  • In this video Mike Still explains his prediction and expectation of why it's very reasonable to expect the price of one bitcoin to reach 1 million US dollars in the next few years.

    Love your street interview videos. Satoshi would be proud of your work in educating one person at a time. Globally people are slowing waking up to how all currencies are all trending to zero. By 2030 I think $5m per BTC is a real possibility. It’s going to be a roller coaster ride that is for sure.

    I am also very bullish on btc Mike.
    But 1 million even in 2030 is way too much.
    The Problem is 99% of the people out there still have no clue why our current fiat System is broken and bad.
    The dont understand Inflation and what causes it.
    It will take way more time to get mass Adoption than we think unfortunately.
    After naxt halving in 2024 maybe 120-150k in 2025. After halving in 2028 price will get to somewhere between 200-250k in 2030

      Nominal terms. A loaf of bread isn’t gonna cost you $50 in 5 years.
      If it does bitcoin will be at $50m a coin but I am not expecting this.

      @@MikeStillUK Can the govt which has access to an infinte money printer suppress btc/usd valuation via cash-settled futures market and other derivatives in order to stunt btc's appeal? Similar to what was done to gold via the paper gold market. Rapidly appreciating btc and btc adption would threaten the incumbent monetary system and govt would presumably pull out all stops to halt its progress and devise new dracronian and ludicrous laws and financial instruments to that end. Governing bodies can be very creative, and often depraved, in achieving their aims and it's wise to assume and prepare for the worst.

    • @MikeStillUK
      @MikeStillUK  Před rokem +1

      The advantage that bitcoin has over gold in this sense is that it's very easy and frictionless to demand 'physical settlement' of bitcoin. Gold is of course difficult and expensive to move and transport. Bitcoin moves at the speed of light at very low cost.
      Secondly, you'd be surprised how many pro bitcoin politicians there are. If you live in a 'free country' and your politicians are against bitcoin, then you no longer live in a free country. China and other authoritarian countries are expected to take an anti-bitcoin stance - but there's no good reason that any country which respects property rights would or should take an anti-bitcoin stance. Plus - game theory would just suggest that you are handing an advantage to your competition if you were to try and do something so silly as to try and 'ban bitcoin'.

    • @eleninamyers
      @eleninamyers Před rokem

      @@MikeStillUK Some countries like China use brute force approaches like bans. The US sometimes takes a more subtle approach. If the US wants to neuter btc, they won't outright ban it. They will instead try to use multi-pronged and opaque mechanisms to hinder its progress.
      Non-btc cryptos are actively trying to get co-opted by wall st and the govt. The govt could decide to 'partner' or integrate with something like eth and decide to promote that because eth is something they can covertly control by threatening the Eth Foundation. While govt can't control btc, it can try to promote alternatives like eth or cbdcs while conflating or obfuscating the merits of btc so that it doesn't occupy mindshare or public awareness.
      If btc can rapidly add a billion more users and nations start selling their oil/gas for btc, that would trigger huge game theory fomo.

    Interesting video. A couple of considerations:
    - a lot of real estate is not money but credit. If you just consider real estate without a mortgage, I would expect it to be much smaller than $300tn.
    - on a bitcoin standard, real estate would no longer count as a „global money“. Why? Because why would you own real estate that incurs regular costs like repair, property tax, etc. as a „money“ or investment? I expect real estate value to come down quite a bit and be priced for utility, not as an investment.
    - in my opinion, bitcoin is first and foremost a contender for the bond markets. Right now, treasuries are pristine capital, the safest yielding asset you can hold. If bitcoin can replace bonds as a savings vehicle we‘re talking ~$6m per coin.
    - bitcoin will not replace equities, instead I believe that crypto will be regulated as security at some point snd merge with the equities sector.

    • @MikeStillUK
      @MikeStillUK  Před rokem +4

      I agree that in the LONG term bitcoin will surface as the apex primary store of value which will make owning investment property redundant. This however I imagine will take more than 5 years. Maybe more like 20 years.
      Agree that once bitcoin has taken gold's SOV the bond market is next. Surprised that more people haven't ditched bonds for BTC already.
      Crypto will be regulated as a security but it's very clear that bitcoin will not. The two are very different. As for equities - many equities will become bitcoin derivatives as more publicly traded companies hold btc on their balance sheet. You will own bitcoin through owning equity. Think TSLA, MSTR, SQ etc...
      Thanks for your comment!
