  • There are three types of huddles that take place every day at UC Davis Medical Center. Each nursing unit, as well as other clinical and non-clinical units, gather together before every shift to review any issues from the previous day and prepare for the next 12 hours. In addition, every morning, a group of leaders huddles and then rounds through the hospital to address urgent issues and provide important communications and messages to staff in real time. A 30-minute executive team huddle also takes place every morning. It brings together representatives from key clinical and administrative departments to consider the hour-to-hour and coming day's needs for the entire hospital.
Each huddle focuses on different aspects of the medical center’s operation, but they all have one goal in common: ensuring and improving patient care and safety.
