and it broke when I slipped on the ground and it hit concrete. Pretty good but not as good as my Casio I've been using for the past 4 years ( F91W )

My old Casio DB150 have great iluminator "full screen". I buy Skmei 1278, backlight is awesome, much better like original Casio W-96H-1AVES. I don't know why Casio now make this sh*t iluminator (poor corner led) ?!

The Casio has three times better accuracy and 10 year battery life while the Skmei has only 3 years. So how is movement of Casio only one point better than Skmei? It should be 8/10 (Casio) and 5/10 (Skmei). Also you can be pretty sure the Casio has better overall quality. So Casio wins overall. But that's just my 50 cents. :)
The build quality is good for both watches. Nest time I'll consider about the movements, thanks for reference.
the passport number of both watches is the same, this spread is within its limits. The other Kasio and Skmei will have a different move. And the illumination of Skmei is an order of magnitude better than that of Kasio. A Real Illuminater. Although negative. You can't see anything on the Casio at night. Plus a countdown timer. Plus 5 alarm clocks. As for the best overall quality, it's still Chinese "quality".
Total Kasio-skmei 5:8. Ole-Ole-Ole!

The one thing I hate about these models and why I always recommend other ones no matter if you buy Casio or SKMEI: The "lugs". You can't put any standard sized straps on it. If you can't put a NATO in the right colour on your watch, what's even the point? :-P
you are right, you can't put any standart strap
You can't on this model, but you can on other SKMEI watches such as the 1220. I know because I am wearing one with a 3rd party strap as we type.

Weird that my SKMEI 1278 backlight is the normal type where only the numbers etc light up. Weird that its so different.

On a second thought, it might be the difference of white balance colour on your video that made it appear blue. Mine is abit greenish like the other skmei illumination.

I have just bought the casio w96h and just waiting for it to arrive....got to admit the other watch in this video looks like it has a slightly more legable readout than the casio...other than that they look pretty much identical

Hello GL, I finally got mine. I gotta say I'm pretty hsppy with mine: it's got big digits and the 5 alarms + CDT are very useful.
However there's a small issue: the backlight makes a buzzing sound when it's on.
This doesn't happen to any of the other Casios with EL backlight that I have nor the Skmei 1134 I bought 6 years ago.
Does this happen to yours?

@@davespagnol8847 I see acrylic glass as a plus actually. Yes, it scratches easily but you can polish it just as easily. Makes the glass look like new. You can't do that with mineral glass.

no se van a arrepentir con la version china.... duro mas de 3 años de uso diario sin parar..... es pequeño con numero faciles de leer, liviano resistente al agua los botones se ponen duro luego de los 3 años... y la malla de silicona se quiebra. estamos hablando de uso y exposicion constante... y la bateria nunca se agoto... antes de gastar en un repuesto de malla.... ES MEJOR COMPRAR UNO NUEVO Y DARLA CAÑA SIN PENSAR EN QUE SE VA ROMPER.... o tener varios relones y asi alargar al doble la vida de este...

no sabia que existia la version original CASIO.... el SKMEI en ese modelo me resulto muy practico. pequeño con numeros faciles de leer... super liviano y lo use mas de años todos los dias... lo unico q se despinto fueron unas letras rojas en la caja y la silicona que se quebro del uso diario.... un repuesto usando el original de casio me resultaba el doble de lo que sale el reloj chino.... asi que me compre otra vez otro skmei....

Yo tengo un Skmei y debo decir que la hora se adelanta varios minutos al cabo de unos días, un reloj digital que se adelanta ya no es confiable así me ahorre unos cuantos dólares en comprarlo perderé mucho maaasss en confiabilidad. Por eso prefiero el Casio. Aya ustedes si prefieren lo barato e impreciso a lo económico y confiable.

Ну а если серьёзно, то фирма Skmei специализируется на выпуске дешёвых аналогов часов Casio. Для китайцев это норма - что-то за кем-то повторять (даже если сами за собой) - их не мучают угрызения совести и им непонятны наши высказывания по типу: "Лучше своё что нибудь сделайте, чем повторять за кем-то!" - у них менталитет другой, ок, да?
Теперь насчёт цена/качество - смотри, тут картина такая, что даже фирменная вещь, купленная в лицензионном магазине с гарантией может выйти из строя в первый же день, сколько раз я на этом обжигался, не перечесть! Последний раз в собственных руках носил мамин пылесос Samsung в магазин и обратно - то менять нельзя, то деньги не вернут, то починку и диагностику ждать несколько месяцев... В итоге он сам заработал!) (испугался наверное😅)
А здесь отличия только в батарейке (у Casio это Philips, а у Skmei ноунейм какой-то), в материалах особых отличий нет - шо то пластик, шо то). И сколько отзывов я не читал - все хвалят Skmei за электронику и подсветку, и ругают за качество ремешков.
И если уж на то пошло, используя твою метафору с резиновой женщиной - то Casio это резиновая баба, а Skmei - это рукой справится и сэкономить себе на шаурму!)))
