  • Here's my full review of the 'new classic' Jensen Interceptor R restomod - fitted with a new supercharged GM LS engine and transmission. Built by Jensen International Automotive (JIA). New dashboard and electronics, new drivetrain - old skool cool.

They are the most beautiful cars ever. I first saw one in Switzerland in 1974 and the whole village came out to take a look.

I've seen a Jenson International car in the flesh and it was absolutely stunning! They are not cheap and I can't afford one (yet), but when my business comes good (or I win the lottery - ha) it is definitely on my wish list way above a new Ferrari/Aston or whatever. Jenson International are a fabulous company and hats off to them for resurrecting such an iconic car!

Have to love Restomods like this! A Jensen seems the perfect subject. Way better in modern form!

Thank you Shahzad. As I recall, this Interceptor body style came with a separate blower fan to demist the rear screen. Modern technology however, is obviously the way to go.

Great car and definitely on my list. I first saw the the Intercepter at the San Francisco Auto show in November 1974. It was my first car show and that car stood out. A European GT with a Chrysler 440? What's not to like. Then I saw the JIA creation on Top Gear. Wow! I think it's great that there are some companies keeping the old stuff alive and relevant.

Fabulous car! Brown Guy is smiling, but the owner is scared shitless that he's going to crash it. After so much work I wouldn't let anyone else drive until they paid for it.

Its fantastic to see the original and still the best supercar in the world having the attention lavished on it after all this time . That said although I am Jensens biggest fan , this outfit is re inventing the Jensen wheel in so much as what they achieve with the final result is a "Modded" car . The implications of a non standard car is frowned upon by insurance companies , is not recognised by Jensen parts and service specialists and in the event of this company closing down making any modded Jensens extremely difficult to sell . My advice is dont touch a modded car no matter how good it looks as the potential to financialy cripple the owner is far more than a standard example .

What an absolutely achingly beautiful car! Obviously expensive but tremendous value if you consider its wholly bespoke character in relation to its equally priced modern competitors. Those rear seats are literally a complete waste of space; better to install additional secure luggage capacity.
Classic Ferrari in the background around 5 minutes!

You really need to do your research, the dash is that car is a series one dash with the instruments changed and the toggle switches changed for billet and moved down to the centre consul base. They all had power steering and air conditioning that worked perfectly well, my mothers father had one.

There were about 8 thousand interceptors made in 10 years. So that’s about 800 a years. A bit different from 6 a year Even 6 A week is is 300 in a year. So your saying only 60 was manufactured in ten years. No car companies would stay in business with them figures. Even the Ma’claren F 1. Made more then that and they cost 600 grand so there you go. Nice car though.

    • @BrownCarGuy

You’re quite right! But I wasn’t referring to the original company, I was taking about Jensen International, who built this car, and have been operating for 10 years.
